- In our fourth instalment of "Classic Toronto Skate Spots" we showcase one of the most iconic skate spots in the city, The Rogers Centre aka Skydome. Join myself and Ryan Buxton as we take you on a tour of all of the surrounding skate spots by the Skydome & CN Tower area, and relive a lot of tricks that have happened over the last 30 years.
We also dive into a bit of the history as to why the Skydome was renamed to The Rogers Centre, and we do it all in the midst of a Blue Jays game!

Skydome, soo many spots, so many tricks, this was a really great episode
Thanks man!! Such a legendary spot!
Mikey! Its Kodi B.. hope ur good my dudee
Absolutely love this series! Great work Justin! Some spots I think would be really cool to see covered are the underground spots in the Malls/Subways. Used to grow up watching Toronto videos all winter and was fascinated with all the indoor spots in TO
I second that, the indoor and underground Toronto spots always amazed me when I watched Toronto videos.
Don’t you worry about the subway stuff ;) I got you covered on that
Stay with us as we cover all the outdoor spots and lead into Path and indoor subway station spots! It’s coming 🫡
@JustinBehan I love the videos brings me back to the early 2000s wish you got willy Lavignes benihana on skydome on here
The best series of 2024 hands down. And i was there for grants nolie nosegrind on skydome bank.
That’s so much!! And damn that’s epic af
These videos are incredible. I'm from Toronto but only getting into skateboarding now, so its insanely cool to see the history we have here! Makes me look at things differently
Great rundown - glad you got Phil Mcknight in there - much respect to all the TO legends who've hucked down it.
Amazing video boys. So well made
Thank you! 🙏🏻
great video as someone who started skating after highschool i feel like i missed out on all the history and being in canada it feels like the skate history of canada is even more hard to find i appreciate someone putting it all togehter in a good video format with great editing and great commentary. keep it up!
Thanks so much!! Appreciate that! Tons more on the way to add to the few we’ve done so far!
Such a great series! I used to skate downtown Toronto in the early 2000s, We used to head to CBC, Roy Thompson Hall, Commerce court, Skydome banks and hubba every day after school and skate until we couldn't push anymore. Such a golden era; we all had our own crews but the vibes were so chill that crews used to join up and just session together. There was an awesome microcosm of amazing skaters too and I remember being stoked seeing homies like Adam Mancini, Johnny Tang, and Morgan Smith shred these iconic Toronto spots on a random Tuesday.
Hell yeah that’s sick. The golden era of Toronto skating 👌🏻
This just popped up on my recommended videos and I expected you to have a couple hundred thousand subscribers. The fact that you only have one and a half thousand is mind blowing. This was so well done. And I’m from America and don’t really know any Toronto spots. I mean I do but there’s so many spots that I didn’t know we’re in in Toronto. in fact, if I had to pick one city in the entire entire world skateboarding, it might actually be Toronto. Every time I see it Toronto spot in a video, even if I don’t know at the time where it’s at, it just looks so fucking good on video.
Thanks so much! That means a lot!! Maybe one day haha we just started making these spot videos and they’ve been pretty well received and we don’t have any plans of stopping! Toronto is an epic city to skate for sure 👏🏻
Another honourable mention was Jay Geroux BS body varial down the 13 in one of tobys old videos ... growing up i thought that was the coolest thing
I was trying to look for that clip to throw it in and couldn’t find it! I definitely remember it though and it’s still so insane
The smell of Beaver Tails in the air hahaha! Great video, good to have a solid concise video of the history of the sky dome's spots.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 🙌🏻
Great series, I have been searching for something like this for 10+ years on YT
Thank you! The wait is over and we gotchu haha
This was a fuckin joy to watch. 5 stars 10/10 good job boys 👏👏👏
lol that comment non-chalantly near the end "people gonna go watch the jays lose. Its gonna be a good time" had me laughing
Another great one, love this spot, the 13 set is just insane in person!
Thank you! Yeah idk how people skate the set lol it’s so long
Josh kasper tre flip was in 1998 and it was in one of the first Concrete powders or S.B.C. I had the mag. Might still have it I’ll have to check.
I wanna see that!
Facts
sick video. as a skater in england i appreciate any skate spot history. this production quality is on par with the dern bros. keep it up, skaters need this.
Thank you so much! Glad you liked the video and shoutout to England!
Great video! I remember skating that skydome bank as a kid... seeing it in videos and thinking about all the tricks I'd do on it and then actually trying to skate it and realizing how insanely difficult that thing is to skate.
im really loving this series, brings back a ton of memories, keep up the good work boys
Thank you! More to come! 🫡
Peter Ramondetta - backlip to blonde stunner checkout in Circa "It's Time". Pretty sure he also back salad grinded it too!
