Basically, the remake is a gorgeous work of art. However... the devs reimagined some of the architecture, gear, music, and enemy designs throughout. The result was that the die-hard fanbase was furious - since the new changes didn't align with the lore. It's still a fantastic experience and utterly beautiful. Seeing Demon's Souls really makes you realize how tuned up the bosses in Elden Ring are. Like compare Phalinx to Margit. Or The Old Hero to Starscourge Radahn.
I went from Elden Ring as my first game to demons souls (just got to flamelurker) and the difference is wild. Can't wait to see how the bosses change throughout the rest of the series.

I feel like the reason this game looks so good is that it is the perfection of ‘last-gen’ graphical techniques with the horsepower to make it look clean AF, no raytracing or upscaling or lumen destroying the overall clarity.
I'm not very well versed in the technical aspects of things but I was convinced this game used some form of ray tracing in the cinematic mode but you're right, it just trades resolution for performance. Makes sense looking back. I wonder how the lighting looks so compelling though.
Demons Souls was the first thing I picked up for my PS5. And that experience stuck with me. It was and IS the most beautiful game I have played on it, from a graphics and art standpoint. And everything in the game just seemed to have so much heft.

The remake has absolutely insane graphics but they kinda fucked up the art direction. It feels very removed from the original and literally just looks like "generic fantasy"

I finished playing this game yesterday. I only played Cod and gta 5 my whole life. Taking this path to play the rest of the soulsborne games is going to give me great character development. I’m surprised more people don’t do this instead of farming: 4-2, adjudicator bonfire, use a bow to kill the necromancer, rinse and repeat however many times you need. That’s how I got my infinite arrows for my archery build, and the reason I never run out of grass or spice.
I miss Charlie streaming because I often would just turn it on and watch it while I did other things, however despite that I'm really happy to see that Charlie is still doing the things he loves without feeling the pressure of having a live audience or feeling obligated to do certain things. Hoping that this time away is allowing you to detox from the internet.
Charlie sees to have more fun not having to babysit chat and have it constantly pull him out of the immersion and experience. I'm starting to see more and more problems and cons to streaming...

Is it a bad thing that there are some people take issue with the remake's art direction and music composition? I think people being passionate with how they feel a remake falls short of representing the spirit of the original is only a testament to Demon's Souls cult classic legacy. It's not even like those that dislike the remake make up some large majority anyway.
@CJojo_13_ it's just annoying and asinine when people are served a delicious cake of a remake and call it a shit pie for some eyebrow raising reasons. Does the game have the same color grading as the original? No, but the art direction is still there, still respected, still amazing, and given a very needed and deserved face lift with some heavily upgraded graphics. Is the music the exact same? No, but that's part of what makes it a remake. Yeah maiden astrea isn't even remotely the same song as it was in the original, but it's certainly a much more impressive and enjoyable song that the original was. Plus it serves as more of a garl vinland theme anyways which is who you're really fighting and who the theme should've always been about since he's the one protecting something and you're the one taking/harming something. It's just that when a remake/remaster is far more than what the original fans ever even asked for or thought they would get, and they still complain as if it's horrible, just go kick rocks guys. If that's how they want to behave then the remaster isn't shitty. They're just shitty fans.

And as with the music, the old music had that old charm yes, if they hadn't changed it, it just wouldn't fit with the new graphics. Brings me back to that time when I bought this game as one of my first starter pack. Played for like an hour day 1. Swore to never touch it after getting terrified by classic jumpscares and seeing how the game can constantly screw me over Then went back to it after 2 weeks passed just to get addicted and play all day long for a month. The level system + NG+ just kept me going
I remember back in High School, my freshman year in 2009, my friend recommended the original game to me. I told him it didn't really seem like my type of game, so he told me he'd give me $100 if I beat it without dying, but if I died once I owe him $20. It was the best $20 I ever lost.
As graphically impressive as this game is, I think I still prefer the way the original game looks. It’s mostly the art style and atmosphere, the remake made a lot of the medieval architecture more Victorian, and changed a lot of enemy designs to be more generic and gross (not in the good way). That made the gross stuff in the original less special. It feels like the identity was lost in translation. The music was made to be more like Dark Souls, basically becoming epic remixes. It wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for the that songs were completely changed along with iconic parts being completely gone (rip melody to Phalanx) and the fact you can’t use the original soundtrack Plus, they completely ruined Tower of Latria, which was my favorite area in the game and one of my favorite areas in any game I’ve played. Gameplay wise, the remake improves a lot from the original. But it’s at the cost of what made the so unique and interesting.

In highschool around 2017 my buddies showed me bloodborne, I then went on to beat ds3, ds2, then ds1 in that order, Sekiro released a month after I finished 1. Few years later elden ring released and I went out of my way to platinum too. When I finally beat the dlc after a long long wait I went to the start with demons souls remastered, killing allant and ending the full fromsoft saga with the original final boss was truly remarkable
This remake was crazy good. It honestly is better looking than Elden ring. From the graphics comparisons they were similar, but demon’s souls was darker and more gritty with colors that popped while Elden ring just looked like an overly saturated washed out image like most modern games. I mean it looked amazing, but demons souls looks more like a gritty game like it should. Game devs take note. The human eye becomes less sensitive to colors when you over stimulate your color receptors. So in demons souls when something is colorful on screen it becomes the focus and its color is more stimulating to the human brain making the color pop more and honestly making a game look better. The color grading of a game is an art form and should be seen as one.

