We live in a world that it's cheaper to replace than repair. To repair normal shoes is already more expensive to buy one and it's custom that repair to expensive items will also be quite expensive ( I mean, if the customer can buy 1k shoes and let the dog chew them, I'm sure they have quite a lot of money, so your prices can be very high; expert work is also expensive)
It becomes a choice to repair rather than replace. Of you have good quality shoes and you like them a lot, do repair! It's good for the environment and it's anti-comsumerism !

Depending on what happened to the leather and where the damage is, I would consider a dyed patch (if there's a hole/tear) instead, esp if it's on the part of the seat where your body's in regular contact. Paint will rub off real quick if it's on the part where you sit. If it's just some spots where the color has rubbed off completely on a dark leather, you can dab some oil on to make it a lot less noticeable (dab, not soak, either with a qtip for tiny spots or a rag or cotton ball for larger ones). Neatsfoot is my favorite for darkening things, it'll turn raw leather a lovely chocolate brown. Clean it before you oil it and then after, let it sit for a few hours before you drive (unless you don't mind a bit of oil on your clothes) though! (I'm not a leatherworker- I just work with horses and have cleaned + repaired a lot of horse tack.)
