Thank you sister!!! We are going camping g this weekend-only water hook up. We always take three ways to cook and power up! We carry a gas generator always to recharge the battery which is charging the 12v fridge constantly….and if we decide to use an induction plate to cook a quick meal (usually breakfast) -as not to waste charcoal or gas! Solar is always the back up plan! For a 2-3 day camping trip-we’ve never come close to running out of power or even 50% of battery. People have different needs based on where they are in life (age) but we have friends who don’t think efficiently when it comes to power consumption. They wanna bring their entire house hold conveniences out to the woods. Makes no sense without proper power management. (For tent camping especially) Thank you so much for sharing. You’re very kind!

I love off grid camping. Sometimes I get a little jealous of the little campers though. Mine is 29’ so I can fit a lot of places, but not some of the places I see the teardrops lol
We camp without hookups all the time in Northern MN. But I think it's time to invest in a portable power station. It's nice to be able to keep food in fridge instead of coolers. Great vid!

Done with tents and first trip with the camper to Michigan’s UP this week. Bought the Genmax 3300, which got great reviews on Project Farm, and will be boon-docking. Hopefully between that and 4 propane 20# the fridge will stay cold and occasionally use the microwave. Still will cook mostly over the fire but the stove option is nice. Just getting older and want a real bed and not worry about the tent flooding.

Great overview Randi. My preference is to always dry camp as often full hookup campsites are crowded and can be noisy. Fortunately we have solar with lithium batteries, so electricity is a non-issue. Dry camping, or boondocking, does require being more thoughtful water use compared to full hookups.

Informative. Completely new to the RV thing - don’t even own one yet and just starting to research - for now mostly interested in no water/sewer hookup (but will have electric and a shared toilet/no shower), staying in one place for months at a time.
We have camped many times without hookups. We have portable solar panels so we are able to move around the panels and chase the sun. When we are boondocking, I like to refer to the camper as a big, comfy tent.
We like camping without the hookups unless it is extremely hot/humid. I think it is wonderful not to smell and/or see your campground neighbor's sewer connections while you are enjoying your outdoor meals/activities. We LOVED Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument, AZ. Close by are flush toilets, but other than that, you are boondocking.

Back in my younger days when traveling with my parents we didn't have a self contained trailer, then when we did we still stayed in NP campgrounds where there was water available but not at each site. Now with our self contained trailer. We have camped without hook ups but we did have a generator to run the Ac. It isn't that hard to do it , it just takes some planning.
That's interesting, Randi. I have a 2019 Max, and mine came with a quick disconnect for plugging a grill in on the side of the camper. I tap right into the camper propane for cooking outdoors. The disconnect is to the rear of the right wheel.
Great point! You definitely can do that and this might be more convenient for propane gas grills when the campsite picnic table is close enough to your RV or you bring along a portable table. 😎
Be sure you use a grill that does not have a regulator on it when attached to that LP quick connect port. It's a low pressure LP port (uses the big whole trailer regulator just like the rest of the appliances). A lot of portable camp grills have permanently attached regulators so won't work right (direct bottle screw on to control is a dead giveaway)
Thanks for the info. Water and sewer hook ups I can manage without. Not quite ready to give up electric yet. Have had the experience where I've lost power at campgrounds though. Maybe I'll will put Jackery Explore 1000 on my wish list for next year. Sept is the latest I go out, Oct time to winterize. Had to look up CPAP exactly what it was. Not sure what to say about it. Feel sorry for the people that need one. I am 75 and been blessed with good health.

Very informative. We have camped at two different state parks without sewer. We have a teardrop with similar tank sizes. We set up an outdoor shower tent next to our outdoor shower. I love showering outdoors. I also use Steam2sea soaps which are biodegradable - much prefer Stream2sea to Dr Brauner’s.
We just bought our first camper a few weeks ago, and I e fallen in love with your channel. We got a 2015 Flagstaff Micro Lite FBKS. We haven’t even camped in yet, the two things I loved the most I already don’t like. The Murphy bed is more of a pain in the butt than I expected, and we can’t really use the camper without the slide out because the kitchen is on the slide and blocks access to the bathroom and the dinette on one side, and blocks the murphy bed from being able to be unfolded on the other side. Lessons learned, we’ll deal with it as long as we need to until we get a new camper. Experience is how we learn, right?

We're hoping to get our class B in a week, it's going through it's check out. I'm going to add solar panels and batteries. It has an onboard generator also. Boondocking looks like fun.
It’s the final countdown! Solar panels are really nice to have to keep your battery charged for longer boondocking trips. Be sure to let me know when you have your new Class B!
"Pit toilets, a place to dump your garbage". Could be one and the same. :) I camped one night without hookups, but it was just an overnight stop while traveling. I prefer to have electric, because of heat and a/c.

How long does one of those Propane tanks last for you when you are not using hookups? How big is that one on your camper, 5 glns? What are you using that utilizes the propane? Thanks again!
Congrats on your upcoming RV life, Rod! How long a 20 lb propane tank lasts depends on so many things. But on average I can go several days to a week. I use propane for the stove, heater, and refrigerator.

We watched a video of yours awhile ago about filling your rv with potable water and you used an adapter with a rubber connector that had threads which went over the spigot without threads. Can you please tell me what that is called as we need one. Thank you in advance.
Hey Robert! I always make sure my Jackery is 100% charged before I leave home. I keep it charged on the go using the car charger cable when driving as needed but the most convenient way to recharge it is with the Jackery solar panels I purchased. Between these two charging methods I have never run out of portable power.

Hey Terri! I hadn’t heard of Stream2sea so I looked it up. They have a 3 in one conditioning shampoo and body soap. I love that it is biodegradable.
