I can only imagine the joy, when it starts after a rebuild. If I had to do this it will most probably take 100 takes and then off to someone that knows what they are doing 🙂
It must be nice to assemble your own motor as you know everything is done correctly. I wonder if the heads on these pentastars can be ported & polished for any extra hp/tq .
nice job , some advice please , what was the reason for the tear down , I have just finished the dreaded rocker replacement , but none were damaged but , I still have metal particals in the oil I am thinking either bigend or mains , any other common failure ?
i had the dreaded blinking engine light...hada mechanic determine it was blow by which turned out to be a broken ring on cylinder 5. there was oil passing the piston and getting everywhere causing the misfire! thanks for watching !
Nice Job! Did you find the total cost of your rebuild to be less than $5K, the average cost of a reman long block? I want to rebuild mine mostly for the satisfaction of having done it myself but the cost of parts and machine work is adding up to almost the cost of a reman engine. Any tips to save $$? Thanks for sharing!
i did it for around $2000. With all the extra stuff a bought like a new clutch while i had it apart it came to around $3000! not bad...the mechanincs wanted $12,000 with labor!!

Nice to see the teardown/rebuild of my daily driver. Once my warranty is up, I plan on taking care of all the engine problems myself where I can.
Good Job

Is it okay to reuse the rod and crank bolts?
