      I don't think it matters. Enough people will buy the first release because of FOMO to make it worth it, then they can make even more through not just those that waited on the update release 4 years later, but also all the people that did buy the original that rebuy the updated version. It has clearly been working for them well for over a decade now.

      Bruh, The Answer is not even that good to begin with, let alone worth its asking price for what it did back then and will probably be the EXACT same when it comes out later this year: complete character assassination
      They LITERALLY destroyed ALL character development from the base game for some goddamn reason for this ''epilogue'' to even exist in the first place
      Why are people getting suckered into buying this crappy episode for P3 Reload is something only the Gaming Gods will ever figure out
      The Answer to this is quite simple: DO NOT BUY THAT CRAPPY EXPANSION ONCE IT COMES OUT
      We need to let ATLUS, or more accurately SEGA, know they need to stop with this post-launch bullshit and just give us FULL GAMES at launch like everyone else SHOULD do to begin with
      Also, they REALLY need to stop lying to us about the ''new content for our game is just too much to add as an upgrade pack for the vanilla version'' bullshit they've started practicing since P4 Royal
      When P4 Royal first came out on PS4, they LITERALLY said the new additions won't be ''compatible'' with the vanilla version of P4... on a CONSOLE that can not only play both versions, but can UPGRADE the vanilla version via, what's it called again?, oh yes: THE OCCASIONAL GAME PATCHES that fixes most performance issues and EVEN retool games to make post-launch content COMPATIBLE AF
      Pretty sure this scummy practice will also be used for Metaphor AND SMT 5 Vengeance, especially the latter when they'll force us early SMT 5 adopters to buy the game again on Switch because of the exact same bullshit reason I just listed above

As for “SMT V: Vengeance”, all I heard pretty much every reviewer say & many people on the message boards is that they liked the game, but wish it was on more powerful hardware. Now, Atlus definitely had some kind of exclusivity deal with Nintendo. Now they are finally giving us what we asked for, plus some improvements it seems. The only thing I disagree with is that owners of the vanilla version on Switch should be able to get “Vengeance” as DLC or something. Or pay a smaller amount to upgrade. I’m not always happy with Atlus’ DLC practices, but I really like the company and realize that they’re not that big. Where were people when they were pushing people to buy SMTV, claiming it's a better option than BDSP? Everyone seemed to completely gloss over the Day 1 DLC SMTV got. The DLC habits of Atlus only became an issue when Soul Hackers 2 got DLC.

      SMTV was more fun to play and was a fresh game as opposed to the lazy "remake" that was BDSP. There's no winning in that even if you take into account the stupid Day One DLC and the game's story being pretty bare bones (Pokemon's story is already barebones so that's already a moot point.

    • @NuiYabuko
      @NuiYabuko Před měsícem +3

      @@phillemon7664 Oh, f*** off with the lazy argument.
      You're also arguing a point I didn't even make. My comment wasn't about the base games, but about DLC habits. GF got all sorts of accusations when they announced DLC for SwSh after the game's release, but Atlus could release Day 1 DLC for SMTV without so much as a peep.

    • @leixalkvinay2729
      @leixalkvinay2729 Před měsícem

      @@NuiYabukoIt's fairly easy to tell why, for starters BDSP hace sold just by themselves more than the whole Megami Tensei Franchise and Persona, individually.
      That by itsef makes the argument fell apart, since the resources and scope of both games was bastly different, being BDSP little more than a small Game budget wise, while SMT V was a massive proyect from Atlus.
      On the other hand, since the DLC where just 3 individual demons, and one Super Boss, instead of a story like the one from SH2, not much people felt it as something important (it is a bad practice, but barely important content wise, less than 1% of the demon pool).

    • @NuiYabuko
      @NuiYabuko Před měsícem +1

      @@leixalkvinay2729 Why are you all focusing on BDSP? All the talk happened before both games even released. My comment is not about the subjective quality of both games. And again, GF was criticised for announcing SwSh DLC AFTER the game released, but there were crickets in SMTV's case. Its DLC is also essentially pay-to-win, since some of the best demons are hidden behind that content, not to mention Mitama, I think.
      You also don't know the budgets of either game, because we're not privy to that information.

