You should do a series where you make a slash track worthy and take it to races and show the results. I feel like a lot more people would get into the hobby if they knew they can start with a slash which is a lot less then a tekno kit and slowly upgrade it over time.
Believe it or not, an upgraded Slash is comparable in cost to a dedicated Tekno race rig. Find a lightly used 410.3 and that's about as cheap as you can pick up a race-worthy rig.

Slash's are crap. You'll spend way more than a box stock scte or 410.3 or SCTE 2.0.
@@gotmesom it’s actually about $400 less. I race mine and can be fairly competitive against the teknos. Just need to be consistent in your lap times

I work at Fox Factory 😊 the folks upstairs really dig the UDR lol. A few weeks ago, there was a Fox Raptor on display in front of the building. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a picture. Really digging the random tech tip btw 👌

Where do you get the stand thing to hold your truck up ?
I race mine at the local track in the SCT class. I run GTRs with the blue stripe springs and sway bars with stock 30w oil. I think its perfect...minimal preload required. Also running Proline Holeshots....surprised you went with traxxas tires. Upgraded steering servo is a must, and i can tune everyt8hng with thw stock tranmitter and the link app. Only additional thing i may consider is the optional centre diff over the stock slipper. My primary complaint is the sound of the bumper/body clunking - often mistaked for chassis slap or tire rub....but its actually the bumpers hitting the body.
I’m thinking of getting one to race at my local track too. What trimming would needed to be done to stop the bumper from slapping?
Yup learned how to diagnose that binding issue myself. My dx5 rugged wouldn’t bind with a new hobbywing esc. Called my local hobby shop and I got no help. I kept messing with settings till I got it binded.
Are there other bodies available to fit this chassis? Would be rad to have other bodies to swap on like a Tundra, Silverado and maybe Ram Rebel. I have a slash VXL 4x4, how much different is it driving the R with the wheel base difference?
Cool video. It would be good to see someone film it going round the track and zooming in a bit when its at the far side, would be much be easier to see and more exciting as a result.
I do remember when I first got really into the hobby I would ask the guys that had fast stuff to drive mine and give suggestions on ways to improve. I just like to learn though 🤷🏻♂️

That’s an awesome looking truck Body is that chassis exclusive to that model.
I love my raptor r slash, it was my first slash and I got hooked. I upgraded the shocks to the Ultimate shocks and stiffer springs, and traxxas sway bars, they said they sway bars don’t fit due to the heavy duty kit but it does fit the rear sway bar just fits.

What this raptor r can do seems to fit me best. What is out there that is better than it? I own a raptor so it would be cool to get the rc but I know Traxxas has bigger and badder trucks. Is the Traxxas the best?
Both traxxas and arma are good, Arma doesn’t sue like traxxas when someone makes a part that is compatible with traxxas

I literally did these upgrades 2 weeks ago. I went with blue GTR shocks. And 60 weight all around. But I did 7445 front and 7447 rear.

Preloading is not the same as using a stiffer (higher spring rate) spring. Preloading does not change spring rate but preload does change the force to start moving the shock and high preload dramatically reduces shock performance over smaller bumps and makes for a more harsh ride and worse traction.

The truck looks awesome. it just sucks traxxas isn't any place near me. 4 years in the hobby and the only Traxxas ive seen in person are short course that look at least 5 yrs old. Almost want to to move to a more RC hobby friendly state, almost.
You might as well just have armor Traxxas factories just send you every release that they have you practically have every single RC car that comes out
