Oh.. yea... I been eating her chicken for the last 20 years and I wanted to show you guys how she does it...
I hope you give it a try...
I have a facebook page now here is the link... / oldmancooking-14138262...
Ingredients
1 whole cutup chicken
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 1/2 cups of All purpose flour
1/4 to 1/2 cup peanut oil
Prepare as shown.. - Jak na to + styl
That's exactly how my mom fried chicken when I was growing up. She used just plain old vegetable oil with flour, salt & pepper. Nothing fancy, but it sure tasted good! I never heard my Father complain. LOL!
Like me 👍
My mom too. I like it better than the kind with the inch thick crunchy crust.
Of course Dad didn't complain. Ma was holding the frying pan! I'll bet she could hit a home run out of the park with that thing.
Thank you so much! This is how my elder aunts and grandma cooked fried chicken! PAN FRIED! None of this 8 ingredient complicated deep fried b.s. ! I sat thru 10 videos before I found this! Thanks! Why are all the old simple ways disapearing? They always cut up their own chickens too!
That color, it's like fried gold!
i haven't made pan fried chicken in years. you just motivated me
Awesome Lyle! :)
For real lol
My granny pan fried chicken most every sunday after church. She didn't use as much oil though. She kept a paper towel nearby to blot the blood off. I'd look forward to a chicken liver video with gravy, she did those often too. With pone biscuits of course! 😄
Tony Harrell That's a wonderful tip...using paper towel to blot the blood. Thank you!
Overjoyed seeing you again, Tom. Please stay very well and keep on cooking and sharing your cokking gems. Aloha!
made this and it was absolutely delicious, ill make this every week from now on and eat it for lunch at work, cheap, hearty and delicious, every one at work loves it!
TOM that is the best fantastic chicken I've seen in a while and I'm so glad to see that you're feeling much better and look forward to more videos of yours.
Thanks for the reminder about keeping cooking simple, yet tasteful. I used to shake my chicken in the old paper grocery bags with my seasoned flour, then fry in thin layer of peanut oil.
Now I like frying in coconut oil, more stable at heat and does not soak into the food as much, none of the coconut smells either. It is a MCT type oil (medium chain triglycerides).
Have a great New Year sir and audience!
I love the narration! Makes me smile! I'm going to make this tonight!
I loved the commentary. Love your southern accent, too. You are awesome!
So glad to see that you're back! :') hope you have a happy and healthy new year!!
Great to see you and I'm definitely going to make this!
Glad you're feeling better. May have to try this for my mom, she absolutely loves fried chicken!
I could smell this through the screen!
Good to have you back Tom! And, you did a recipe of one of my favorite things on earth! Fried Chicken! That was great. It made me think of my grandma's fried chicken from about 50 years ago. It was the best. Not breaded but filled with flavor. Thanks for a great video and I am so glad you are back with us!
Thank you Terry !! This video was uploaded a long time ago... Just happened to have a few already ready.. I will do new ones when I can get rid of this oxygen.. Thank you for your support... :)
Thank you Lord for catching him in time, for help with his heart! Good to see you back OldManCooking!Love peanut oil for cooking. Can take the heat and is pretty neutral flavored. You do your chicken just like I do mine in method. I mix flour and potato starch, and fry a second time for extra crispy. I often add sage, onion, and garlic powder to either the chicken itself, or to the flour mix. And you are right. Turning often is the key, to just the right color. Also helps chick to cook evenly.May God Bless your health, for many years.
Thank you very much! :)
I am so happy you are back and Pray you are doing much better and great recipe thank you so much for the video

yaaayyyyy glad to see you welcome back hope your feeling better and ready for an awesome 2017 best wishes from North Carolina 💙
I have never felt that I could fry chicken. It just never turns out anything like yours or what I want it to be. I am a failure with fried chicken. But you make me want to try again because yours looks BEAUTIFUL. Very nice!
Keep trying, Michael! Practice makes perfect. A tip: Make sure the oil is nice n hot before you put the chicken in. You can test it by dropping in a small piece of bread to see if it sizzles.
Thank you my friend! :)
It's so good to hear your voice again. HOPE YOU'RE FEELING BETTER AND MAY YOU GAIN HEALTH AND WEALTH IN THE COMING YEAR!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM DALE AND KIM

