Taylor Sander (born March 17, 1992) is an American volleyball player, a member of the United States men's national volleyball team and PGE Skra Bełchatów, gold medalist of the 2014 World League and 2015 World Cup, bronze medalist in Rio 2016.

Such a shame that he was injured for a while and had to get surgery, gave other outsides like DeFalco and Muagututia a shot for 2020. His recovery is looking good though, and I expect to see him in Tokyo 2021.

The problem exists not only in Volleyball: everyone sees actions from hitter (Taylor Sander at the video), but no one sees the setter's work.
All the hits are only possible IF setter makes the job good. Even more: on that professional level with good block - the good hits are at more than 70% "performed" by setter because only setter decides (and processes) whom to set the ball, at which location, at which trajectory and how fast. All those decisions are done DURING the hitter prepares the strike-out and they are performed according to pre-selected combination (like "wave", "cross", etc.), quality of defence/ball-receive, positions of block-players on other side, positions and actions of own hitters, etc.
In fact after a good ball-set by setter, the hitter has none or only one block player - like it's visible in many cases on the video - and needs just to meet the field and don't meet the blocker (or meet him to "block-out"), which is much easier. Many players could become to be a good hitter, but much less players could be a good setter.
Similar in soccer: many players could hit the goal if they have only goalkeeper in front and enough time, but not that much players can prepare the shoot in difficult conditions like Lionel Messi could. But after a goal - who receives compliments? Exactly - the shooter. However in soccer there is also statistic for passes causing a goal...
Now watch again the video and check the setter's work: check why the hitter get hitting position without or only with single blocker...
Of cause this doesn't reduce the real high level of Taylor Sander, but always keep in mind: he could not play that good without perfect setter.
