This makes me feel like I’m not alone. I suffer from social anxiety and used to drinking to cope.
I had to quit because I was sent to AA and I’ve been sober for two months but I’ve noticed a few changes.
My metabolism has increased, interestingly I’ve noticed more wrinkles than before when I was drinking and I look way older which I’m not happy about and I also have more energy throughout the day but I have gained a sudden sweet tooth and cravings for carb sugary foods which is becoming a problem for me.
I’m going to do grocery shopping and all I’m buying are cake, pastries, chocolates and im never had much a sweet tooth before in fact i used to eat better when I was drinkjnfn

Hey, thanks for your message! You are not alone. Congrats on your 2 months. A thought I'd like to share with you... I see a lot of women quitting and replacing alcohol with emotional eating, especially sugar. This typically happens when people havent gone through the emotional detox from alochol so they are looking for other coping mechanisms to deal with the underlying reasons as to why they were drinking in the first place. Does this sound like you?

@@emma.l.kinsey I’ve got a sponsor who’s helping me to face my fears head on, most of which are due to paranoia and fear of leaving the house and a fear of other humans other than me.
I’ve taken adaptogens to manage my anxiety and tried relaxation techniques but nothing else worked for me and doing running and track only makes it worse. Nothing has helped me quite like alcohol but it’s all gone now. And cider beer and wine don’t have any effect on me anymore, only hard liquor like whiskey and vodka.
I sort of can’t cope going cold turkey tbh

@@emma.l.kinsey yeah sadly I do still have an addiction mindset. I used to smoke and since I almost went broke and quit I suddenly feel Iike I’m on weed , I think that’s why I got the munchies since I’m noticing I’m eating significantly more than when I was drinking and smoking but since I’ve given up both, food is my only reward when I’m having a stressful or depressing day
