I did research on the man depicted in the movie and he did exist, he protected Mustang horses and he was involved in long distance horse races. So, the movie is based in truth. And I highly doubt that people wouldn't like the movie because it wasn't true enough to actual history. Most people have no idea about the actual man depicted in the movie. So, why would they be offended if the movie took liberties about the real story of this man's life? They wouldn't.

I really loved this movie. Especially this scene. Once my whole life fell apart and felt exactly the same way as this scene. The other scenes I like are the final race, and the scene where they rescue the Sheik's daughter.

Such an underrated movie. I don't understand why this movie was not more well received. Beautiful story, great characters and beautiful music.
Some didn't like that it tries to sell itself as a 'True story', it was just a tall tale.
