Hi, guys! My name is Eirik and I'm a gear nerd! I guess you are too since you have ended up on my CZcams channel. I do gear demos and other guitar related videos for your viewing pleasure. Straight to the point, clean looking and good sounding. No talking if not needed.
When not doing CZcams I play guitar and lap steel in bands and work as a teacher. I also spend a lot of time on photo and videography. I try to utilize all of this into this channel so that I can make the best videos possible. Hopefully you'll like them! Welcome, and I hope to meet you in comment sections of my videos!

This is a really good demo. Have you tried any other bare knuckle pickups?
$1300 hahaha
Great review. I bought one of the first release and it's there. While I do wish it had a little more gain, run a Q-Zone in front for stuff like Song for the Dead, the higher signal pushes it nicely. My NotaKlon also works well, it has that slight mid-hump.
3:01 is it the inspiration for the Grand Budapest Hotel ?
The only thing missing… the ability to switch between Left and Right or stereo (both) Say you were running an IR-X and IR-D (or two other separate) preamps on the same pedalboard. You might want to just run one or the other… or blend them together… or have FX with only one, for a wet-dry setup. I guess you could do your guitar into an A/B/Y switcher then into this… but man that simple ability built in would be the shizzy!!
Zvex SHO works really really well into the skeleton key. I've also found that using the skeleton key with sub 12 o'clock on the gain and then hitting it harder with the SHO works best. It's much more percussive this way for rhythm strumming. I engage the SIB echodrive after the Skeleton key for leads.
I should also state that this above is what i do for humbuckers and filtertrons.
To me it still lacks some kind of top end.... I can't explain, but sounds like a carpet before an amp cabinet.
One thing that's really clear to me about Rated R through Lullabies is that he's using a guitar loaded with high output Dimarzios through an overdrive into a small combo amp (most likely different combo amps for each guitar take) On the intro to "Better living through Chemistry" There is NO WAY those are not Dimarzios. Either the Super Distortion, Super 2 or Super 3. Those are the only pickups that make a sound like that with the volume knob rolled off. Any guitar loaded with one of those 3 pickups, through an overdrive pedal into a combo amp will get you in the ball park of his early tone.
I wonder if there's a free plug in out there.
Have fun in your quest of the Graiel. It sounds huge....
I have a custom shop Cyclops and as much as I love the guitar, I do find problems with the electronics too, same issue with the selector switch losing signal sometimes when switching to the bridge pickup and it seems like my coil split toggle does next to nothing. I'm inclined to contact Dunable and seeing if they will go over it.
Love this vid but the reason I came here was to see what he uses for the solo in 7 nation army… I’m guessing that octave down pedal goes up as well?
excellent job man. really good stuff
Hola amigo.About ecoflow river 2 power station.I have read people using power stations (with proper pure sine wave)having “hum’s”/noises connecting guitar amps to power stations.Have you tried to connect a guitar amp to the ecoflow river 2? Thanks a lot
Get the Waza Metal Zone. You can dial a custom mode a lot closer.
I’m glad you demoed with distortion! Nobody does that with the mustang.
Great tune, beautiful guitar.
Hi. Great video! Would you mind saying what guitar that is please?
Plenty close. Very cool.
Listening more than looking. Perhaps I can do something similar with my crap gear.
I love my Bellwether but it will never surpass my DM-2 or DM-3
So it's a mid boost lol.
Absolutely it does
Just bought this guitar, it freaking rocks
"If I could buy stock at JHS, I would do that NOW!" well put.
I wouldn't spend silly money on a Decade (especially when you can still pick up the better models in that line up (additional control, bigger/better speakers etc and the same preamp) for "yard sale" money) but those old Peavey amps do have great sounds in them if you're willing to sit and dial them in. Rancho De La Luna has basically every model from that series (including the decade) in their studio stash too. I picked up a Backstage Plus (decade with a 12 inch driver, reverb and "saturation" control) and it's killer. I'm using it as the "wet" in a wet/dry stereo rig just now, it's a nice contrast to my gain-y Marshalls, holds together well getting hit with some pretty extreme delay/verb n mod.
Really appreciate this comparison! Very insightful and you may have sold me on the AT 🤙🏼
I know the QOTSA tone is cleaner than people think, but I kept thinking it was lacking some saturation, almost like it wants the amp to be a bit dirtier before it hits it
Tangled Up In Plaid chorus riff is supreme
Stop looking so norwegian. Best regards/ Sweden.
Majority of Josh homme tone comes from a natural distortion from turning up a tube amp until it naturally distorts.
You just convinced me not to sell mine but go practice more.
Its close!! Great pedal, pairs up nicely!!
Nice dunable! I have a USA custom cyclops. Amazing instrument
The first three QOTSA albums made rock history, the fourth album was just average and the remaining albums are just boring. No more madness. No more sick distortions. No more punk.
I wonder why it is called a preamp pedal if you still need the amp anyway, this is am overdrive/boost pedal, is not what I need right now.
I've heard QOTSA members saying that a lot of their stuff is lower gain than you'd probably think (makes sense for basically anything after Lullabies). So I'm guessing they just play aggressively.
What's the fuzz pedal being used?
Fjord Fuzz FENRIS
Meh
Spot on
This is top quality mate. You have a real ear and insight into the queens tone like I haven’t found from anyone else on youtube
Now you need a guitar that will live it's life in drop c
I have a guita that live it's life in C standard
@@LivingroomGearDemos nice. I've got one Ampro JM. It don't like when I drop it that low . Neck goes a bit weird for two weeks when I put it back in standard. Always stops me playing more qotsa 😔
Needs more attack and mids on the amp
My question, what is that sound in general?
Dirty and nasty but not high gain. Pushed mids
this pedal is like the campbell’s soup equivalent to josh’s michelin-star live tone haha. looks fun though
Been looking at grabbing this pedal for a while and was waiting for you to do a review of it so i know ill get the sound i want thanks man
Add an EQ to boost the mids and you’re there!
As long as you play like homme an their riffs it will. But so would many others. It does look nice though.
Can you do a lesson on the way you use to do my qotsa? I can't figure out the riff
This intro song is so good!
