Jane's personality is so bright and bubbly, she literally glows at first.
These five women are the reason I’ve been a working musician my entire life. These are some strong-ass ladies! From open heart surgery to carpal tunnel syndrome, drugs and all the other huge challenges they faced...Their spirit and spunk was inspiring to me as I faced my own music business obstacles. I learned how to play all their songs and dreamed of co-writing and jamming with them. They ROCK live and totally deserve Hall of Fame status. What I wouldn’t give to be on their private text chain because they are so funny. I’m so happy to see them happy and healed now. “There’s nothing there’s no one to stand in their way” - still a joy to watch and listen to them all these years later! AMAZING! ❤️🔥🦋😎 KEEP ROCKING, SISTERS!

Why the hell aren't they in the HOF? As a trucker I listen to their music to pass the time and forget about all the BS that's going on in the world today.
I know its incredible they arent in the Hall of fame or also The Jam, Suzi Quatro and Pat Benatar

They were just saying this is their first new song in 19 years..since Go-Gos- "God Bless the Go-Gos" album which, if you've never heard it....is just incredible and one I still play all the time! Loved them since they came on the scene..I'm pretty much their age and their stuff holds up with all the best stuff from the 80's. An absolute crazy thing that they have never been inducted into the R&R Hall of Fame!!!!!

What Is inspiring about the gogos is their tenacity to hold on to their dream inspite of hardship in the beginning...
Talk Show was the first album I ever bought on vinyl with my own money. Unfortunately, I never saw them live.
The only reason I can think of, as to why Go-Gos aren't included on "respect" list of female rockers like Heart/Stevie Nicks (as Jane mentioned)=Go-Gos were Top40/MTV band, not FM rock radio format (KLOS/WNEW type format). But, Go-Gos are top notch players. Iconic songs and iconic parts.

The documentary was so honest, profound and hilarious. What other band can totally rip on each other good and so bad. Then at the end get up and jam a new rocking song. Obviously they learned what's good for the Go Go's! Jane who is the Go Go's, but it consists of 4 other parts.

I love the gogos I had their cds a few years ago I am 35 now but loved them since age 15 and got a computer in my late 20s early 30 s and bought their cds so they may need to be replaced

My dad used to have a crush on Kathy Valentine when I was a kid in the 90's. Now I know why.
Something else I always liked about the Go-Go's is that it always sounded like they put their hearts and a lot of thought into the music. This is something I see woefully lacking from today's music. I've been a fan of them ever since I first heard them on the Rock and Roll Alternative back in the day. Speaking of never getting any credit, George Gilmarc never really seems to get credit for what he did. He should also have his own documentary.
Put CLUB ZERO on vinyl and I will buy it in a jiffy.
It is a total travesty that alot of people don't know about the Go Go's. I live in the UK and never heard mention of them at all from anyone till I saw their 1994 appearances on TV. I had only just become a fan of Belinda Carlisle a couple of years earlier. When I got Return to The Valley of The Go Go's I was like, where can I get the rest of these albums. Beauty and The Beat was available & The Greatest 1990 album, but Vacation & Talk Show were not and were deleted/unavailable. When they were re-released I snapped them up straight away. I also never knew Heart were around in the 1970's as everyone I ever heard talk about them refers to their 1980's stuff, and their pre-1985 stuff to me is better. Since then I got into Toronto, Vixen, Saraya & Lee Aaron too all from the 1980's and awesome, but hardly ever mentioned. The Go Go's are my all time favourite band ever since I first heard them, and not just because I liked Belinda, because I have all their side project stuff too and it is pretty much all good stuff, and highlights how talented each one is in their own right.

Great, great interview and after reading Kathy's wonderful book and revisiting The Go's Go's material, I realize that they were unappreciated mainly from sexist attitudes which I was a part of also. Great and very influential and important band.
Thanks for posting this! I saw the Zoom live before I saw the documentary. After I saw the documentary, I wanted to see the Zoom again so I would understand some of what they were talking about. Can you make the documentary available for purchase (dvd or itunes)? It would be great if this Zoom video was a bonus feature on the dvd! I would buy it!

Honestly the reason the Go-Gos are more "forgotten" than those other Girls is the fact the very late 70s and early 80s music is dismissed as a whole.

I watched the Go-Gos documentary on Showtime a few years ago. It was a good documentary to watch, but I just hate that the documentary focuses more on the infighting and drug use. It was still a good documentary though.

Every time I've come across the documentary being aired I have stopped and watched it. All told I have probably seen it at least 10 times.
The Go Go’s are one of my favorite three bands. But to answer the question about why Heart and Joan Jett get more notoriety, my opinion is that they have lasted longer. The Go Go’s blew up too soon. It’s a shame too because I loved the music and watching them live 4 times from 82-01!

The Go Go's have always been dismissed as real musicians and it's a shame...they are responsible for some classic songs that are still played in movies, tv ads, etc. They were five weird kids who found each other, jammed, and created magic!! What is more Rock and Roll than that?

Back in the day people took them as a joke. I was one of them people, I have mad respect for them today in 2022. I had the major hots for Belinda when she went solo, she totally changed look wise. Plus she had more hits by herself than she had with the Go Go's. I watched the doc a couple days ago. It was ok I suppose. I still argue Belinda should have married me instead of dude!