    • @leixalkvinay2729
      @leixalkvinay2729 Před měsícem

      @@NuiYabuko Why? You we're the one who mentioned BDSP in your comment.
      No one besides you said it.
      And my point is that Game Freak literally has the biggest franchise in the world, almost any game since the 90's has sold the same as the whole MegamiTensei Series in over 30 years.
      Meanning that the amount of resources are bastly different betwen both franchises, and GF barely makes good use of them, unlike Atlus, since even if SMT V is getting an enhaced re-realese, the base same is still a great monster collector, fun to play and puts to shame any switch Pokemon game graphically speaking, and unlike some new Pokémon games, SMT V never crashed, had a more stable performance, and didn't had an erasing progress glitch.
      Vengeance has gotten a whole new router with it's own endings, and the dlc are just two demons, and I bet they would be good, but nothing game breaking, since they have a phisical skills and a healing one.
      The DLC of SMT V is unnecesary, but in any way is pay to win, since the only relevant demon is Cleopatra to put -2 defense and that's it, Mephisto only has a cool unique skill, and Artemisa only has a random multi hit, a skill that gets outclased by severe phisical skills or Hasou Tobi, a Unique skill of the base game. The only op skills are the ones You get from Demi Fiend, but if you have beaten DF then it doesn't matter since you have already done the hardest Boss in the game and anything else will be easy.
      The DLC demons aren't like exclusive version legendaries, they aren't game breaking in any way.
      The Mitamas aren't pay to win either, rather pay to not play, since you can broke the progression since the first area by overleveling and destroy any interesting challenge.
      Let's not forget that Mitamas already exist in the base game, and also statues that level up all your demons.
      SMT V is a flawed game, but it still is a solid and fun monster collector, whose DLC practices, in realtion to other Atlus IPs was barely relevant, unlike the DLC personas in P5R that could literally trivialice any challenge in the game.
      And had a súper hard boss fight, something only hardcore players are interested in, unlike story DLC like Soul Hackers.
      That being said, if Megaten had the same relevance as Pokemon or even Persona, more people would be upset, but since it is a niche franchise more people are fine by letting some mistakes go by, but when SMT gets more popular, more people would find the predatory practices of Atlus problematic, since it shouldn't have economic problems, similar to what happened with P3R and it's 35 season pass.

    That's one hella big "Nope" for me. $70 USD for base game before DLCs and it's not even truly definitive experience of what the Persona 3 games were back in the day. I still have not bought P3 Reload. DLC pricing is pretty funny looking at it as a non-buyer, especially those guys that purchased the more expensive versions of the BASE GAME.
    I can wait or not bother at all. I didn't even get Persona 5 until very recently. I play on PC and was irked Atlus made P5 for consoles only back in 2016/2017. I sure as hell wasn't going to buy a console for the sake of a game. So I waited until P5 Royal hit on PC (2022) to finally get it, and did so on the cheap.
    If Atlus ever makes a *truly definitive* and modern Persona 3 release, I'll be interested. Until then, I can wait like I did for P5 or not bother if Atlus never budges. If they never do, then "oh well." I still have fond memories of what Persona 3 thru P3P did for me many years ago.

    I honestly don’t see the issue here that fans have to call Atlus out specifically over it. Including season pass dlc in collectors editions is not at all a common practice in the industry, in fact it very rarely happens. This game was marketed as being a faithful remake of Persona 3, not FES, not Portable. The fact that we are getting The Answer at all is something I’m grateful for as it was confirmed this was scrapped early on in development. If this was just an Atlus thing I could see the issue, but I’ve purchased my fair share of collectors editions and, while I’m aware there are some that have included a season pass, none of the ones I bought have. I’m just glad this is being released as dlc and not another having to buy the entire game over again scenario. I’m honestly more upset over SMT V then this, especially when i can’t find any details to confirm if the original game’s path has any meaningful changes or if the new content is exclusively in the new path

    One counterpoint to this discourse, persona 3 FES released with the answer yes, however people forget FES is a rerelease and not the first release, granted basically nobody has played base Persona 3 PS2. However for somebody who would have played base Persona 3 at $50 would have in the west then had to buy FES for an additional $50. The answer is not a part of Persona 3 as anything BUT an add on. You would have payed an equivalent in yen to $50 and $30 for the game and the answer disc in Japan as well, and that is still more money adjusted for inflation. Granted it not being in the Digital Deluxe is annoying, but it wasn’t advertised or announced then.
    Also Atlus does kinda make it clear when a game is or isn’t being rereleased. For starters the current leaks for Persona 6 seem to influence it not getting an enhanced version as it is seemingly in line with Sega’s new approach to content with having a full game at release then multiple expansions after the fact.

