This is the most beautiful scene in the Godfather 3 for me seeing that Michael never ever forgot her even though he married Kay and had children.

I believe that he is crying, but not trying to show it that much. He remembered his first love, Apollonia and their wedding. The lyrics absolutely match the love that Michael felt for Apollonia.

Defientely not first love. he was already love in kay. i guess this reminds the guilt, the regret and the innocent life that couldhave been saved if he she wasnt connected to him.

There is the parallelism between the love of Michael for Apollonia and the love of Vincent for Mary: Michael foreshadowed that Mary would have had died for this risky relationship, and that's also why Michael asked to Vincent to leave her if he wanted to become the new Godfather..

With scenes like these.. how people dare to say that is the worst of the trilogy? have so many quotes..so many good scenes.. a good and tragic end.. it's amazing. Makes me cry everytime i watch it.
The most powerful scenes in the movie were this, the ending where he is on the steps screaming over his loss (can't say who since it's a spoiler) and also when he had a heart attack and screamed "Fredo!"

Mike's flashback of his first wife marrying him provoked by the song in the movie ....... it is the most touching part of the movie to me. It still has an effect on me today.

Nah .... Vincent calling their bluff then coldly dispatching the two intruders has always been the best scene to me.

To me the one happy ending to The Godfather is that Vito’s dream of one of his kin finally having a bright future without crime is seen in Anthony- though he suffered so much tragedy in his youth, he makes himself something he is proud of- Sonny’s son, as Vito knew, would have to take on the burden on the business, but michael’s brings something honorable to the family’s legacy
I believe Tom Hagen’s son became a priest. (Although Tom is adopted, I think he is still family)

Well, generally speaking in Italy people are regularly exposed to other regional dialects/languages due to TV, local cinema and the fact that we are a little country with many people in it. So we can roughly each other even if we speak different variations of Italian. Also, even though regional dialects are different from each to another and different from Italian, they often share similar words and you can certainly find overall similarities. There's though a difference between Italian spoken with regional inflection and the actual regional language, If we go fully regional the difficult will increase. Furthermore, the more you move from south to north, the more people are gonna have a hard time understanding each other if they speak their own language. A southern is more likely to understand a middler than a northern and viceversa. Of course there are regional languages more "famous" than others due to different reasons, for example: Sicilian, Napolitan and Pugliese are more famous and understood than many others, like Sardinian.
So to respond to your question Yes, generally speaking non-sicilian Italians can understand the lyrics of this song, they might not be able to get every single word but the context will let them understand it anyway. Sicilian language is very well represented in Italy in movies, tv, comedy shows, along with many famous Sicilian people.
PS. Regional languages themselves have different variations: I live in Sicily and dialects and words are different from town to town. Even within 20 miles of distance towns have different variations but of course we totally understand each other since the language is basically the same.

It was tragic when Apollonia died but I also felt extremely upset when Vincent broke up with Mary who said " I'll always love you" Vincent replied " Go love somebody else" That killed me!💔

Apollonia was just a woman from a small town she was like a child with no understanding of the world. Kay on the other hand was educated and hence could make decisions on her own. You see Michael's kids were never involved in the family business because of Kay, that would not have happened if Apollina was their mom.
Kay is the typical actual feminist woman = sucks. Apollonia >>>>>>>> Kay
actually no even if she had lived, Michael would have gone back because he knew what his family meant to him, Michael never wanted that fate but thats just how the tragedy goes - infinitely, there is no win, they pull him back every damn time.
The western education and cultuviation finally pulled in Kay's feelings ( see the abrogation in II). What a story! I love the trilogy
People say Godfather 3 is not as good as the previous two, but this scene alone makes Godfather 3 as worthy a sequel as it could be for this saga
Many might say that The Godfather 3 was the worst movie of the trilogy, but I say it's equal. This is a fantastic ending to a deep, sad story.
Michael, the youngest son with the best and brighest future, is the one ending up with the horrible job as leader of the family. While trying to make his father's business legitimate, he risks everything, and loses some of the most important things in the triology: The love, sacrifice and strength of family, and especially women. They are deeply underrated, while being the key to any family and what makes a man "a man", by raising him and loving him.
I say that the ending of the trilogy is utterly fantastic. :D
And Sonny's son becoming The Godfather makes the circle complete.

Ari Bakkeli it's not about the meaning of things but the execution that's not on par with the others; Coppola only had a year to make the movie and 6 weeks for the screenplay, he also left important things out and messed some. Decent 7/10

Ari Bakkeli I think a lot of people don't fully understand the meaning of III. The Godfather Trilogy is as much opera as any movie in its story. And while GFII is always going to be my favorite, I have always found this to be terribly underrated.
