MISA (Bassist Assasin) has developed her own hybrid playing style where she seamlessly palms her pick while slapping. It’s like slight of hand magic- it’s there, it’s gone, then reappears!💪🏻🤘🏻

I know this is 5 months late, but just in case... You can really see it in action in Onset (live). It's an instrumental and the camera is on Misa's hand as she does that. Pick - Slap - Pick *without missing a note* . It's easy to miss, but sooner or later during re-watching, you're like "Wait! Did I just see what I thought I did!?"

JIMMY PAGE OF ( LED ZEPPELIN ) loves this band. He met the group back stage and asked if he could have his picture taken with the drummer( AKANE ) she thought it was a dream ( it was not ) a rock legend like that giving props to the girls, how awesome is that.
Jimmy Page( LED ZEPPELIN) just after seeing the band play in Tokyo in 2016. He complimented Akane. Akane was star struck. She later said Mr Jimmy Page-san offered her much encouragement and she promised to do her best. SHRED ON LADIES....

Misa (bass player) will use pick and finger techniques very often in the same song. She's developed a technique where she moves the pick into the joint of her index finger when she's ready to "slap". There is actually a trend in Japan right now of all female rock/metal bands. The list goes on and on and I'm sure many will list their favorites. Two of my other favorites are Lovebites and Alidious. Both of those are more in the Power/Thrash Metal vein.

I'm 71 and have listen to Rock and Roll since 1955 (Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc). These ladies are the best and most talented Rock band I've heard heard in 15 years. You have to listen to their songs several times to get everything. On this one Kanami is playing lead riffs throughout with everyone else at the top of their game. FYI, Jimmy Page likes them and compared Akene to John Bonham and insisted on a selfie with her. Check the acoustic version of Play, very different vibe.
Welcome on board and if you are brave try Karate by Babymetal. Warning it is a WTF MV.

    • @TheStefan6969

"Jimmy Page likes them and compared Akene to John Bonham and insisted on a selfie with her."
They did take a picture, but the Bonzo comparison is a myth, part of the Band Maid lore... :-)
Unless you have it in writing... I'd love to read that!
I did search for that quote, I read the translation from the article that described Akane's meeting with Page and Bonham wasn't mentioned...
Here's a translation from the article:

Here's Akane's Tweet about meeting Page:

I think the legend came from a Reddit post by some excited fan who mentioned Bonham in the title. But no one knows where he got that from...

A major difference between this and their 1st video - Thrill. Thrill was not written by BAND-MAID. Of their early work, most of their music was rejected by the label and management, and they were given songs to record. When you get to their 1st full length album - Just Bring It, that's when the majority of the songs were written by them, and it's also when the material gets really good.

You have to see the ones with the Battles, 'Take Me Higher' LIVE and 'Don't You Tell Me' LIVE. But there are virtually no bad songs in the Zepp Tokyo LIVE. It's a pro multi-cam shoot with direct from the board sound. It's no Fan-Cam thing. Also don't forget to check out their April Fools Day persona, BAND-MAIKO. Pretty much a super group made by combining the musicians from Gacharic Spin with vocalist Fuki (from Lightbringer, Fuki Commune, Unlucky Morpheus, etc.)
They're more on the pop side, and much more keyboard heavy, but the musicianship is definitely there.

One way to enjoy this band is to listen to Band-Maid's music in the order it was released. That way the steady improvement and growth of their musical efforts over time becomes apparent. You certainly can review in any order and any way you like but could you imagine if the Beatles were fairly unknown to the general population at large and you were reacting to them. Further imagine your first review was about the Beatles' Yesterday or A Day in the Life and your next review was Please, Please Me or Love Me Do. Without knowing better one might think the Beatles music was going downhill instead of the opposite. Band-Maid is hands down the best hard rock band working anywhere in the world today.

Fair review boys. The Maids are one of best female bands in the world and their live shows are the best. Kanami the lead guitarist writes the music and Miku (Po pigeon as she likes to call herself) is the lyricist and character in the band. Misa on bass is superb as is Akane on drums. Check out any live material. Onset,Domination,Freedom,Dice. List goes on. Newish song When the dragon flies is great. Super talented band that you should review more. Just a tip fellas. Be better if you didn't drink. Look hazy eyed, burbing. Doesn't add to the review. The maid concept was introduced as Miku, the rythmn guitarist, who founded the band use to work as one. It's great marketing. Just like their ever evolving music,it just adds to the distinctive difference to other bands and that's what it's all about. But it's the music and singing that counts and that is hard to surpass. Most musicians can only dream of being this good.

Hey Ann, thank you for checking in. Yes we are ok, however I have been going through a difficult break up so my mind has been a little preoccupied lately and I haven't felt the enthusiasm to go on camera.
But don't worry, we will be back very soon! Thanks for supporting us, even still 😁

Always prefer 5 women in their late 20's that can actually play instruments and perform (better than most bands around today) rather than pre pubescent young girls fronting a metal band being drooled over by men old enough to be their grandfather's ... Just saying

I think what he meant by it was. Most K-pop and J-pop is fabricated. Another words not organic or real. Put together by higher-ups like in a corporation. Which is only desire is to make money. Talent at times can become second or third of importance !