Dude, this is so good. Bringing back memories of my youth 👌🏻
Appreciate that! It’s dope to be able to bring people back to so many eras of skating
this series is so awesome! Thanks for for doing these! reliving my teen years
I love this series. I tried to skate the banks in 2007 in my prime. It was highly underrated, it was so difficult I didn't understand how so many tricks were done on it. As for Skydome 13, that set is HUGE, and the rail is high. Not like some USA spots where they look big on camera, n u go there, and it looks smaller than u imagined. Thanks for posting this!!! I was there when Dallas Ives was filming his part but we just ran into those guys at like 2am at commerce. He did everything basically every single try. We didn't end going to the BLTWO premiere and it's one the biggest mistakes of my life. We didn't kno it was gonna be that crazy. Duncan absolutely shreds.
That’s epic man! Damn! Yeah canadian spots need more love and credit haha and that’s what we’re here for 🫡 all those dudes as well are next level
Man this takes me back to when I was a kid tearing up ledges with my buds. This also makes me feel old a.f. seeing the dates on the skate videos hahaha Girl's YEAH RIGHT to this day my fav skateboarding video. The invisible skateboards BLEW MY MIND when I was a young skateboarder hahaha. Anyways Im wildly impressed with your knowledge of these spots and the trick that were thrown down at em. Very cool. Lifetime sub FA SHO. 👊
Appreciate that!! Thank you and more videos to come! Haha Yeah Right blew my mind and still does to this day lol
@@JustinBehan Totally. Also how I started following Marc Johnson. Absolute legend.
I skated this spot a lot myself back in the mid 90’s great time amazing to see these videos makes me remember the good old days
Coming to Toronto this summer, cant wait to check this out! Thanks for the spot guide 🙏
link up
Need the inward heel down Skydome 13 🫡
Hell yeah man! See you then 🤝🏻
“People gunna go watch the Jays lose, fun time” was too real😂😂
L9ve these skate history vids! Being from buffalo we used to always go to Toronto to skate. Remember I bet a friend he couldn't back 50 that bank to ledge and I won lmao so much steeper in person
I think there is a sequence of the josh kasper 360 flip in an old sbc
Would love to find that!
@@JustinBehan I swear I saw either the sequence or the footage back in the day. It looked like a really sketchy landing.
Hell Yeah Dude! 🤘👽👽👽
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
History, Toronto and Skating! That's a crazy ven diagram I never expected!
9:22 "This fence has been up maybe 20 years" - my old ass still thinking that means sometimes in the 90s... but nope shows clip from 2003 lol
Haha yeah time is so weird like that 😂
Great job on this vid guys, 👏 thanks for shining a light on some canadien spots and the history behind them 🎉
Such a great series! You guys are walking Skatelopedia's. So many clips I haven't seen since the early days of youtube, and a lot of clips I don't ever remember seeing. Can I request a spot for a future video????

The PATH :)
It will be done! Haha thank you man! 🙏🏻
I ollied a 13 set there around 1990. I was a scrub kid in tight black no-named jeans who drove there with my buddies just to skate around the city that day. Was epic and I will never forget how insane it seemed at the time. I rolled away second try. We had a cool scene in Barrie Ontario back in the day.
That’s sick! The 13 is no joke. Even Ollie on it is insane especially back in 1990 👏🏻👏🏻 congrats on that for real that’s dope!
@@JustinBehan Thanks man. Awesome video and series.
I’m 100% sure Jeff Folgmann landed the frontside flip for his ender in TD3, but the parts not on CZcams anymore. I also remember seeing a clip of Zach Ferguson regular front bigspin in I think a King Shit Connect the Dots video.
Fuckin’ killin’ it boys. Keep up the good work! 💯
I should upload the Folgmann part.
@@wesdizz6297 yes
Incredible video
Thank you!
These are sick man , keep em coming 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
More to come!! Thank you 🙏🏻
This series is dope good work keep it up 👍🏽
Like your work Man , Peace
Thank you! 🙏🏻
The Tom Green and Jon Allie clip, kickflip front board I think from It’s Time or New Blood possibly?! 😅 That’s my favourite clip of all time. Just Tom Green being a spectator, clapping in slow mo is so memorable and iconic to me 🤣
I think you're thinking of Peter Ramondetta's back lip. I don't think Jon Allie has ever skated Toronto.
Grew up skating in Brampton and Mississauga, but living downtown Toronto now and these videos are so cool.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Omg that long board chick was gold , to a wu track too😂😂😂
SICK vid bro enjoyed it
Thank you!
Awesome videos dude!
Big love from Guelph 🙏
I bought popcorn to watch this lol. Great video Justin 🙂
That’s awesome haha thank you!
Dude this series is so fire
Thank you! 🙏🏻
seeing a Toronto skate video come up on my feed was a nice lil treat for my 1am watch
Hell yeah!
What an unexpected treat!
Every Saturday! New Classic spot video is released 🙂
Soo good love seeing them 🙏
Thank you! 🙏🏻
Skate nerd here just subbed
Thank you! Much more to come as well 🫡
Super good series keep doing it
Great editing, respect 🫡🫡
great video man. really enjoyed :)
this series is awesome🔥🔥keep up the great content 🙌
Thank you! Appreciate that 🙏🏻
Thank you for making this video.
