    Flesh into Gear is one of the greatest songs ever made. The riff of 96 bb is iconic even for people who don’t like skating.

    I'm almost certain the last B at the end of the roof is slid into from below, but other than that, this was a damn near perfect sound emulation.

    This was the riff that got me into learning guitar and wanting to play in/front a band. One of the most underrated bands of the late 90s/early 2000s with a unique sound.

    As a 80s baby who grew up skating, and lived in Philly and VA between parents. These CKY tapes and the Big Brother and eventually Jackass stuff was just the backround noise and visualizations of my growing up years lol

    Man, I was 13 years old in 1999 so I can absolutely recognise my own teenage years in what you described. What a crazy time to be young! I still listen to the first 2 CKY records every few years. Such a great band and some very tasty riffs. Whenever I hear an OC2 or see someone playing a Parker Fly, I can’t help but think of CKY.

    The catchiest riff ever written. CKY has some amazing songs for sure. Darron's Melo death band World Under Blood has some really awesome guitar work as well.

    I saw CKY perform in college, they opened for Atreyu (there's a sentence I never thought it'd say). I don't remeber much, but I remember the lead singer was playing a Parker and just definitely playing lead lines while singing and I'm 100% sure he never looked at the fretboard.

    The octave pedal is the “secret” essential ingredient in making this sound like it does. Dunno why it just adds this vibe to the whole thing. Its a great riff

    I'm Brazilian this riff resonates with me exactly the same way you described: 2000's, Bam Margera, Tony Hawks Pro Skater, playing my acqua blue strat with a Zoom 505 and a crappy amp.

    I'm ashamed to say I'd first heard the song while in Iraq yearssss after it was out.
    Instant ear worm that I had to sit down and learn. Still one of my favorite riffs to warmup. with.
    Helps you get your muting in check and there's some awesome arpeggio practice slipped it.

    Yes!! I was born in 97. I remember seeing the music video on CZcams when I was like 12 or so. I had started learning guitar a year earlier and was finally able to play this riff. Still love to play it all these years later, iconic

    Always dug that sound, in general. Something about using the octaver with those kinds of riffs just really cuts through. I know Derron is more into death metal and prog but because it's so riff-centric, it really is comfortable in a desert rock/stoner metal setting.

    This song slams though, first time I ever heard it was in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 or 3
    Also for some reason, at one point my friend and I set “If You Must” as the only song that plays, and we would forget the next time we played, and it would just repeat. To us that was the funniest thing ever.

    Deron and Chad were a brilliant writing duo. CKY band came out at the right and wrong time, in my opinion. It was right in line with Bam's videos and it catapulted the band into stardom, but if those songs were created and released with more of a social media presence, I think it would've been even bigger.
