  • How cool is it that this lightweight cruiser Motorcycle has this shifter? I do a step-by-step How-to change out the foot pegs to motorbike foot rests. Is it an upgrade?
    I love this ‪@royalenfield‬ / @Royal Enfield North America Meteor 350 motorbike!
    Thanks ‪@Baxtercycle‬ ‪@baxtercycle7981‬ for the awesome Meteor RE!

    Heel-toe shifters are very popular in Royal Enfield's native India. Many Indians wear sandals or flip-flops, exposing the tops of their feet. This shifter protects them.👌🏽

      I like them!!! It makes it so you can shift in flip flops!!! I never thought about that.

    After enjoying and being so impressed with my Himalayan, I decided to purchase an additional RE, namely the Meteor 350. First 20 miles the toe heel shifter seemed odd, 50 miles later it's second nature. These bikes all have SOUL in their DNA.

    Pardon my story, but it relates... I took my test ride on the Meteor with slip-on shoes. I didn't notice and the dealer didn't tell me about the heel/toe. Was able to shift old school during the test. Imagine my surprise when I came to take the bike home in my regular gear and couldn't get my boot under the shifter. A quick glance down and all was made clear...LOL. The Meteor is really the only bike I've had in 50 years of riding with this shifter. But it only took about 4 miles to get on board. The upgrade looks good.

      @MCCJustMotos  Před rokem +1

      Haha that is a humorous but great story! Glad to hear that is was easy to get on-board! The wide peg makes a nice upgrade!

      @@MCCJustMotosJust an update. I put the wider pegs on my Meteor (front and back)but didn't have to drill out the holes. However, the stock rear pegs have a spring and ball bearing that the wider pegs aren't modified for. Not a real issue. Still fit just don't stay folded.

  • @Wojtekpl2
    @Wojtekpl2 Před rokem +2

    Yup, yup, yup. Natural motion for the foot is to push down or step on it! So, it's much more natural to push down to change the gear either with your toes or heel. IMO much better than trying to wiggle your foot under the lever then pull up. You don't really have muscles that are made for that stunt. ;)

    I have a fused left ankle I would be interested if anyone has a Meteor and has the same disability. Until recently I had a Triumph Speedmaster fitted with their heel toe shifter and used it by shifting down with my heel and up with my toe would appreciate any feedback .

    • @MCCJustMotos
      @MCCJustMotos  Před 9 měsíci

      I can’t answer, but it is a bit tight to get your toe under the toe part of the shifter.

  • @FairladyS130
    @FairladyS130 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Looking at the video you were still rolling your foot to shift so for me it would look like the original pegs would be best.

    • @MCCJustMotos
      @MCCJustMotos  Před 3 měsíci

      I def like the wide pegs, it may not change how you shift, but it’s more comfy when riding, plus you can position your foot around in way more than stock.

  • @johnludmon7419
    @johnludmon7419 Před rokem +1

    I own a meteor, the only complaint I have with the heal toe shifter is the slop at the pivot bolt. If you can get someone to turn a bolt up with less clearance, it makes the shift a lot more positive.

    • @MCCJustMotos
      @MCCJustMotos  Před rokem

      Huh, I can see that point. Mine doesn’t feel like it has a lot of slop, but I can’t imagine intolerances are much different.

    • @corradospagnuolo614
      @corradospagnuolo614 Před rokem +1

      Hi, if you are alluding to the axial play of the heel-toe lever, which is actually excessive, I can suggest that you first disassemble the lever with a 17 and a 15 mm spanner. Once the 10 mm bolt has been removed, you will notice that there is a bushing inside the lever. You have to lower this bush, by hand or by machine, until there is a gap of maximum two tenths of a millimeter between the lever and its support. You will see that the lever will "wobble" much less. I hope I was clear. Cheers!

    Good video. As a matter of personal preference though I just don’t like the heal/toe on my meteor. If there are others out there like me, simply pull the shifter off of the spline shaft and rotate it clockwise by just one spline tooth and you’ve got a standard toe only shifter again.