Thank you for watching this video!
yoo the shordy on the longboard broke her collarbone, i was there, i saw it live
Preserving canada history. Should come to the Friday night before board meeting.
DAMN i barely heard of any of the 13 stair rippers omg. So many hammers
Yeah!!!! Jeff and Dallas! My homies
Both of them are legends!
Peter Ramondetta back lip for Tom Green
So glad i got to film a lipslide on skydome banks before they destroyed the spot.
man first time i really noticed the last spot was Caleb Bowman with a front lip back when the rails were still the wide guys
I miss the old rails haha
Ahhh I heard that Josh Kasper rumour too and always wondered if it was true...
It was true
dope skating!
Hell yeah! Buncha legends 💪🏻
@@JustinBehan respect from Montreal! i never skated Tdot before, looks sick!
Man said Ryan shackler moment 🤣🤣🤣
Skydome banks were so fun. Glad I got to experience a few years there before it was unskateable. I think I did front 50-50 and a really shitty front tail.
And don’t get me started on the 13… 😤
Yesss!
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Ed Templeton on the banks was an early watch and inspiration for me. Pretty sure I did some kickturns on the bank in the late 90s. Also read an article in one of the skate mags back then that was conspiriatorial about why were they built? What's inside?😂
Lmao I never actually thought about what’s inside of them 😂
Please keep making these
Like most skate spots skydome is so much bigger in person. Jeff and Tj shut this spot down.
Josh Kasper did indeed 360 flip it back in the day. There was a sequence where he caught it at the last stair. Pretty sure Phil was also the first to 50 50, front board, and lipslide it (maybe boardslide too?). Appleyard was scared to hit it back in the day and was jealous of Phil haha. Ben Paterson front blunted it too I think.
That’s wild haha thank you for the lore! Appreciate it! 🙌🏻
Switch back lip had to be the hardest trick on the rail at the end.
Takes me back... damn.
Hell yeah!
Best old spot in Toronto was the junkyard. Was by movie theater on queensway at Kipling. Sbc had it as a Canadian top 10 diy spots in a mag years back. It was the best diy we ever had in the city. Old warehouse torn down only concrete floor was left so smooth Crete. Natural pole jam in the ground. Jersey barriers. At one point had a mini ramp. Sick metal on cinder blocks grind so smooth. Then all the random grass growing made for lots of gaps. The truck loading docks were still there sick drops to do shit off. Those who skated junk yard know what I’m sayin
I remember the junkyard and always wanting to skate there but never got the chance! Loved seeing clips from there
yo. that ledge that templton skated was removed. you're standing on a similar twin ledge meters to the west that has always had grass around it. you can see the one your standing at in the background at 1min 38sec
🔥🔥🔥
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
honourable mention: colin findlater slam on skydome
Josh caspers 3 flip was filmed but I can’t find it haha. Might have been in a 411 video. But I remember seeing it
Yeah same. I remember seeing footage, and it was kind of a sketchy landing
gotta see BICKFORD on here soon
Oh it’s comin! Stay tuned!
Hell yeah
🙌🏻🙌🏻
Think Ramondetta backlipped the rail while Tom Green was watching
Jim Huckson melon grabbed the two block fountain from the top over the curb footy is on CZcams somewhere.
That’s dope!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Brandon Del B 👏🏽👏🏽
Yoooo Ethan Allen!!
👌🏽👌🏽
Yooo I used to skate with Kevin Tio back in the day.
Same! Hope he’s doing well!
SO RAD!!
Respect!!
Rogers centre out ledge has been full cab back nose blunted and sw flip bs tailed from the side you got to pop over
Bs noseblunt is crazy 😮
Kevin romar pop shuv skydome in the same vid as neen
True!! Forgot about that one shoutout to Romar
Dern Bros - toronto edition
Gotta check mel lastman/ earl haig that was legendary status
Jeff folgman lands it in the end of his part are there TD2 or TD 3 kodi bullard variel flipped the 4 block and crooked the long handicap rail Josh Casper did three flip it Phil McKnight also switch back 50 50 Chris Wardle firecracker Skydome a lot a lot a lot if I really thought about it I could go on forever I know the lot more went down I just can't think of it I know the TD guys unseen footage still after all these years
Great video do you know the guy's from the bunt there from Canada
Yup Dono and Cephas! Have skated Skate Loft and some other parks with them before! Good dudes
I can never remember names and who did what but this time I do recall some guy named Dallas sw front lip on the 13 rail.
RIP banks. Always my go-to spot off the go-train. I will NEVER call it Rogers.
Yup! Got Dallas in this video! It’ll always be Skydome to me as well lol
Like with most Canadian spots, the banks were much harder to skate than they looked in footage.
Yeah I remember skating it when I was younger and it was sooo difficult!
dallas used to lipslide this by himself whenever he was skating by it... no lies.
Lmao that’s nuts but also doesn’t surprise me haha he’s so good
Was a shot at the jays necessary lol
