Jim Croce was an influential American singer-songwriter whose musical career soared in the early 1970s.Born in 1943, Croce's journey to success began in Philadelphia, where he honed his musical skills and met his future wife, Ingrid Jacobson. Signing with ABC Records, Croce gained widespread recognition with hits like "You Don't Mess Around with Jim" and "Time in a Bottle." Tragically, at the peak of his fame, Croce's life was cut short in a fatal plane crash in 1973, leaving behind a rich legacy of heartfelt storytelling and folk-rock melodies. His timeless songs, such as "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" and "Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)," continue to resonate with audiences, cementing his place as an enduring and
beloved figure in the music industry.

Good music 🎶🎶🎉🎉💕💤
I know where the carwash Jim worked at, the building is still there and the Overhead door is now a concrete brick wall, it's part of Capital Cleaners in Niagara Falls NY, you would drive in off of Main Street and pull out onto Portage Road . I was a young boy and I road my red stingray bicycle from the old shit factory into the Niagara Gorge along the trails I'm scared to walk these days to Devil's Hole State Park and carried my bike up the stairs then road down Lewiston Road to Main Street to Portage Road and saw him sitting on a chair playing his acustic guitar 🎸 and singing and I hit my brakes and spun my rear tire around to listen as a big gold Caddy started to drive out and Jim placed his guitar 🎸 on his chair 💺 and asked me to keep an eye on it, when he was done wiping the water off that Caddy he rang the water off the towel and hung it on its bar, sat down and started playing his guitar 🎸 and singing and I asked are you famous. He replied I wish. I replied you will be soon your real good.
Few years later I went home from high school for lunch and im watching the 12 noon news and they announced Jim Croce died in a plane crash and showed his picture 🖼️ and I said to myself that's that guy from the carwash. OMG , RIP Jim I said to myself. And in that song he mentioned Niagara Falls was the Worse time in his life, something like that. It was around 1964 I believe when I had a privet concert by Jim Croce
When I gave birth to my first child, Jim Croce was playing in the delivery room, a month later he died. When I hear his songs it is a mix of joy & sadness.
we need another JimCroce
1973. So sad. But still listening
Hey... that's cool. I could write something flowery, but that's not Croce. Thanks for sharing. I just left the Dr......blah. not terrible news... just bullshit and stress and for some reason..... I'm playing...ya don't f around with Jim
. Ha. Have a blessed one whoeva you are!
Take care, person who just left a Dr's app.

What a awesome musician jim was
GONE TO SOON
Driving to college class when radio announced his passing from plane crash. Cried, so sad that talented soul had been taken so soon.
Thank goodness for the technology that allows humanity to share this beautiful music so many years after the tragic loss of this wonderful human being.
I was born in the early 70s, music like this is all I listened to. Those were the days, such love and peace.
Grew up on his music, being a 70s child. Forever love his music.
My dear mother loved this man. I learned his songs word for word when I was 10 years old from a couple of 8 track tapes
Wherever I hear his songs, I think of her.
I played his music while she lay in hospice.
Love and miss you momma.
Love his music. So peaceful. Gone too soon. RIP 💔
Me too, she wore that cassette tape our and cried when he died. We played a couple of his songs at her funeral.
I played him too as she lay in her hospice bed.
So sorry for your loss. 🙏❤
if only we had more musicians like him these days!!
Imagine even more, if we had politicians like him in the world
We do. We actually have tons of superbly talented singer/songwriters putting out great folk music. Sadly, this is not what sells in today's world.
We would need more than just an excellent songwriter, we would also need an excellent singer like Jim, a singer that enunciated each word so that his audience could hear and know each word so that the message of the song would be received.
Most kids today wouldn't listen to it...sad
This is music! RIP JIM...taken before your time! I'm actually listening to his music as i write ths. I'm 70 years young and still listening in 2023! ❤❤
Well you've got me by 5 years but I too am listening to this at this very moment.
I love these songs. Always in my heart. Born in 65.❤
The problem i😢😢 they don't let yourest inpeace
I'm 69 still loving it 😊
This guy is like a king music
A kind soul who died way to soon.

@@tommydeamon7657fr man, he could've made more beautiful songs

Never too soon know Bible something here no soapbox make your own mind and I will do that myself as well that's good 👍🤠🏁 anyway man! kind?
It is not dead, as long as we listen....
His wife waited for him for years and died on his way to his last gig
I am very happy that I heard the wonderful music of Mr. Jim Croce in my lifetime
Im only 58, but his music is timeless.
One of the best singer/songwriters of all time! He deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. We support your efforts AJ! Your dad is still much loved. ❤️
you mean he ISN'T in the Hall of Fame? UNBELIEVABLE!!
Este é um ASTRO musical o som des ASTRO é o maximo
Some of the easiest listening music I've ever heard and everybody just loved it. He could just write one hit song after another.
I remember my dad singing all these songs when I was growing up jamming on the guitar i watched with great delight. I learned to play with him singing at 5 . Thanks Dad ❤
#6 was out favorite
Thanks Dad. Your love lives on. ❤️
You know my brother he learned on his own not with my dad or anything it was an older neighbor kid and to this day when he comes on holidays we all ask him to play and now my son plays too...
@@OnoUdnt8 14 is tops. Roller Derby Queen... Back in the 70's my scrawny sister did roller derby and she did fairly well only because she was really good and fast at sneaking under them appliances on wheels on the tracks... She even won a free car in Calif summer 1976 she made some cash too. Then she went back to college and became boring again
Music is the universal way our souls are connected . In this troubled times we should listen sing and dance in heartfully peace to heal our selves and the world.
Jim was and is still one of my favorite solo artists of all time ! Rest In Peace 🙏🏻
I was 12 when he died. The 1st time I really cried. He died but this music and lyrics are eternal.
I was 10 and still listening
I'm 64yrs old and I'm listening to him he one of my fav.
meeee 2
Passed away way to soon but he left us with some beautiful timeless music.✌️
True that! ✌️
"Time In A Bottle" is the perfect song for wintertime. Watching the snow fall on a cold winter night as the wind picks up, swirling the snowflakes in a beautiful mystical dance.....such are the memories of growing up in the country back in the Seventies.
Time in a Bottle was my wedding song in 1976!! I couldn't agree with you more! He's so missed..
I always think of bare trees(not the album). Just the visual.