People are claiming that Atlus always had this dlc completed but that makes no sense, if they truly had it finished why would they be waiting until September to release it. Game Development ain't easy and no one should be accusing them of lying when whiny youtubers can't back that up. I'm not saying a company is incapable of being scummy however it seems to me as a newcomer to all this people tend to overreact to any bit of DLC Atlus does. Frankly it's just coming across to me like people are upset stuff isn't free. If people manage their money wisely by the time September comes 35 dollars is not a big deal.
    I will give people that the 70 dollar price tag is bullcrap and it needs to stop but Atlus is not the only one doing it right now. It's a more industry wide problem so screaming and yelling at Atlus alone isn't going to change anything. If you have time to whine you have time to spend your energy toward getting that 70 dollar price tag addressed. It sucks but going on a tirade and acting like two year olds won't solve it. Atlus can stand to change how they do dlc but from what I've seen people can also stand to not blow up so much they look like lunatics.

I know Ive been guilty of goving in to their hype on too many occasions.That is why the money they make now is astronomical compared to the 80s and 90s. And they will keep reaching and exploiting as long as we continue to put our money into it.
    For me, I am deciding to become a patient gamer and just wait it out instead of pre-ordering and buying early. Try it, you'll be much happier. I'll be trying it too if they ever make me unhappy.
    Atlus landed themselves in this situation of a nonstop flak cycle even if it's disturbed by them having dark occult endings in their games without offsetting them with pure practices in the real world. A little fun fact: when Atlus was developing SMTI and II they would bring in a priest and would have the priest bless their studio because they felt there was a subtle negative energy to what they were doing. This isn't me saying this, this was Larrue I believe that reported on this little fact. I feel like they've stopped doing this practice around the SMT III vanilla pre-Nocturne Maniax days when they got a lot of silly flak for them putting out a "bare bones" game (doesn't that sound familiar), that then inspired them to "redo" SMTIII and that's when Nocturne was born and fans ended up loving it. The urge to rerelease everything came after with Persona 3.
    Personally Megami Tensei is my favorite video game franchise of all time but subconsciously people gravitate negatively to it more than other games and companies that use the same if not worse business practices (LAD: IW's practices were abysmal but the negative outcry was overshadowed by the Atlus fan reaction to the abysmal Answer "Season Pass" practices). They have unfortunately done this to themselves and not in the way that many people might think. Maybe they'll learn to dial it down and offset their actions with keeping SEGA in check and maybe even do some superficial good work like setting up charities.
    Hell, even Atlus got way more flak for not hiring Vic Mignogna for P3RE's cast even though plenty of other companies have already done that exact same move in far more discriminatory ways. It gets even worse when you realize people keep bringing up miniscule plot details of Persona 4 as if they're crimes against humanity for no reason just because of the sake of negativity. Talk about a fandom that doesn't understand the games they play. A whole lot of Mitsuos, Kamoshidas and Adachis that are attracted to these games as well yet they don't realize they are being condemned. Hopefully people realize some day soon that they could just NOT BUY THE GAMES AND DLCs and live their lives if these games just make them so unhappy. Try it, you'll be much happier. I'll be trying it too if they ever make me unhappy.

