About Metalocalypse:
Metalocalypse is Adult Swim's blackest, most brutal comedy. Coming straight to your face from Brendon Small (Home Movies) and Tommy Blacha, it centers around the band Dethklok, a global metal sensation with enormous economic power and social influence. Dethklok includes Nathan Explosion on vocals, Skwisgaar Skwigelf on lead guitar, Toki Wartooth on rhythm guitar, William Murderface on bass, and Pickles the Drummer as...himself. Unfortunately, these guys are more interested in boozing, doing drugs, and causing mass destruction than in putting out new albums. Their careless attitudes cause band manager Charles Ofdensen almost constant strife as he tries to salvage Dethklok's public image and protect them from a mysterious organization known as The Tribunal. Sign a pain waiver and head over to AdultSwim.com for the harshest comedy experience of your pathetic life.

I love how even though Pickles is physically violent and tearing the place up, he still is like "oh shit, sorry" when he comes upon the lady on the toilet 😂
He's not a total dick, he just wants a drink.
Professionals have standards
Proper manners bruh
I mean it’s not her fault he’s there
He did take a little look-see before backing off, though.
This is literally the most underrated fucking show in the history of underrated shows.
Amen.
+Footlong Pack Yeah, sucks how Adult Swim is treating it and its fans.
adultswims is being dildos
yeah and now brandon cant even use the band name "dethklok" anymore that's why he's using galaktikon as of now.
and I heard he's releasing galaktikon II similar to dethklok's songs
are u fuking kidding me? fuck adult swim!!!
give brendon the right to make more dethklok songs
yah but it's not the same people in the band it's just him and a bass player right
Eric Johnson they are's dildos
KevinPony1 I had no idea, you sir have just made my day
Eric Johnson it' the exact same fucking people that make the Dethalbum songs. Same guitarist, drummer and bassist. Even the music producer is the same dude.
@@steamedrice97 i dunno how true your comment is, i just liked it cause majima.
Edit: you uploaded a song on my favorites. Small world.
Small internet world.
I love how its all dramatic then it just ends with him like "no."
Considering Seth is still a Colossal Douchebag to Pickles, on top of all the other shit he's done, I'd say Pickles has every reason to not forgive him.
seth really is poinson. This is a great parody of rehab because this is one of the biggest problems with 12 step programs. toxic people SHOULD NOT BE FORGIVEN
@@Twilightiger96 while I do agree with you there's the point that is still vary true. That's that by holding that event inside you (or whoever) you are NOT moving past it. Personally about 5 years ago I just got clean from a 15 year heroin addiction and while I've been to NA meetings and I haven't worked the steps, I really don't think I can work that part because I admit I still carry demons that I still can't face, ...I can absolutely see how holding something inside whether you are at fault or someone else, carrying that truly is like poison to your system.
Even if it is someone else's fault you are hurting yourself by not moving past it, in this case (in the video), not forgiving his brother. I admit I wouldn't be able to do it. Either way he has to find a way to move past it where he can let go of that event and find strength from it.
@@nullakjg767 Its a complicated but pretty necessary part of moving past abuse. It's not lifting guilt for the person who did you harm, it's so you can feel like you can move on from what happened to you. By "forgiving" you allow yourself the opportunity to move on, you can tell yourself "I can live without having this hurt me".
Of course, not all abuse is equal and some harm is just too great to forgive. It's all extremely personal.
@@nullakjg767 It's less forgiving the person and more allowing yourself to stop letting a toxic person or incident control your life.
I used to be a heroin addict, and ended up working at rehab when I got clean. I actually met a lot of people like Pickles. It was pretty awesome to see people working through all this terrible shit they went through. The only job I’ve ever had where I genuinely felt like I made a difference
Hope you are still in control, and also, such a job mustn't be easy or that recognive. But you still took the time to just sinply care, you poured your energy, and time and I find that admirable. Just to be able to care about one another and show compasion is a depleting quality
That is so metal. Congrats. Hope you are still doing well
brutal
Was Kirk Hammett one of the doctors where you worked?
30 years opioid addict. 7 years clean now. Brutal.
1:17 I love the doctor's face, he really is trying to get them get straight, and isn't just a sadist
I caught that too. I feel like when people reach a certain stage of addiction that kind of tough love is required. You have to be very stern but caring at the same time.
