Man would this be great for my Fuji XT3 Small rig kit. Too bad for Fuji owners. David if I’m not mistaken they have a wooden handle (the handle allows you to put the external hard drive inside of the handle) that will support the Samsung T5 external hard drive. Smallrig is killing it.
I am running this setup on a Sony A1. Interestingly enough it worked for about a year or so. Then it decided to allow me only to start recording but not to stop recording. I suspected that the plug-in of the Micro USB on the left side of the camera got loose. So... took it to the store, plugged the handle into a brand new Sony A1 of the shelf - and sure enough, worked like a charm... Next step... send it for repairs, took about six to get it back and € 299.00 later - yep, rode all the way home, set it up again and.... wait for it... did not work again. Only start recording but no stop recording function. Obviously, the store will be hearing from me in the very near future... BUT... ...anyone with the same "experience"? Is there maybe a setting in the menu that needs a nudge. I went through it but not aware there is that special place out there... feel free to comment. Thank you and happy shooting!

Do you prefer to use the SmallRig compared to a gimbal? I’ve been debating about getting one of these due to gimbals being a pain to deal with, but the SmallRig is pretty expensive. I especially like that you can hold it with two hands for the extra stability. I’d also like the ability to attach my tripod quick release plate to the bottom of the cage so I can go from following people to being on a tripod quickly. As you know, working as a hybrid shooter is all about time management, so I’m always looking for ways to make myself more efficient!
Hello David, just purchased one of these and I have all connected correctly however when I press record the a7 does not record everytime, I often end up spamming it or just having to hit the button on the camera, any ideas?
Hi David, the lead that you show in the video is clearly ment to travel a short distance. Do you know if there is a longer version available that will make is possible to use the handgrip on a shoulder rig? Because the right handle will be a lot lower and you don't want to stretch the cable too much. I hope you have the answer. Cheers!
So tempted to get one of these. Do you find the handle gets in the way of quickly adjusting aperture and shutter? I'm shooting weddings so am constantly adjusting exposure.

That is weird it always works for me
Try to set multi-port trigger or whatever setting from the menu for record start / stop

Does it also allows you to half-press for AF ?
Pretty sure it’s only to start and stop video.
Unfortunately only start / stop. Autofocus does not trigger when the shutter button is pressed halfway (Sony A7III)
