- In this video I want to check fuel consumption of my swapped OM606 into my 1991 LWB G Wagon.
Engine is built with mechanical injection pump from my old OM603. Pump has 7.7 milimiter elements and is set to 120 cc max fuel and 55 cc low. Engine is connected with 6 speed manual BMW GS6-37DZ gearbox. I also have Holset HX 35 turbo.
6th gear has 0.83 ratio
There is 1.05 reduction road gear in transfer case
And 4.375 gears in axles
So I have ~2400 rev/min when driving 100 km/h
Tires are 315/75R16 Yokohama Geolandar G012 AT set to 2.6 bars for this test.
I keep overlanding tempo, so no faster than 110 km/h, take it easy, no crazy accelerations, no keeping behind trucks, just normal trip to make honest test.
Before I start I fill up full and drive 590 kilimeters in a loop. After all day of driving I come back to the same petrol station to fill up diesel full again.
I refilled 73 liters, so for 590 km give 12,37 liters per 100 km (19 MPG) and that is pretty much impresive/unbelivable.
I have calculated and checked this couple of times, looks like I have not done any miscalulcation.
00:00 Intro

This is very informative, I drive 810km / 80ltrs / full tank land rover defender 300tdi.
Much love from Uganda❤
Thank you, greetings from Poland!!
Fantastic video showcasing your beautiful G! Great shots and the overall trip vibe. Keep up the great content!
Thank you Tomek for this comment, I very much appreciate it!
Good video, the whole way from taking it all apart to performing tests now 👌🏽
Thank you!
That is actually very respectable.
Ależ wspaniała G klasa :) Zbieram na taką!
You has built a very nice G-Wagon!!!!
Thank you!!
@@MercedesOffRoadClub kan you a G-amboree in Hungary? This Year ist 10 th Anniversary. Do you see yourself there?
I have heard about this event but to be honest I did not plan to participate this year. I was planning other trips, but nothing is certain yet, so I will consider!
My G-Wagon with OM602 Turbo , mechanical Pump with 6mm Elements from Dieselmeken consum 8,7-10,7 Liter.
This is very impresive
I have the factory built G300. Lifetime average of 12.1 L/100km over 500tkm. Freeway/offroad/city, everything.
These are very good G Wagons!
where dis you find the part to reduce the axle ratio?
i m building a G Wagon in morocco with big tires
I bought them locally in Poland from a guy who sells used parts for the G-Class. I bought some parts from him so I already trust him.
Nice vehicle. What are the gages on the A pilar ?
Thanks, starting from top one:
Boost pressure
Exhaust gas temp
Oil temp
Oil pressure
They all come from Auto Gauge
@@MercedesOffRoadClub Thanks, and where you hook them on the engine ?
For boost pressure I welded fitting in factory aluminium intake manifold.
For oil pressure I made T fitting just below oil filter. So I have two oil sensors there next to each other, factory and additional one.
EGT sensor is just before turbo - inside adapter between turbo and exhaust manifold
For oil temp I made another T fitting from turbo oil feed, close to engine block
@@MercedesOffRoadClub Thanks, the gauges are from Auto Gauge Taiwan ?

They are from this premium 52mm diameter series
How many HP you run with this setup?
Not less than 300. But it is at higher rpms.
@@MercedesOffRoadClub Wow really nice I am looking to make a G class with this motor and 6 speed ZF transmission. Thanks for the information. Really cool build.
I also want to build an overlander with long wheel base. Real inspiration for me here.
Good luck with your build!
