I have had my x15 605 hp 2050 torque for 2 years now and the only problem I've had was the egr coolant went out at 80,000 miles. Truck now has 330,000 miles on it now and still all good 👍

Steve- (Greatest Salesman ever)... Purchased mine about 6 months ago from you, zero issues. My local Cummins dealer is providing routine maintenance/service, and with the exception of a little fuel mileage loss after the first software update, I am completely satisfied. Pulling flats in the mountains of Kentucky and West Virginia, our’s gets a real work out, but with the 2050 torque we handle the grades with stride, while delivering a solid 6 MPG. Yeah, we sacrifice a little mileage running a big hood 389, but looks and appearance are quite important to us, as our family has always had long hoods since the 90’s. Such praise coming from a Caterpillar lifer, should speak volumes. Keep up the good work!

2050 torque has it's advantages but it will grind your rears all to pieces if you get stuck somewhere and start spinning your wheels to try to regain traction and free yourself... So a lot of, especially heavy haul, operations turn their 2050s back to about 1900 for driveline component safety.

😍I bought an extremely well maintained 2013 Freightliner fleet truck that has a 450 hp Cummins ISX under the hood and I initially had about a $45,000.00 maintenance nightmare with that engine until I took it to The Cummins Gold Store in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and had it worked on properly and had The DPF Filter and DOC Cannister replaced on it at about 650,000 miles, since then this baby has run like an absolute beast and I have had absolutely zero engine related problems all of the way up to my present 850,500+ miles and still hammering at 1,600 rpms all day long!😍

They knew it was an issue it was their mistake but never fessed up to it and let all their customers foot the bill. Paid 19K they did policy it gave me back 7K so in the end I paid 12K that should still be in my pocket. That was very dirty on their part.

In the past one year Oct '19 and Oct '20 I've run two X15 engines and while I like them a lot and have had no issues with them, I don't understand the banging / slapping / clanging noises these engines make especially when you get into the throttle, the louder they get. While the engines sound like they are about to spill their guts all over the highway, after a while I've learned to ignore the noise and run. I've never heard a H-D diesel make that sound before and I wish Cummins would at least educate us as to what the noise is and what effect it has on the engine if any. The noise emanates from the drivers side of engine and sounds exactly like steel smacking steel. At 125k miles, it starts hard and slow and shutdown occurs in less than 2-seconds flat which is kind of frightening but again, just ignore it and go about business. It's a great running engine, just has a few quirks that take some getting used to. All the X15 engines do it, just don't understand it.

So if I get a 16 or newer truck with a Cummins it will be this good engine? I was actually probably going to buy a 2016 T680 with a Cummins soon so that would be good to hear.

2017 and up from what I've seen. In 2017 you have to watch out to make sure it's an x15 as their are some with isx engines with the known liner problem.

@@lungelinecowboy thanks for the reply. I will wait a little longer so I can get a 2017 with the X15.

Improved fuel economy in 2017 if you can hold out for one of those.

Thats hard to hear about a dealership. Any Cummins facility can handle it. You dont have to go to the dealer where it was purchased.

@@SteveCarbone, Peterbilt at Amarillo Tx scam me, they said that it was a loose hose clamp on radiator hose, I took it back to Peterbilt at okc and they’d found the problem, they said it was the egr cooler witch that’s what I ask them to check the very first time I went there, I’ll find out if that’s what the problem was, thanks for the feedback
