  • Grayson is among traders and hedge-fund managers in the City of London. The modern City, they tell him, is all about calm, cool rationality, but Grayson suspects that in the long journey from hunting mammoths to clicking mice, impulsive aggression and raw passion haven’t disappeared quite so easily. A tense final exhibition sees the financial powerbrokers come face to face with the work that Grayson has created.

As an Asian female trader on an otherwise all white male trading floor, I would say the observations and artworks are pretty accurate. Oh BTW I'm way more aggressive than my suave male colleagues, that's the way now. It's covert, but everyone already knows how to play by the rules.

Having spent a decade in a fortune 50 company
I know the lengths that people go for the promise of happiness
life of misery for the promise of happiness and comfort
meanwhile, they can afford to indulge in decadence, just a taste of happiness before they die miserable

I really liked the comment about women crying when they are angry and men becoming aggressive when they are afraid.. I have had the misfortune to come across quite a few angry men recently and I can see that in each case it was fear that was the cause.

Men also cry when they are afraid, and women become aggressive when angry. The stereotypes are not that accurate, which is why they are stereotypes..

The funny thing is that the ads that come with this episode are all about men selling us big dick ideas.
They must've seen a widow of opportunity when reading the title "All Man".
Aside from that I find Grayson real balsy taking on The City folk as he does. Very refreshing!!! I actually find the Animal Spirit work very inspiring.
The Frenchman's explanation quite nails it!!

Its interesting that men will accept Grayson in his (quite gutsy) male persona even tho they probably know he also dresses as a woman. i.e. they identify with him and accept him as a MAN and member of the club, whereas they would not accept a woman who dressed and acted as a man as their equal. The gender barrier would remain. No matter what - women always feel the gender differentiation that men cannot help but perceive or put aside and subtly express in their interactions with women. GREAT PROGRAMS - thanks Grayson.

It's sort of a problem on both sides. Women and men aren't compatible, they run things differently. You have to tiptoe around women in a professional setting. They don't include the woman because they are afraid of losing everything.

Gorgeous & fantastic block print, I have never seen that animal in any bestiary, it's a hell of piece with fantastic visual impact. And it gives more, the more you study it, plus the large size makes it very special. Nice if somewhat laid back dick-inspired statue.
I would not say the bankers were repulsed, they reacted like most well-off people do when they confront art they read as a direct insult, especially when they aided & abetted the creation.

I think that by focusding his attention on the dark suited urban, metro-man he has started off with a completely wrong set of values that epitomizes masculinity. Had he started with imagery drawn from men who work the land, or blue collar men, he would have come up with something very different. I personally as an artist dont see his imagery being all encompassing in what it means to be masculine or to be a man. Metro-men are very different in their ideas and self image to men who are involved in more farming and industrial occupations.