This is the kind of attention to detail that gets fans
He looks kinda like trump
@@benjaminsignorelli8153 He does look exactly like trump
I don't know what you guys are smoking but he looks nothing like Trump.
My favorite thing about this is how passionate that doctor is about saving these people. He speaks with all his heart that he wants to help them, to get them clean, but he knows the only way is for them to admit why and that's the hardest part. This doctor is a legendary character on the show and even though it's likely he'll never appear again, he deserves credit for being the only person to get Pickles to admit to his deep seated issues and conquer his alcohol and drug abuse. That is fucking impressive to me. Hats off to this virtual character.
115madmax I was scouring the comments to see if anyone shared the same opinion. From his voice, to his facial expression, even his rolled up sleeves. This guy isn’t messing around
@@usernamesarepointless true, he remained a user, but i feel like after this point it became more recreational and less like he was trying to numb the pain he felt about his brother betraying him. idk
@@usernamesarepointless There's a fine line between addiction and recreational drug use.
And his singing voice is phenomenal
@DP91 I choose to think that Pickles doesn't drink because of Seth anymore at the end of the episode, he does it because he wants to. Still very unhealthy, but it makes sense to me.
when pickles really said “it’ll have to dOoOoooOo “
*chefs kiss* immaculate
The vocals after that are mmmmhmmmmmm
The doctor slays it.
Can't beat Jack Black.
AverageJoesChannel
Except it's not Jack, it's the amazing Brendon Small who does all the gruntwork (check the credits online). Although Jack was featured in the Doomstar Requiem.
I thought the doctor was James Hatfield
Potatomuffin that link says Kirk Hammet was the doctor. Not James Hetfield
I'm pretty sure Jack Black is singing from 0:50 to 1:04 at a minimum his singing is pretty unique. Maybe they ran over their budget.
1:17 I love how genuinely concerned the doctor looks when he asks "why do you drink?"
The show is absolutely littered with small details like this that are easy to miss.
@@maltt8715 this ^^^
Character development in this show was so good. And it's hard to beat the sound track. I really miss metalocalypse.
Daniel Ward They have it on Hulu.
Daniel Ward I do too. Rick and Morty didn't deserve to steal its shine.
You know this episode ends with him getting smashed and saving the band. The most development they have is him accepting that his brother is why he drinks.
Gr3nadgr3gory its eleven minutes b
lxBlackiexl I was more thinking the moral of the story is who cares why you drink, just keep it under control
I love that he kicks a door in rebelliously and then apologizes and backs off when it's the women's restroom.
All he wants is a drink lmao
@@TheCopyNinja733 and they wouldn’t give it to him
Gotta love how brutally honest these songs are.
This show has a really lax tone most of the time. They treat death like it isn’t a big deal. The band members tend to be pathetic and petty about everything.
*You don’t expect this kind of serious tone.* You might have even thought this sketch was meant to be played comedically at first, but a lot of people who have been through this probably caught on immediately to his withdrawals. Then the music actually starts to get epic.
*You start to realize this is a real world problem.* Even a show like this knows how serious substance abuse is, despite constantly making a joke out of it. They know how to convey that feeling of torment when it really matters to the main cast themselves. We’ve been conditioned to relate to the band. *They’re talking to us in a way. That can be scary.*
Childhood trauma can even go beyond the realm of substance abuse. Everyone has been through some kind of trauma or another, and suffer lifelong psychological issues as a result. This show has tackled or goes on to tackle these issues with the rest of the band as well.
The heart of music is when it hits you deep and connects with you, and nothing is more metal than having to confront your darkest fears.
Did you mean to say pathetic or did you mean to say apathetic? I haven't seen the show so either works just wanting to know which one
@@AmazingAutist I've seen the show and really either works for them haha
Brendon Small is a surprisingly awesome vocalist. This show, and the music, really impressed me the first time I watched this...its rare for a TV show to adopt a musical element, in fact I can't think of another show like this.
I agree
Big time rush had humor, I just watch it cause of that.
