I've watched many videos of rocket stoves in the making and uses, this is the best explanation to date. I built a single but, interested in the double use. An Amish neighbor was interested in the single rocket stove, as she said it gets hot in the kitchen. Wait until she see the double rocket stove, I'll be building, after seeing this!
Please be careful when using cinderblocks for a rocket stove. Wet cinderblocks can explode when heated too much. Read other comments and you will see others who will agree that cinderblocks can explode. I hope no one gets hurt.
This us by far the best, and most efficient rocket stove I have ever seen. I've been looking so long for a rocket stove oven, and she has a grill too. Genius, thanks soooooo much for sharing.

My sister recently mentioned the cinderblock grill that a neighbor built nearly 60 years ago and how she wished we had something similar at our camping location. Guess who is getting this video as a share on social media! Extremely versatile. I see something similar in my future.
This is exactly what I need to build. I wanted the oven incorporated and 4 burners. And here you are. Thank you so much for the clear instructions. I know I can do this because of that clarity. Plus a grill. Ingenious. Thank you again!
I made one a couple of days ago and made a few adjustments. Love it! I have made rib-eyes and with my cast iron dutch oven I made a roast with potatoes, carrots and garlic cloves. Absolutely wonderful eating. I will be making a pizza this upcoming week.
So here is a lady that has made a cinder block stove, so let us all gripe, piss, and moan about how it is not a rocket stove. Does it work, yes, can she use 1, 2, 3, or all 4 burners, yes, is she happy with it, yes, is she proud of what she has made, yes, is this a cool idea not following the "norm",yes. So please quit your bitchin' ( pardon my French ) , I plan on building one of these on my back porch and I like hers the best, it works. So get off her back and stop being idiots and down talking to her. So please lady ignore the complainers you have made something cool and something that few people have built because they would rather troll and bitch than get off the couch and do something, you keep at ! Good stove you built there and a good video, thank you.

Well great idea! Just one very important warning. Cement or concrete blocks can explode when heated. It's not an every time occurrence, but as an ex-fireman I've see it. Ordinary bricks will do it sometimes too. That usually happens when the block or brick is wet, like after it's rained. It's the water in them which boils causes steam which can make them explode. Some rocks will do it too. The cost difference in using firebrick is not a lot compared to a trip to the hospital or losing your sight or hurting someone else or damaging your or someone's property. I've seen them explode with enough velocity to throw sizeable pieces across the front yard and street. Please pay the difference and reconfigure the design. You might not have it ever happen or it might be the next time you use it. BTW it has happened when the blocks are damp from a heavy dew or light sprinkle. You MIGHT be able to get away a little cheaper by building most of it with the blocks and line the hot areas with at least one layer of firebrick on the sides and top, but I'd use two layers minimum in the hottest areas like the firebox and oven etc. I am not endorsing, suggesting or advising anyone to usie any blocks/regular bricks in this type of construction. Google exploding blocks! DISCLAIMER: To be perfectly clear and protect myself, I DON'T recommend using ANY block or regular bricks for these type of projects, I am only trying to give you an alternative method that I do NOT endorse, suggest or approve of this alternate method which MAY or MAY NOT be any safer. You assume all risks. If the blocks are damp in the least bit, ithey can explode. I feel morally obligated to warn people of the danger when I see someone using blocks or regular bricks like this. I want a clear conscience in case someone gets injured or killed. This is a very REAL and SERIOUS danger.
@@rollandriehn6404 even dry blocks and plain bricks can explode. Any amount of water trapped inside can cause them to explode. Completely dry ones can too. Has to do with the chemistry makeup of them. People are posting things like this on the web and CZcams and will get someone hurt or killed. The poster will be liable. The reason for firebrick in a fireplace is to reduce the chance of it happening. A fireplace is always dry (unless you have a leak) but also always has firebrick. There's ways to cook that are much safer. 8 firebricks (2 at each corner of the grate) will give you enough room for a small fire. Don't cook on a grill not designed for exposure to fire. A refrigerator shelf will not work, chemicals are given off that could be harmful to the food and the smoke could be dangerous to inhale. Go to the dollar store and get a cheap grill (Less than the cost of blocks or firebrick). Live to enjoy your food. You can cook with many pane directly on the fire too. Buy a good (not the thin ones) cast iron skillet and/or a Dutch oven and you can cook safely over fire all you want, even bake a cake.
Looks cool but I think a redesign is needed for stability. The danger is losing structural stability and a heavy pot of boiling water falling at your feet scalding you. Without the grill that middle section is only supported by 2 unstable cap blocks on edge, even a 3rd in the middle wouldn't help because it wouldn't support a second plane. Without the grill this setup would be very dangerous as the center would collapse if pushed away or pulled towards the cook. Block needs to overlap to be stable and you have the weight of 2 full blocks plus whatever you are cooking on the 4 burners all supported by 2 end caps on edge. Somebody is going to make this with an old rusty scrap grill, or it will get that way quick with a few uses and sitting outside and lose the second plane of support, or they will skip the grill all together and just be balancing on the 2 or 3 caps that will push over or the weight will shift due to a crack that forms and that middle section will come down like a stack of cards.
Jarvis, please send me an email or link to what u suggest. Im a visual learner. How do u suggest building a four burner stove? Email is top health cook at gmail.com. Thanks Roxi
Now who said you need a BBQ grill when you have bricks or cinder blocks. I bet you played a lot of Tetris, didn't you? This is awesome, thnx for sharing!

