  • I fully destroy a $1000 Epson printhead to see what’s inside. We teardown the microfilm strainers, remove the copper micro nozzles and discover a magnetic alignment area.

I want to ask,, I did flushing on the yellow nozzle pole but why did the cleaner liquid come out on the black nozzle and can it still be fixed, I used an Epson L1800 printer.

There is probably internal damage in the print head where it’s become delaminated.

The separation glue between colors has been opened, resulting in ink mixing, which can be re bonded

I need your advice and help. I am trying te repair the DX5 print head. The printing itself is good, worked fine, only some clogged holes.
I noticed it can fixed by polish the print side of copper plate a bit (i saw under microscope hard dried spots).
The print head has only small air leak and ink mixing in 4 print lines. I am sure that is where copper came loose from plastic part, so small ink flow will happens to wrong side.
Due slight air leak, it cannot suck ink very well in 2-3 print lines.
But because i removed carefully copper plate, i saw its part of ink system. So i need advice:
    - which glue can i use to put copper plate back in place (so how do you put copper plate back in place?) - was glue a silicone glue?
    - can you polish copper a bit to remove hard spots and make all holes free? Of course very fine polish. Or better stronger liquid like aceton?
So yeah, how do you fix the DX5 head usually?
Thank you very much in advance!

there is no glue. don’t polish the Cooper plate.
soak all the parts in an ultrasonic cleaner with soapy water and a bit of ammonia. you can get a cheap ultrasonic jewelry machine for umber $25 from Walmart. works like a charm.
let’s it soak. the cut on the ultrasonic cleaner for 15 mins cycles until the ink head is cleared.

@@Yucksauce Thanks for the answer. But copper plate is already removed for the reason: i know now why it leaks. It's because copper plate came loose at some spots, causing the false air and ink will go to other side. You cannot FIX it without glueing again. Not with press against plate. Because once you applied bit too much pressure, it will pop up a bit from printhead side. One video explained it why copper plate is not strong glued (actually hot pressed to plastic).
It's because i applied too much pressure on it. So yeah it popped already a bit loose. My mistake without carefully preparing for it. I learned now my mistake, but now i must glue it with silicone glue.
I watched many videos and found out there is special business who did also repair heads and using special glue. It must applied very little and with high care. I will glue the copper plate and must know where holes are. Only that way i can fix the leaking problem with correct glueing printhead, and restore the working state again.
The reason to polish print side is due hard spots. Removing hard spots will free up holes and so full recover is possible. But of course, it's very fine, very little and soft polish or carefully remove hard spots with knife or picker under microscope. Or good rubbing with aceton. I will not polish the glue side. Only printing side.
