    Thanks for sharing Minnie! My number one rule for myself is I will only buy items that I will use. I don't collect so I don't have duplicates in my collection esp slgs. I also research on each piece and think hard if it suits me and if I need it before purchasing. No purchase regrets so far.

    Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the amount of handbags you have? Do you get to rotate all of them frequently or are there some that don't get used as much? I know for myself, I get overwhelmed by my collection from time to time and I feel bad for certain handbags that don't get used as much as others but I can't let them go.

    Thanks you for sharing your video 👍.I’m agree with you on the rules of you have to have a full amount of money’s before you can get the handbag that you want to get. I have stayed with that rule for more than 10 years, and it worked and helped me to stay out of trouble a lot. Love your videos as always ❤️. You have a wonderful weekend Minnie.

    It’s so easy to get caught up in the allure of the buy! Especially when you have obsessed over something. I learned my lesson when I bought the vavin PM in scarlet empriente. So gorgeous I bought it without thinking. Soon after I realized I couldn’t wear it often and it was impulsive. Thanks for another great video!

  • @allisondmb97

    Great video! Definitely agree about having the funds upfront when purchasing a bag, slg, etc. I have made mistakes in the past thinking about how to “juggle” funds in order to pay for something expensive and it just never ends up working out. Plus then I’d feel bad about spending money I really didn’t have. I’ve learned that every time I impulsively buy something, it’s almost always returned. Now I’m much better at saving money and knowing what will work out for me!

I miss my Delightful MM so very much I can't stand it! I can't find exactly what I want yet which is good because I really shouldn't buy one until after my move. Great video! I love your knowledge & content in your videos, Mink. I just realized today that I wasn’t following you after all the videos of yours I’ve watched. So I rectified that and hit subscribe. Lol! I started collecting lux items last year after watching your videos to see where I should start. I have Valentino Rocstuds, Guiseppes heels. I have an Hermes black leather belt. And for handbags, I purchased a preloved LV bucket bag and Neverfull, both in monogram. I purchased my LV speedy 35 brand new. It’s in monogram, too. Not a huge fan of the Damier Ebene print, but maybe in a crossbody. I also found a gorgeous Fendi on Fashionphile! I’m currently saving up for a Chanel Boy Bag. It will be preloved. But thanks so much! Keep the great videos coming! ♥️

    Hi Minnie, Since you mentioned the Pouchette Metis again re: the recall; here’s my story. I bought the PM 3 years ago through EBay and loved that bag. When I heard about the recall & March being my birthday month, I took the bag to Louis Vuitton in Fashion Valley to see if the would give me store credit, and to my surprise, they did! I did have the previous owner’s receipt. With my credit, I too lived dangerously, lol 😆, buying the Capucine BB in Galet, gorgeous. 🥰🤗😊

    The SA at Chanel gave me the same advice! My hub bought me my first Chanel in September. I really wanted a medium classic flap but couldn’t justify the cost to my husband. I settled for a Boy WOC, which I love, but still just wanted the classic so bad. I went in again before Xmas and saw another WOC I liked and the SA told me don’t do it. She said “just keep your eye on the prize”. Turns out I got my holy grail for Xmas from my amazing hubby. Glad I took her advice!

    I generally don't buy bags that exceed a certain price point (around $2000 is the highest I will go), so I buy a lot of preloved because I only like Hermes and Chanel for the most part. Otherwise, I have made a lot of mistakes of the years, so I can judge quite well now what works for me, and I ask myself a lot whether I can actually benefit from the bag I have on my mind. the only thing I am still looking for is the perfectly sized black cross-body bag, which is quite difficult. I wish the Evelyne came in a size bigger than the very small but smaller than the small :)

    Really love this video. I think it’s so important to have some rules for yourself or it can be easy to get out of control. I agree with limiting yourself to how much you will spend on a canvas piece from LV. As much as I love LV at some point you have to be realistic of how much you are willing to spend on a bag that is not leather.

  • @jenniferblue4972
    @jenniferblue4972 Před 5 lety +2

    Great video! I too have a couple of basic rules. I know myself and i sorta steer away from colored bags. I just don’t reach for them! I also won’t spend more than more than $2000 anywhere! That limits me in some areas but that is why i love FASHIONPHILE. Sometimes tax makes me go over but that is a general rule for me. So my Chanel dreams are just unattainable right now. I found that i didn’t reach for the small vintage flap that I had so I sold it. Which is another rule, sell if I don’t use! I think the best rule for me is to enjoy my collection! I love what I have and feel so blessed to have such amazing handbags!