    I think the main issue with Episode Aigis was there original intention of adamantly NOT including Episode Aigis to Persona 3 Reload. Then, Persona 3 Reload released being profitable and successful WAY more than Sega, Atlas, or the team working on the project thought. In other words, they did not intend to work on. However, then, why not do the Sonic Frontiers route and make it a free update?
    Also, why are they adamant not to have the FeMC in Persona 3 Reload officially? They would need to do the following:
    1) Hire a voice actress for each language that Persona 3 Reload releaded in and redo ALL of the male ones with female ones and change them on context as well.
    2) Bring ALL other voice actors that interact with the main character even once throughout the entire game in order to avoid very weird moments while playing.
    3) Create romance options only accessible to the female main character.
    4) Create and obtain new animations specific for the female one.
    5) Create alternate anime cutscenes replacing the male protagonist with the female one.
    6) Make sure that female character cannot equip armor and cosmetics restricted to male party members.
    7) Rework moments of the game that would not make sense with the female main character now present (e.g., Junpei assuming that the player and Yukari were potentially doing something NSFW by saying "Don't say anything about last night." and the hot sprimg scene (Well, they could just retrospectively cut that to make things easier and make an excuse why the player was not present).
    8) Change all UI menus with the female instead the male one.
    In other words, a nightmare. This is not even mentioning the coding and scripting needing to be altered

    Look I only broke my rule of waiting cause I genuinely love p3 and wanted to play asap the expansion pass crap honestly im not really surprised companies make all kinds bs just get some extra cash so imma just do what I usually do wait and get a good deal I did that with p5 and ill will do that with lots of games p3 reload was just one of those exceptions

    The main thing that bothers me about the P3R DLC is I just don't care about BGMs and outfits. I'll just buy "The Answer" when it is released because the first two waves are meaningless to me. I don't mind paying full price for Vengeance because it basically adds an entirely new game, plus it's not like you are just playing the original all over again, as that will also have all of the QOL improvements which kind of makes it worth playing again in my eyes. Just like I enjoyed the replaying the 3DS versions of Devil Survivor, and I enjoyed the 3DS remake of Strange Journey. And I'm enjoying P3R as basically a new game (with an old story). I've been taking my time and have put 90 hours into it and I'm not done yet. That time is worth the 70 bucks I spent.

    I got 135 hours out of p3r so its fine as is for me at least. Sega owned by a literal gambling company. It can be so much worse. I'm actually glad atlus has mostly stuck with grind help and skin/music packs to try to get more money. No problem with the dlc but I can see how the pricing might be an issue for some. My actual problem with the game is that its actually kind of too easy which compounds on top of Tartarus just being a slog with only the occasional miniboss to break the tedium.

    It’s a bit like the Baldur’s Gate declaration Larian made. They sell complete games with no paid DLC.
    Many fans aren’t happy with the DLC model yet many companies do this. Atlus is especially guilty of the day one DLC model since Persona 5 and even before that probably. We just expect this from Atlus at this point.

    I don't know how people didn't expect this when it launched. All the complaints and people are still going buy it. Just don't get it and that will show them this is BS

    Honestly, I think, at least, DLC is not crap as re-release. At least, customers can see the price and judge by themselves. Re-release are not really good in the long term, especially re-release like just after 3 years. This piss off people who just by a month ago or make people unsure to buy the original version. It's basically sabotage their own original game.
    I would rather wait for Metaphor for about 2-3 years and see if they will have completed the edition same as P3R. (At least, P3R right now is heavily discounted on XBOX PASS.)

    i dont know how any of this is new since this started with persona 3 and person 3 FES on the ps2 and when the SMT games come to a new console they normaly get new mechanics and new story stuff (PS3P,PS4G,ds->3ds games) feels like old atlus to me. as much as i like some of the skins and music options is just giving companies money, just do what i do dont buy them, and maybe the will take hint and stop doing it

    It's rare I don't wait for "complete" versions. A game has to cross the barrier for me at all these days. I have limited time and money, and a decent backlog and games I already love. I just don't have time for these shenanigans. It just makes this release less interesting. I'm already against full retail price for remakes that don't innovate significantly. And I know that's subjective and I have nothing against people who can afford playing these games, but it's a zero sum market for me. I have to sacrifice something for every game I buy. I've no time for foolishness.

    you know the saying, you let companies do bullshite, you get to eat bullshite.
    maybe not buy it? wait 3-6 months, and then get it at a heavy discount.
    but of course, nobody is going to do that. instead they will cry, while opening their wallets and paying for as much as atlus asks for.
    so you know, so much for a controversy.
    but dont worry, next time will be so much worse, it make you remember this one fondly...

    Their business strategy is not sustainable. With royal and golden, potential buyers would wait for the definitive edition.
