LA TRAVIATA - Giuseppe Verdi

After the great operas such as Rigoletto (1851) and Il Trovatore (1853), Verdi closed with La Traviata (1853) the so-called "popular trilogy". For the thirst time, an ethical and moral problems, to which the society of that time was not acoustumed, were shown through the music in such a psychological way.
The plot of La Traviata was based on The Lady of the Camellias, by Alexander Dumas, and supposed to be an opera of the great century of romanticism. The passion, the lack of love and doubts are combined with the symphonic music and vocal flourishes, making the work one of the most popular lyric. Translated into many languages, it has been represented in the most prestigious settings around the world.