OMG I remember this. I'm 66I remember this when I was way Younger still enjoy the music thanks
Jim Croce's music will live forever!
So prolific and underrated. A true poet and musical genius. I wish men would write songs like these in our times. I grew up listening to my parent’s music. Dad was not a fan of Jim so much …liked his soul stuff haha
but all women were. My mom and aunts and Grammy . Jim Croce was a crooner. Can’t deny it. Also his immense talent. Hello universe ???
Bring back romance and real feelings in music. My generation is starved. Come on guys 👍👏😆🙏
His songs never die
O M G! You hit it on the head! What is missing real romance. Feelings of love. Also a bit of true comedy. Story telling.

Hi Marty I really liked your comment about his music and childhood. It's good to be able those precious memories.
Jim got me through the Persian Gulf. Learned all his songs, still brings back all those memories. Greatest artist of all time
Jim & Buddy Holly. 2 fabulous artists both cut off at the height of their careers. Just imagine if they'd lived how much wonderful music they would have created.
@@RobertKrus Jim Croce's guitarist, Maurice T. Muehleisen, needs to be acknowledged as well. Great melodies from this duo

A little before my time, as much is for many. I've found that's the best way to find music that touches my heart in a way that leaves me feeling as if the music was made specifically for me! Had no idea all this amazing music was made by Jim Croce! I only wish that he was around longer & able to create more. 💗
THIS. IS. MUSIC!
I was a young boy. And didnt have any opportunity to purchase his albums but still loved his music so one day while alone in our old farmhouse i was always prepared with my realistic cassette tape recorder to record my favorite songs. So i heard operater start so i hurriedly started my recorder and went downstairs to tend a barking dog. Later i listened to the recording and found in one spot the volume level dropped and i heard a happy laugh for a few seconds. Never figured out what happened. But it did remind me of Jim. I have heard him laugh before.
thank you...lovely
When in San Diego. CALIFORNIA. Check out his wifes Restaurant. Name after him. All his memorable there. His son sings like him. And looks like Jim

RIP James. One Of My First Albums when I moved out of my parents home at 17.
Pretty much the same. My first album bought when I moved out to live alone at 21.
A man who lived what he wrote,a soul made of gold, I'll always turned to his music for comfort
. May God bless him and his family ❤❤😂
Sounds like Jim lived life from the hard times to the good ones. He will live through his songs and memory. RIP brother 👍😎❤️🙏💯
Memories...❤❤❤❤..
I recently read an article that his son is playing his music at appearances..
Did that article happen to say anything about the restaurant still being around?
Yes, it's "Croce Plays Croce"--saw him live a few months ago and it was really cool. Story telling about his dad in between songs, about how he got his start and recorded so much music in such a short period of time. A good mix of Jim Croce's songs, his son's original music, and also some music that originally inspired Jim.
I went to a concert down near Detroit Michigan with a j Croce singing Andy sounds identical to his father I was very happy to see him
You don't really hear much of Jim's tunes these days, so I am glad Lonetoon put this out. Jim was such an excellent song writer who deserves to be heard today.
❤ So Beautiful! ❤

@@kath3611yes it is.
Born in '64, I was about 8 when I was first exposed to Jim Croce via my parents being a member of the CBS Record Club. For a penny that you taped to a postcard, and your 6 'album stamps', you could get those 6 albums for penny - you just had to buy one album at regular price. This was an amazing way to grow up in the 70's - because I collected a lot of music and would always fall back on this album and cry growing up - and some of Jim's song's still make me cry. Legendary to me. Thanks Jim.
I did the same @ kansasisaband...wasn't that amazing?❤❤
One of our greatest!!
One of the greatest contributors to American pop music.legend😅

My sister LeeAnn wanted Time in a Bottle to be played at her funeral. All us sisters loved ❤JC. It didn’t exactly go down like that. We cremated her shell & let her join the beauty & majesty of the Grand Canyon. Well you can guess what happened. Yeah, a Big Lebowski right in my face. We laughed & laughed. Whoever says personality don’t pass over the veil, is full of bullshit! Love to all you JC fans…both of ‘em, Croce & Christ, & love especially to my seesters!
Clearly they have never met anyone from my family ,that has passed over and thru the veil......oh the songs and stories they will tell
This is my favorite folk songs when i was young.
Old and Unforgettable memories.

such a tragic tale his life was cut so short and right at the pinnacle of his career. He lives on through his music, in my heart, (and piano) and in many others.
Done right! The beginning everyone messes up because it's a pause but with a floating note, and you nailed it!!!!❤
