To the people in the chat who see Terence as an underdog:
Do you seriously think that Neil deGrasse Tyson, Joe Rogan, Kyle, and countless other people would have spent any amount of time talking about Terence's treatise if one of you had written it and put it on your blog? Do you think they'd _ever_ give _us_ the time of day, would _ever_ waste time carefully dissecting our insane theories?
The _only_ reason the spotlight is on Terence is that he is a) rich and b) already famous. He. Is not. An underdog. He's a privileged celebrity-he's just not privileged enough for the whole world to pretend reality is wrong and he is right.

I don't buy his whole "1x1 is a metaphor" shit. He's just saying that because so many people have called out how ridiculous it is and he's obviously getting embarrassed. I unfortunately watched a little bit of that Oxford presentation. The students were challenging him on the 1x1 and he was arguing for it. Literally. Not metaphorically. Does Terrance understand that physics is about math? Can he even do the math? "Conversational" youtube physics is not real physics. Same thing with engineering. It's all math. That's the language you have to learn and use if you want to be taken seriously, not buzzwords(not to mention he doesn't even get those right) If he wants to be relevant and contribute something to science he needs to do the work and go back to school. I'm not saying that to be mean, I'm serious. If he's this interested in it, then he should really commit to it. The hardest part, for him it seems, would be learning humility.
EDIT: after watching the video for 2 more minutes, Kyle just said the exact same thing I said about language. I'm glad to know we're on the same page lol

@@heatherr4321 I think the guest was probably too advanced to explain things to a child. Terrance seems to be more concerned with the linguistics and has trouble conceptualizing things in a practical way. I assume that he knows what a grocery store is unless his maid or instacart does the shopping for him. But I'd just tell Terrence that Multiplicaiton is tool used to measure the relationship between groups. And that a grocery bag is something that can group an item. So if he had 2 grocery bags with 4 apples each would give you 8 apples, or 2 times 4 equals 8. And 1 orange in another grocery bag would give you 1 orange, or 1 times 1 equals 1. And if Timmy takes the orange out of the one bag without letting you know, and you check the bag to see that it's missing, the mathematical representation of that is 0 oranges. But if you must use multiplication to measure the relationship between the bag and the orange then it would be 1x0=0. So 1 times zero equals zero isn't saying that the orange disappeared into oblivion, it's just telling you that the specific item you're trying to measure or observe isn't part of the equation or the device (grocery bag) used to group the item.

What makes asking questions great is trying to find or come up with an answer to those questions, which is not something people who just ask questions (and usually imply the fact that they, and maybe the people they pose them to, don't know the answer means there is none) are doing.

Say I'm the boss at a company that makes electronic devices, and someone comes in and wants to get hired for a position as an electrical engineer. If I ask them, "What is Ohm's law?" and they cant answer that? I'm not going to hire them, because they clearly haven't done even the most basic level of education about the subject that they would need to be competent in (competent, not even an expert, mind you) in order to do the work I would require of them.

    TLDR:
In the game Risk, there is a strategy called Australian Turtle. Basically, it takes a low priority territory that has only one choke point where all your forces are concentrated. The reenforcements gained per turn are small but since Australia is so low priority, people forget about it while they waist resources on each other and allow your army to trickle into more than they can handle.
Lots of people are as ignorant as Howard and very gullible. Silence people like him, and they will still grow underground and eventually challenge the world anyway. Let the entire world see them regardless if there is an immediate challenger (Terrance's first Rogan appearance) and the appropriate challengers will find them much faster. The world will also be much smarter for having learned WHY he is wrong.

He needs to meditate on what it means to be a scientist and if that is actually something that he wants. He has to capacity to be a scientist... if he can accept the reality that he is wrong about so many things. In fact, I would say that people who listen to Joe Rogan are MORE informed, because they're willing hear different perspectives. Try not to forget, that a large portion of Jpe Rogans guests were prior listeners before agreeing to appear on his show. That means there are PLENTY of PhD's that are listening to Joe Rogan. Your attitude is really disgusting, especially your contempt for millions of people who you insinuate are fools, based on ZERO evidence. I am not against Terrance Howard, but he needs to go through all the mathematics that anyone in Science or Engineering would go through. I remember retaking classes that I failed at first. It is hard stuff. I think that he would really find out so many things that he never knew. If anything Mr. Howard has the wherewithal to continue doing research while the majority of who took those classes had to get a job and hope not to get cut in the next round of layoffs.

It made sense to me. People have a hard time seeing a person as a multifaceted entity. And we've reached a point where if you agree with someone on something, people automatically assume that you agree with him on everything. That's how people that had legitimate questions about the vaccines were labeled as anti-vaxxers and anti-science. Another example is how Republicans who agree with Democrats on some basic things are automatically labeled as RH.I.N.O.s . Or if you admit that Trump sometimes makes a good point or has done something good, you're automatically a Trump supporter.
Kyle probably learned this the hard way over the years and now makes that everyone knows what he's supporting and what he isn't.

Why...well because people deserve to have at least one pointless luxury item in their life, or a thing that can be used to signal for help if you are in trouble. I mean people totally deserve to have like food, shelter, medical care, human and civil rights too... but I think you should have the self confidence in yourself to say you can own a real physical megaphone if you want one.
