00:20 - Close was just nominated for five European Film Awards...what does the Best Actor nod for Eden Dambrine symbolize for you?
03:53 - How do you think about color and what were you looking to achieve here?
08:05 - ....I'm touched by your what you say about looking at life through art...
09:24 - There is this great Altmanesque long zoom shot - yr observational approach and the assortment of shots don't always capture shifts in Leo’s mindset....
15:20 - Émilie Dequenne’s character is at Leo’s mercy for information - but almost like a priest, she is the only one who can give him a pardon. How much of a challenge was it to build this dynamic mother of another son rapport?
20:30 - What does you daily life look like after everything will be said and done for Close?

Enjoyable interview. Thanks for posting. I saw the movie twice and loved it, although it's quite an emotional film.

Eden nailed that part and this was his acting debut at the age of 13, that's absolutely amazing. He totally earned and deserved that
nomination and should have got the award. It saddens me that we are losing him to ballet because he could become such a wonderful
    actor/director.

Amazing articulation of his cinematic decisions through the lense of his understanding of the dynamics of his subject matter.

I was listening to an interview with Lukas at the Lincoln Center, and he used the term, armor. The woman who was interviewing him was confused, as there's a perception of armor as making you into a superhero of sorts. Instead, Lukas thinks of armor as something that protects or isolates you so that you don't get hurt, but not a physical kind of hurt, instead a emotional kind of hurt. It is interesting to hear some articulate in English, and yet using words differently from a native speaker, even the choice of words such as emotionality which isn't quite right, but has a kind of non-native mastery.

I love this comment. You're so right, there's a different inteligence you see with people who speak multiple languages, they perceive some words and terms differently and find new ways to express themselves through that