Just a vid ... I had already uploaded... but feeling alot better... :)
That is some fine looking chicken tom hope you're feeling better!!
My father had a chicken dinner restaurant during the depression and was offered the job of "fried chicken chef" at the Coconut Grove (which he turned down). He fried his chicken in chicken fat and had a few more "rules" than this video, but it was essentially the same, and was the best fried chicken I have ever had. He actually killed and plucked the chickens right before frying them and his "The Red Lantern" Chicken Dinner Tavern in Salem Oregon had a chicken coop out back. He shook the pieces in a paper bag with the flour in it (yes, with the salt and pepper mixed in). He was very insistent that the pieces be packed closely in the pan, and I believe he always started bone side down (or maybe bone side up! -- I wish he was here now to ask but he would be 114 years old!) Anyway, I know it was important. He put the lid on, and when it was crispy and brown, turned it over and finished with the lid off. It took about 45 minutes, I remember. It all had a perfect crispy but thin skin and was very tender and tasty. I can't stand that extra thick stuff on the Colonel's chicken!
I’m 28 , grew up in North Carolina and my great grandmother made some goood fried chicken legs in a cast iron pan . Man best chicken even .
I love the smell of chicken frying. It's almost as good smelling as bacon frying, not quite, but almost, :)
Yummy goodness!
i know this chicken, good stuff!
Welcome back. Hope you are feeling better.
Thank You!! YOU ~ ROCK ! !
I've been skipping through videos for this recipe and when I heard that southern heeey everybody! I was like this going to be the one I fo with 😂
Great looking fried chicken, Tom! I'm glad to see you back.

Great Cook Tom, Grandma Huffine's knew how to do it. I like the Wings in this, not many Video's add them.
Thank you very much LumpyQ..! :)
You went for a wing first...I always do too. Looks great. Thanks for sharing.
thank you for watching! :)
Hi, Tom. That fried chicken looks simply delish. What do you love about New Years? Have a good day, Tom. By the way, I love hearing Einie Kleine Nachtmusik by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Looks delicious pops. Have to tell you a quick short story. Roughly 20 years ago I worked at kentucky fried chicken as a young lad. So we had an extremely rude, belligerent customer in drive thru cussing at everyone. So I bounced a chicken gizzard off of his forehead. Worked like a charm never saw that mean cuss again.
Great looking friend chicken Tom. Joe's mom does it like that, and EVERYONE loves it :-)
Thank you Siri.. ! I appreciate you watching! :)
This chicken looks so good!
Thank you Nichole! :)
Tom WHOOPIE ...HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEARS to you and your family ..may you cook and video to your "HEARTS" content!!!!!
Thank you very much! :)
That is a whole plate of goodness!
Thanks Kendall... :)
Thank you just like my mom 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Thanks so much!
You are Welcome! :)
Old man cooks his chicken three different ways; one without any buttermilk, and one using buttermilk, and one using regular whole milk with Greek yogurt.
I’ll have to decide which method to use .
I don’t have a wok; I have a ninja foodie; and I have a cast iron pan.
I live in Ft. Worth also!
Hey Welcome back 😇
My new receipe
Happy new year

Man when fried chicken was made when I was a kid it was just like this and so delish! hope you are feeling better mon ami
Thanks Booger... I can answer my friends so far.. but getting better... :)
Is there an approximate time to flip over the chicken? Or just play it by ear?
Thanks for sharing.
Excellent! That's the fried chicken I grew up on and cook myself. Sometimes I butterfly a too thick breast portion. This stuff is good hot or cold! Thanks, OMC...you could definitely give KFC a serious run for the money! Happy New Year! (:
Thanks LC! :)
I call you "The Fry Master"! ... (:
Same as my grandma's chicken
👍
If you please, what temperature in degrees is Medium High?
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm♥️
Tom wheres the chicken ??? Im hungryyy 😁😁😁😁
I love your voice and the music! But I had a problem with seasoning. I dredged it but as soon as I put in the oil a lot of flour fell off. How much should I dredge them? how do I get the flour to stay?
If there is too much flour on your chicken the flour will fall off. Knock off the excess flour before putting it in the grease. If your oil is too hot the flour will fall off.
