I really loved the level design of this game, and the whole umbral concept was reaalllyyy incredible imo, the sense of fear in that mode is a really special gaming experience, one of the coolest innovations I've seen in a soulslike fr
Its very respectable that the devs didn't abandon the game and stuck through the horrendous launch to bring the game to a playable state. Maybe if they launched it like this they could've secured themselves a spot in conversations about good soulslikes.

I really think most games are made to be ran on cards that come after the current cards
The first game was like that couldn't max it with current cards until the 10 series came

getting interconnected combos between light and heavy attacks, also with the changing of 1h/2h attacks is reaallllyyyyy nice, I really wish DS/ERing had this, it makes the combat system feel much more fluid I think, really loved that about this game
Bloodborne kind of does that with the transform attacks
Great Frickin video, Overall, the video was well scripted. It was very fluent. and very natural sounding plus with the right music in the background. It felt so much more immersive. Great video....

I tell everyone who’ll listen that the game is fixed now and it’s never been better love this game easily my favorite game of last year even with all the problems we had with it still a great idea ,and now is the best time for people who never played it to jump in

The release of this game was so rough i probably wont go back but its cool to see they care and have been steadily fixing things

Dang maybe its time I give this game another chance. I LOVED the first half of the game but eventually the game just felt tedious to explore and move through.
hopefully these changes allow you to enjoy the rest of the more. It was pretty tedious before.
It still is in a lot of places. Elite enemy after elite enemy. It's worst mid game when you aren't as powerful.
Don't choose a strength build like I did. If you choose radiance it's much more manageable.
Lots of clunky platforming, falling from ledges, cliffs, wooden beams whatever...if I wanted that I'd play a much more polished Prince of Persia. I enjoyed the game until I came up on a level with lots of platforming then I quit.
@GatsuKS If you can stomach getting past that part it's actually much better after. I haven't had any other platforming sections since skyward Bridge and I'm in the last area. There's a few jumps but nothing like that infuriating place.

Co-op is still broken and full of bugs, in my hour of testing with a friend, we both turned invisible three times, the environment turned completely black, losing all texture twice & the whole time performance was bad due to latency/optimization.
Sad that this game will probably never be fixed, also, it’s dumb the co-op player still doesn’t share loot with the party leader, makes it so you and your friend have to play through twice or simultaneously if you want to maintain a steady pace, both of which are tedious options.
If you want a great co-op experience in a souls-like, look to Remnant 2
Remnant 2 is weak as shit why people act like that game wasn't buggy as shit at first

The game comes to xbox game pass on the 30th of May, stoked to finally try it as fell in love with souls recently and this one looks interesting! Glad to see it's had to improvements before vetting my hands on it!

A damn shame this game has been forgotten. I hope it serves as a cautionary tale to new devs to delays games that are clearly unfinished instead of releasing it broken then fixing it later. That nasty first impression is going to stick and people won't come back.

Thank you, this is exactly what I needed to make my decision, few of my friends who played it when it was released told me about all the issues that you mentioned, specially the issues with enemy placement and their numbers, I'm so glad to hear the devs worked so hard and listened to the players, that's actually a rare thing this days,

Bought the deluxe edition recently at 50% discount on PSN. The master patch or something. LOVE the game as an old soulsfan.
THAT IS VERY GOOD IT WARMS MY HEART TO KNOW THAT THE dev team listened to the community and took a more casual approach for their game.

I really enjoyed this souls like, it's one of the best. Would instantly buy a lords of the fallen 3.
It gets the soulslike formula right and is very unique with it's own twists. Can recommend it to anyone who loves soulslikes. If you didn't like it at launch, then go for it now. You will love it after the first 2-3 Hours.
So very nice to see the dev team continue to not give up and make this game the best it can be, now we can confidently say it actually is a better experience than the original Lords of the Fallen. Hopefully their next project is able to account from what they have learned from this game, Hexworks has some great potential if they are willing to really listen to their community and growing fanbase and make due on their initial goals and promises.

Bought this game on sale a few days ago and must say im really enjoying it! I guess it was worth waiting months later to buy(for a discounted price also) since the launch was horrendous.

Great video, I'm playing it jnow for the first time and I'm having a great time. I've played all From Soft and most well known other souls-likes games . There are places that it's much easier and others when it's way harder especially with range fire enemies (can't imagine how it was before the nerfs). I'm around halfway through the game and had no idea about not be able to fall while attacking. 😂
So I'm in for a better experience then, As I've not had a chance to play the game yet. Great video and well explained.
I have this game on PS5 it's probably one of my top four souls likes including froms games - the issues were overblown at launch and these dudes care and have worked HARD
biggest weaknesses for me:
- Boss difficulty
- Enemy variety
- Character creation and animations
Loved LOTF when it released and still love it through all the updates and patches to make sure the experience was much smoother for more people to enjoy.. one of the better soulslike games imo.
As a souls fan and having a mighty PC (Ryzen 5 7600x & RX 6800XT), I liked this game a lot! Have beat it 3 times in new games and twice in NG+
Haven't yet tried the NG+ modifiers implemented by the very last update

My biggest issue with coop was that if the host died the boss would reset it made it seem stupid for me not to go and do as much damage as I could to the boss and my friend(host) finishes them off
I think you did a great job on this review! I finished this game when it came out with all the issues. I will be going back to try out the new updates...after The Elden Ring DLC! Keep up the great work!