Love the versatility and the use of 4 burners is great. For your next video please show us you baking something so we can get an idea of how it works and how you control the temperature. This really is a great idea!!
I have heard from various people that heating cinder blocks too quickly can cause the moisture in the blocks to expand and make the blocks explode. Some have said that heating the blocks slowly will not explode the cinder blocks. Be careful.
I haven’t built anything in my life and so this doesn’t come naturally to me. But after watching it a few times I think I’ve got it. I still don’t get how it becomes an oven so if anyone can explain, it will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
you can clean it out 3 ways, 1 way is through the side where you feed the wood in or 2 take the fount 2in cap block off and clean from front or 3 take top off to clean out
It looks like a rocket stove but it's a stove. For the effect of the stove, the blocks can be disposed otherwise. In the rocket stove the flames create a vortex. Where is the vortex?
I cook on the BBQ a lot but the rocket stove like yours would be a great addition, cooking the whole meal without electric power or heating the kitchen during the summer. What a cool little gadget.
The word Explode is a bit dramatic I think and only apply if the blocks were wet and the temperature was raised over the boiling point too quickly. Even then you would just get little chips popping off. When the concrete block gets to temperatures over 500 degrees or so, the cement and aggregate the concrete block are made of will expand at a different rates causing the concrete to crack and cause spalling. As temps get even Higher the cement in the concrete will break down into its original elements and simply disintegrate So exploding isn't the real danger. The big danger is cracking and losing structural stability and a heavy pot of boiling water falling at your feet scalding you, esp with that middle section only supported by 2 unstable cap blocks on edge. Without the grill this setup would be very dangerous as the center would collapse if push away or pulled towards the cook. Block needs to overlap to be stable.
This is my first video of yours & I am wondering how this rocket stove is holding up. I have always wanted one and I now have the blocks leftover from a shed project.

It looks like a rocket stove but it's a stove. For the effect of the stove, the blocks can be disposed otherwise.
In the rocket stove the flames create a vortex. Where is the vortex?
Very nice set up!
thanks
I cook on the BBQ a lot but the rocket stove like yours would be a great addition, cooking the whole meal without electric power or heating the kitchen during the summer. What a cool little gadget.
thanks
Seems like a good idea. Unfortunately I cannot visualize what you are talking about. You have to show me. I cannot understand without seeing.
sorry
WOWWWWW
Great thanks
hi. I would love to see a video with you cooking with your rocket stove. ty
i did a video cooking some potatoes
The Simple Life Homsteading The Pioneer Way
i have done some potatoes, and canning so far
WOW, just wow.
Yall, please be careful using cinder blocks too cook with, they are prone too break under heat,....be careful, don't loose an eye ,
I hear those non fire ccb could explode. ! That why there fire brick made to with strand the heat of fire without exploding
I also have heard of some breaking, mine has not but i thing i will line it with fire brick just in case
As temps get even Higher the cement in the concrete will break down into its original elements and simply disintegrate
So exploding isn't the real danger. Block needs to overlap to be stable.
love you lots Brenda ,
This is my first video of yours & I am wondering how this rocket stove is holding up. I have always wanted one and I now have the blocks leftover from a shed project.
thanks for watching, it's doing good, but i had some connents about the blocks exploadiig so put some fire bricks on the inside also
Nice!
thanks
Not everyone has a spare oven rack. You can buy a piece of stainless steel mesh wire from Homedepot.
right, i just can't get rid of things that might be usefull. so when my stove went out i saved the 2 racks and 4 eyes