True. But they lasted for like 6 months
I could shit on my hands and call it breakfast
+Mike Zilla Funniest thing about the show is that it's highly satirical in nature and it more or less mocks metal (in a good way of course)
It's a wonder how Pickles hasn't killed his brother already.
It's a wonder how he still even talks to his family
TheSarahkitten42 Someone like him will have a deserving fate come the final season.
maybe is becouse every day drink beer he forget to kill him :D
Because he can't kill him. He's so destructively codependent on his family that he could never off Seth without losing any hope of getting his parents' approval. Member when he quit dethklok and became a real estate agent just to please his mom?
TheSarahkitten42 Because isn't Pickles the most normal of the guys in the band? I mean really he knows what the "Food Library" was, he acts normal compared to the rest of them, and the only issue is he is a alcoholic while everyone else has much much more issues like Murderface struggling being bisexual or just some homosexuality in general and drinking and his weird chocolate farts and his traumatic murder/suicide visions some how remembering being a baby and seeing it all.
The entire Pickles rehab rock opera is amazing. It not only sounds good and was nicely animated, but there's a lot of truth in what he has to say.
One of the best parts for me is when the doctor starts talking about how the patients need to talk about the reasons they get high and the walls fall away to reveal a fiery pit that's supposed to be hell. For anyone with addictions or other mental issues, this is a great visual to explain the feeling. No one stuck in addiction or other damaging behavior finds any of it pleasant. As the doctor sings, Pickles sees flashes of his brother. He knows the reason he drinks, but he comes up with all these excuses to make it seem like he's just a cool guy who likes alcohol instead of being a guy who was hurt as a young child by his brother (and other family) and used it as an escape.
Then the doctor and medical staff are shown with horns, to represent that they're seen as the villains, as part of the hell that Pickles must endure. In reality, they're trying to help him, but he sees them as bad for forcing him to stew in his hell.
Then, when he reveals the reason he really drinks, the hell closes up.
It's not just a brutal and awesome song with excellent visuals, it has a lot of meaning to it.
You do realise we're all watching the same video right? All you did was type out the events of the clip we just watched, thanks captain obvious
FeldbergThePlayer It wasn't a recounting of events, it was discussing the events in the video.
***** That would have been brutal, I agree. They could have used music only.
00
Addison Bortion Lmao
I love how this show takes upon different subgenres and deliveries of metal. And here, of course, ROCK OPERA
You mean Opera Rock?
no
I mean, I know Rock Opera is a completely different thing from Metal, but Rock Opera is pretty metal.
1:03- 1:13- I can't believed I just noticed this, but just as the doctor mentioned "The Cause for your (Pickles) abuse", you can see flashes of Seth's smug-prick mug looking at the screen.
Starts at 0:54. It’s easier to see when watching the show bc it’s a higher quality
Yeah it’s amazing, it implies Pickles DOES know the root of why he drinks, but is too afraid to say it in the moment until he’s pushed to his limit.
Man, i know this show was humor and a joke, but this rehab part of the opera kinda hits me, specially the part where they ask why he drinks and he refuses to tell, and the doctor really wanna help pickles to get clean, i love it
Brendon Small has a huge grasp on psychology
But seriously Seth is asshole.
"YOU MUST FORGIVE YOUR BROTHEEEEEER!!!" - Doctors
"No way." - Pickles
LMAO
"Tonight, I'm going to burn down the garage."
+008DREW Pickles, NO!

I say this every single day.
The slight head banging by the doctors really makes this scene
I get the feeling that this episode was a test run for Doomstar Requiem--see how the fans reacted.
I'm guessing rather well.
sadly this track isnt on the OST and i agree with you.
Extremely valid, I could see that being the case.
I fucking loved Doomstar Requiem
@@juliusmoe-nstar8942 who didn't?