I really hope this company doesn't remake Bloodborne. The Demon's Souls remake looks more like another company attempting a soulslike than a Fromsoft game. It doesn't necessarily look bad, it just feels more generic somehow.
I think the Remake is fine. I don't think Bluepoint are exempt from criticism but people completely writing off the entire Remake cuz of a few art choices is really ignorant in my opinion. And to be quite honest, I think they missed the mark on a few things and I think they learned a lot from Demon's Souls Remake and I think if they did do Bloodborne they would bolster it quite a lot.

Try adding a couple pieces from the imperial spy outfit with the outfit that you get from the King. And you kind of look like an assassin from ancient Rome and your weight is way down still get plenty of armor

Honestly W, I would recommend playing the games in release order, but you should still play Sekiro even though it’s technically not a ‘soulsborne’

Yeah maiden astrea isn't even remotely the same song as it was in the original, but it's certainly a much more impressive and enjoyable song that the original was. Plus it serves as more of a garl vinland theme anyways which is who you're really fighting and who the theme should've always been about since he's the one protecting something and you're the one taking/harming something.
It's just that when a remake/remaster is far more than what the original fans ever even asked for or thought they would get, and they still complain as if it's horrible, just go kick rocks guys.
If that's how they want to behave then the remaster isn't shitty. They're just shitty fans.

It's fine if you appreciate or even prefer the color grading and graphics of the old game but saying it's terrible despite the amazing graphics and texture updates is just annoying. And as with the music, the old music had that old charm yes, if they hadn't changed it, it just wouldn't fit with the new graphics. It would be cool if they added a og song shift option in settings though.

Brings me back to that time when I bought this game as one of my first starter pack. Played for like an hour day 1. Swore to never touch it after getting terrified by classic jumpscares and seeing how the game can constantly screw me over
Then went back to it after 2 weeks passed just to get addicted and play all day long for a month. The level system + NG+ just kept me going

I remember back in High School, my freshman year in 2009, my friend recommended the original game to me. I told him it didn't really seem like my type of game, so he told me he'd give me $100 if I beat it without dying, but if I died once I owe him $20. It was the best $20 I ever lost.

As graphically impressive as this game is, I think I still prefer the way the original game looks. It’s mostly the art style and atmosphere, the remake made a lot of the medieval architecture more Victorian, and changed a lot of enemy designs to be more generic and gross (not in the good way). That made the gross stuff in the original less special. It feels like the identity was lost in translation.
The music was made to be more like Dark Souls, basically becoming epic remixes. It wouldn’t be a problem if it weren’t for the that songs were completely changed along with iconic parts being completely gone (rip melody to Phalanx) and the fact you can’t use the original soundtrack
Plus, they completely ruined Tower of Latria, which was my favorite area in the game and one of my favorite areas in any game I’ve played.
Gameplay wise, the remake improves a lot from the original. But it’s at the cost of what made the so unique and interesting.

In highschool around 2017 my buddies showed me bloodborne, I then went on to beat ds3, ds2, then ds1 in that order, Sekiro released a month after I finished 1. Few years later elden ring released and I went out of my way to platinum too. When I finally beat the dlc after a long long wait I went to the start with demons souls remastered, killing allant and ending the full fromsoft saga with the original final boss was truly remarkable

This remake was crazy good. It honestly is better looking than Elden ring. From the graphics comparisons they were similar, but demon’s souls was darker and more gritty with colors that popped while Elden ring just looked like an overly saturated washed out image like most modern games. I mean it looked amazing, but demons souls looks more like a gritty game like it should. Game devs take note. The human eye becomes less sensitive to colors when you over stimulate your color receptors. So in demons souls when something is colorful on screen it becomes the focus and its color is more stimulating to the human brain making the color pop more and honestly making a game look better. The color grading of a game is an art form and should be seen as one.
Yes. Demon’s Souls remake devs just needed to focus on the graphics and the game is like 10x smaller than Elden Ring.

2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 cup chopped green onions
1 cup chopped parsley

2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 ½ teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ground white pepper
½ pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
½ pound scallops
½ cup shredded Swiss cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fill a large pot with lightly salted water and bring to a rolling boil. Cook fettuccine at a boil until tender yet firm to the bite, about 8 minutes. Drain once done cooking.

Meanwhile, pour cream into a large skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until just about boiling. Reduce heat and add green onions, parsley, basil, thyme, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and white pepper. Simmer until thickened, 7 to 8 minutes.

I really hope this company doesn't remake Bloodborne. The Demon's Souls remake looks more like another company attempting a soulslike than a Fromsoft game. It doesn't necessarily look bad, it just feels more generic somehow.
I think the Remake is fine. I don't think Bluepoint are exempt from criticism but people completely writing off the entire Remake cuz of a few art choices is really ignorant in my opinion. And to be quite honest, I think they missed the mark on a few things and I think they learned a lot from Demon's Souls Remake and I think if they did do Bloodborne they would bolster it quite a lot.

The environmental storytelling is arguably just as important in their games as the item lore. Try adding a couple pieces from the imperial spy outfit with the outfit that you get from the King. And you kind of look like an assassin from ancient Rome and your weight is way down still get plenty of armor
