      I enjoyed the video and it only reinforces what I've always thought, designing in SU is fantastic. Still, after all of the great stuff you have here and how it really helps to design, SU still falls short in the "real world production drawings". As an architect, doing lots of residential, my budget doesn't allow the use of the complicated and slow process of Layout. Please please please develop a better way of producing 2D constructions drawings. If my budget allowed, I would use Layout. But again, it doesn't work in a "real" architects office. FYI, designing in SU then exporting to CAD is great is there are no changes from the client. But when the changes start, it's a management nightmare.

      Actually, Revit license costs 2,300$+ while Sketchup cost 299$ per year
      still there are many free plugins which will help you with model faster... which a little plugins you buy for Sketchup and which sums 1,000$ per year and still you can model faster than Revit

    I'm returning to architecture after a long career in corporate property development (I started in the days of pencil on tracing paper) and i love Sketchup and the ability to undertake 3D design at concept stage. I've worked my way up to an intermediate competency and am now ready to dive into Extensions - I'll probably start with your #10 Plusspec and probably quickly add on the rood design and ground/site modulation tools. Thanks for the video, it's very helpful for me.

    The biggest barrier to all of this is the cost for those who don't know how likely they will make a return on the investment. It would be nice to see a fully functioned architectural open source package, something like Blender, with everything you could need for most any residential architecture already built in. Even better, be able to edit the underlying code via node-based interface, to create your own off-shoots of tools. I would love the parametric abilities of Inventor / Revit combined with the ease and content of Chief Architect, the modeling tools and inferences of SU, and the animation/rendering of Blender & 3dsmax, all tightly integrated. But of course how would this get built and paid for :) probably a dream too far.

    Alex: Yes I learned something new, -Glad to hear more about some new dimensions to Sketchuip School, as in library of tutorials on Artisan and to learn more about Enroth, Flatten to plane. Those two extensions could be very useful. I had a version of Valli Doors/Windows extensions, and liked what was there, but didn't know enough about all the required specifications to make it useful. Although they were very willing to answer questions. The library's on Valli alone is worth the cost of the extension. Seriously researching Skimp. Most of what I do is indoors so not worried about topography Regards, JB

    is there any extnsions for lifts, as some homes and buildings have lifts in them for buildings for places with more then a single floor, or is there any tuts/guilds on how to build them in skecthup

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 2 lety

      I am not aware of any extensions for creating lifts, and I haven't run across any good tutorials for building them. However, the core SketchUp skills that you'll need to employ would be the same ones you'd use to create rooms, buildings or other structures. For those sorts of things, we have a Video Course Library that teaches all of the fundamental skills you need - and we have instructors that can guide you as you apply what you've learned to creating lifts. You can learn more and sign-up here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library

      Many play pretty nicely together. If you get PlusSpec, you wouldn't need some of the others (like Instant Roof) because PlusSpec will already have tools for helping you create roofing, windows and doors and more. PlusSpec doesn't have a photorealistic rendering tool, so you could render using V-Ray and that would work pretty well.

    How many extension are available in free in all 10 ?

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 3 lety

      If you are asking how many of these extensions are available in SketchUp Free, the answer is zero. You can't install extensions in SketchUp Free. You can only do so in SketchUp Pro.
      If you are asking how many of the 10 extensions are free, the answer is also zero. This list was narrowed down to cover only the more in-depth, paid extensions that were designed to solve specific and more complicated architectural design challenges.

    All good, but Plusspec's price way too much as a 'plugin'. Ive subsrcribed Vali Architect for about 3 years, Flextools 1 year, and I bought 'bundle' pluigins from Mindsight Studio ( 3 plugin at 1 price ), S4u bundle, Curic bundle, Enscape, D5 Render and some others. I purchased em because they sell with price that I can afford. I rather spend my money for upcoming RTX 3090 x2 Nvlink or go for real one.. which is subs Archicad for USD2280/year for 'complete' version of Plusspec. Or Revit if you do more like engineer work. Theres 2 plugin that come with high price, Plusspec & Condoctool. I believe many people wish to buy those plugins but when they look at the price, owh well, no thanks.

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for sharing your feedback and experience. I think that PlusSpec is pricing against bigger packages like ArchiCAD or Revit, and so for folks who need BIM functionality, SketchUp + PlusSpec is a less expensive alternative. Still, the price point won't be for everyone.
      Really happy to hear you've invested in some of these other extensions!

    And basically you just watched an add.

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 3 lety

      This video isn't sponsored by anyone or any company. None of the extension makers paid us - we chose to feature them independently. It just so happens that the Instant Architecture extensions are all pretty helpful for Architects... and the others on this list are all great too.

  • @ManuelGarcia-qs1yr

    this video is mostly about the instant plugins, you could have put them all under a single point... not really that useful

    • @SketchUpSchool
      @SketchUpSchool  Před 4 lety +1

      Sorry you didn't find the video to be useful. We took a look at the common categories where architects like to employ extensions and it turned out that some of the Instant extensions best filled the needs of that particular category. Putting them under a single point would have been confusing (Roofs and Site Grading are quite different problems, for example).