Julius Moe-nstar pickles singing sucks in this song compared to his singing in the movie
I've been a daily drinker for the entire 13 years of my adult life. Like
Pickles, I started drinking to cope with family trauma. I drank because
the drink made me feel good, next thing I knew I couldn't feel good
without the drink. Fast forward, then I just felt bad even when I was
drinking but I had to drink like it was a daily obligation. Come 2020
people started noticing and commenting on my drinking. Early this year I
got septic shock (got food poisoning while I was sick with pneumonia,
can you believe that? haha) and almost kacked it for good. The doctor
told me they could tell I was heavy drinker from my lab work and that my
organs can't handle that kind of drinking and that if I continue
drinking then it's highly unlikely I would fully recover. Then I thought
of my dad who'd been hospitalized twice for alcohol abuse, once for
poisoning when I was a kid, and a second time when I was an adult for
full blown organ failure. I knew that could easily be me, so I accepted
that I have a problem with alcohol and that I need help to quit drinking
and stay sober. I called up a good friend and asked to be driven to an
AA meeting the day after I was discharged from the hospital. I stuck
with it, allowed myself to be coached, and now I've got 72 days - more
than 2 solid months - of no booze! That's by far the longest period of
time I've ever gone without a drink since I started at 17! It's not
easy. I'm having ups and downs, I'm remember things I'd forgotten,
changing old ideas about the world, and learning to reconnect with my
inner self, all without my magic potion, and all while recovering from a
deadly illness. But even when my head is on fire from an acute reaction
to sobriety I have hope because of the genuine compassion and comradery
of my loved ones who want to see me heal and from the complete
strangers who welcomed me into the program of AA. There's even other
metalheads in there! We recently listened to Thulcandra after a meeting.
Hang in there friend.
Keep it going my guy, show it that you have the power and not the other way around.
You got this, keep going mate!
brutal dude keep on pushing my brother
I do it because I ignored my family history of it. You don't want to be a woman drunk.

They listened.... sorta. They finally greenlit a finale movie. From there..... who knows?
@@MeowthRocket You dudes probably already know this, but the movie was good and we also got Dethalbum IV out of it, which features Murmaider III
I was soooo disappointed that Pickle's full rehab saga never made it onto any Dethklok albums, it's literally the best song ever written ever
I just really like the doctor in this. He's a man that cares about his patients and wants to help them. The doctor also has really good facial expressions. We see he's concern and he's anger born from concern for his patients. He also sees through Pickels's lies and excuses and confronts him with both facts and consequences if Pickels doesn't tell the truth behind his abusive drinking. After the confession the doctor put his hand on Pickels's shoulder as if to say he's proud of him about coming clean and taking a big step in recovering.
I never know Kirk Hammett could sing until this song. Metallica needs to have him sing more often
Love the detail of how, when the doctor speaks, you're quickly shown images of Pickle's brother that get more and more clear with each passing riff. Helps to really foreshadow the revelation in a way that's only really noticeable on a second viewing.
0:53 I love how during the flashes on the screen they show EXACTLY why Pickles drinks
0:31 to 0:53 deserves it's own song just by itself

in the uncensored version, at 0:25, instead of genitals Pickles has a second red goatie.
"... but we can save youuuuu!!! [Insert Greatest Sound Ever]".
This episode was so frustrating watching Pickles chasing his brother to try to force him to accept his forgiveness. The only person Pickles really needed to forgive was himself, and to let Seth to kick rocks.

Exactly same lol I was scrolling seeing if anyone liked that part to lol
U can even hear it in his voice when he asked a second rime
In case you guys didn't know the rehab doctor is played by Kirk Hammett
Obviously, the sobriety didn't last long--but I'm glad that he went through some form of therapy, temporarily at least. It's good for people. He found out so much about himself--namely, how his brother screwed him over from the start, and how his family always took his side. When he finally moved past it, it was an amazing instance of character development.
I feel like it was a silly but important revelation for Pickles, cuz now he doesn't get drunk to cope with his trauma- he *chooses* to get drunk, and the literal first thing he does when he gets drunk is save his friends. And given that it was the first time he's ever had booze *without* it being to cope with what his brother did to him, I can only imagine that first sip probably felt like he was having his first drink ever in a way. The first drink without all the baggage that was once associated with it.
@@Eva-uw6uo Well said! He drank to escape the memory of his brother, until he drank to save his REAL brothers.
I love this song and scene so much. I went through rehab and they do such a great job boiling it all down and making it metal and palatable.
It's one thing to create a hit show, but to simultaneously create a kickass, catchy, uvula-abusing, sellable soundtrack is absolutely insane. This show is on a level so high, most people can't even see it. Brilliant. Brutal. Brilliantly brutal.