Man I love the environment design of Lords of the fallen.
I really want them to make a sequel and make the levels a bit open because many times it's very narrow.

Dedicated throwing weapon spot is most limiting feature in game. You can not have long range weapon in you regular slot, or two range weapons equipped at same time, for no reasson. it is limiting the amounts of build you can make by a lot compared to any dark souls game or ER.
Coop at launch actually worked almost flawlessly for me and a friend. We beat the game twice in a span of 3 days(100% pretty much).
Have the game on PS5. Having platinum'd the game I can say it is an excellent 'souls like' game. I didn't find it as hard as some souls games but I know people that don't play souls games complained this game was too hard. But for souls game players this game looks stunning and sounds stunning and the back and forth between the world of the living and the world of the dead is really cool. All the patches have made it a very feature rich, stable game.

My only problem is trophies don't work right but i been playing since release definitely a must play for people who like dark souls type games

I really wish Fromsoft would follow the way co-op works in LOTF. My girlfriend and I have had an awesome experience with this by not needing to do everything twice (outside of dying) and being able to go at our own pace since we can rest at vestiges.
I can't understand why From doesn't want to do this, I just keep hearing people talk about how the game has to be hard. But maybe that's the problem, it doesn't make it hard as much as it makes it tedious and repetitive.
Just finished my first full playthrough after patch 1.5. This game is VERY underrated. It became my favorite non-FromSoft soulslike.

I bought this game at launch. Returned it the day after. Was nothing like I expected.
Beat this game atleast 5 times, 2more criticisms, 1. Bosses are not up to par with Ds3, ER, Sekiro, Bloodbourne or Lies of P. 2. When you lock on to enemies alot of times youll just dodge around the enemy, not allowing you to create distance to heal or refocus. I enjoyed my time with it

Let me say a total different game I have played it left me impressed. I’m glad it came to gamepass gave me reason to try it. The fast pace almost not exactly like BloodBorn.
Just came out for gamepass and after watching this I’m stoked. Just wanted some to scratch that from software itch before the DLC and think I might’ve just gotten that and more
I bought a physical Xbox SX copy of this game today and it's amazing. It still requires some polishing, it has audio bugs, occasional framerate drops but the visuals are absolutely stunning and the game is fun, the combat is more like in DS2.
Definitely gunna give it another shot

I tried this game for 20 hours and I love the level design, but the moveset and camera cause me a lot of motion sickness.
For the dev's first game this game is fantastic
So what about the health drops also you don't get much health and what about the dark world are you still timed the longer your there gets harder so you can't explore also checkpoint is there more
Is this game a hard souls like game? I love the look of all the souls games but don’t have the time to get good in them. I even tried Elden ring but it’s got too much crap going on with inventory etc for me to grasp lol may need more time with them

Good on the devs for sticking with it. I'm on pretty powerful pc. So, i was able to experience the game at launch with very few issues. I loved it. Friends on Xbox didn't have a good experience. Hopefully, they can now see what i saw in this game. It's my favorite non from software, souls like game

I have finished it like a month ago on PS5 and yes, apart from few minor fps hickups here and there, its very playable. I did not experience any problem apart from the usual "git gud" 😂 its a very unique and good soulslike, love it.

You don’t want to do that. The game was really bad because of it. You could never just…plant your feet and fight bc there were enemies all over the place.

When you play new game + , the game will have the mob density from the game release and less checkpoints.
I'll always be proud of the fact that I beat this game before any patches ever.
I avoided buying Lords of the Fallen when it came out because of the bad reviews. But they released version 1.5 and it went on sale so I thought to give it a try. I’m surprised by how much I’m enjoying it. It’s actually a great game

tbh my main issue with the game can't really be addressed, and that was lack of build variety, with every weapon type acting the exact same way.
Im stuck on rhe first boss its tough on the dragon
they tweaked the glaring problems, to make them a little bit less noticeable
Attacking stops you falling off a ledge is an odd move. It goes against the rule of being aware of your surroundings - that's a skill issue not a game design issue

I'll have to add also that during the run of the game, they added new quest, weapons, special weapon attacks,holiday guides, a couple of new armors and a bunch of new spells.
They had patch the game every Thursday without fail since release.
That being said the game looks significantly worse on Xbox Series X that at release. Runs a lot better since it was unplayable at the beginning but it doesn't wow me like before.
Armors sets are amazing and better than any souls game. Only thing i didnt like were the end game bosses that had boring designs.
Anyone play on PS5? Just got the game not too long ago and haven't once found anyone for co-op so far.
Im on my 3rd new game plus, i used the randomizer for this last playthrough, and i actually added more mob density. And randomized enemies. Im level 224, and the biggest gripe i had when i 1st started playing was the camera lock on. But i learned to lock on and off. Im a big fromsoft fan, i play all their games, and honestly i think this game is actually pretty good. Id give it 7.5 - 8 out of 10.
Maybe the MP can be optimized a bit. But the lag can be the players fault too.
It blown my mind that devs can’t do co op properly. Just allow us to start a fresh bespoke co op experience together where we both progress. Really simple.
I just wish i was good at these types of games so i could actually play them