    • @lldunn97
      @lldunn97 Před 5 lety

      That’s was always my rule too! I just got my first in store bag, and I got the Palm Springs PM so I went over by $130. It was worth spending the extra $$$ in order to have the bag under my name in case something was to happen since it’s known for defects😂😅

    Really enjoyed this and I relate to all of your points. Especially #1, it is so important to me to never go into debt over a handbag or anything else. I love using a credit card but always pay it off in full. And I have been guilty of "doctoring" a bag up in the past to make it work for me. I try to avoid that now too. Have a great weekend! Xoxo

    I did that with my Sienna MM. I went into the store to look at the PM & it was just being sold. So I went with the MM thinking it was actually the size I wanted. Well I would load that bag up & in the morning when getting dressed, I would change bags. I took it back & exchanged it for a Montaigne BB that I had been looking at for years. (The one & only time I went over the 2k limit! But hey the Sienna gave me a good bit of credit! 🤪)

Credit card debt can be crippling and can destroy people’s future for purchasing things they need.. a home,a car, and all the future costs associated with those things. I hope younger viewers really realize the struggles they can cause themselves if they spend money on material things. Sure, treat yourself WITHIN your MEANS!! thank you for your videos

    My #1 rule is price. I just can’t justify spending more than $1500 on a bag. This is why I will only enjoy Chanel bags from a distance. I love bags but purchasing a bag for 5000 or more just isn’t in me. Also, I tend to look a pre loved. I ask can I get it cheaper and save a few bucks. Luxury on a budget 😉. Lol xxx also please slow down at the start and end, I feel like you’re an old friend chatting away but when you speed up with the sign off, it breaks the “4th wall” so to speak. I will never pay full price for a handbag that is not LV or Chanel. I usually pick 3 bags each season that I like and put them on my wish list- if I find it on sale I’ll pick one up, otherwise there will always be bags. I have my classic bags and anything new will just be extra. I’ve purchased a lot of bags where I fall “out of love” abs I’ve lost way too much money when I sold them- that’s why have this rule

  • @aanaceci
    @aanaceci Před 5 lety +5

    My rule for almost anything I buy now a days is: would I change right now into it? If I don’t want to wear it right now, I don’t get it. When I went to get my Palm Springs mini I was sooo excited to get it I took out all my things out of my current bag and started using it at the store and walked out wearing it. If I’m not that excited about my purchase, I don’t get it. It means I don’t want it bad enough.

    Hey Minky & fans! I've been a long time fan and follower and a die heart LV fan. I've been digging deep into researching the Alma BB. My biggest question, is the zipper fussy? Honesty please, I just can't do fussy. All input welcome, thanks everyone! Hugs, Minky, XO

      I have an epi BB bag it’s not fussy at all to me I often leave top unzipped and that works well for me I’m surprised how much it fits as well!

      @@nicolezackary8213 Thanks Nicole for the help! Whats really kicking off my possible want of this bag, would be for travel, so it would have to stay zipped. Sadly, my NV's don't work for a travel handbag.

    Minnie, you are making me really bad about my Montaigne GM! That was well over $2000. But then my hubby bought it for me, so it doesn’t count, right? Right?!?!

    What do you mean by store credit? Is that a promotion that happens on a certain day?

    • @cassandrapassmore8092

      Her pochette Métis was defective and because she had so many of them replaced, LV gave her a credit for current selling price to purchase a new bag

      Demelys Oramas Specifically, store credit is an intangible monetary exchange where instead of getting an actual refund, you are granted monetary credit for the exact amount of the purchase. For example, if you spent $350 on an item, but the store doesn’t allow for refunds, they would give you store credit of $350 so that you can purchase items from that store that amount to the $350. It varies from store to store though - some store credits are only percentages of the original purchase amount, some store credits expire after so much time has passed, etc. Hope this helps!

    Hi Minnie, I have a question for you or anyone who can help. I'm looking for a tote bag for the longest time. I'm afraid I have a pretty specific picture on my mind and I can't find it. Sleek minimal design with zip closure in leather that is not too soft and doesn't slouch preferably with no lining. Any ideas?
    Thanks! xx

    I too like to have the cash in hand before making a big purchase not on a credit card to have to pay interest unless quick payoff. Never buy anything white or vachetta leather and i like to always do my research to see how it wears over time. For instance I wanted the Louis Vuitton josh backpack in maccassar and over seeing them they don’t really hold up how i want them to so i passed on it.
    And I will never purchase anything online unless I’ve seen it IRL before.

    When I buy a new bag, I never wear it the first day or two. It’s almost like I am afraid to use it. I was even worse with my first couple of bags. My first luxury bag was a LV speedy that my husband surprised me with and it sat in my closet for almost a month until I started using it.

      Andrea Bleicher I’m going through the same thing with the Turenne MM that I bought. But It’s been in my closet for over 6 months! I love it but am afraid to use it. I think I should just sell it now after watching this video.

    Don’t you dare justify your Cluny BB for the haters lol that original strap was A LOT to say the least and swapping it out for a more classic option was such a great choice! Now you have a gorgeous bag that work perfectly for you! Thank you for your awesome channel and content!
