Long gun/sneak build, mainly using hunting rifles, then sniper rifle then pink slip and shotguns the entire game solo. You invest in perks that help you out while your alone, you play the game slowly as if on legendary halo. Every group of enemies have what I like to call a recall point, you shoot at one take him out and retreat until the rest run away. Now this doesn’t always work if in an enclosed area that’s what the shotgun and TD is for. Adding a couple point is dodge helps for the final boss fight as well. All in all, sneak 100/ long gun 100, lock pick 100 the others you can do with as you please. Fun game, but easy.
@trueshadow64 Probably not. It's easier to use a Deadeye Mk II as much as possible with a suppressor, corrosive (possibly even keep copies for plasma and shock as well), and a super scope. I find these tips work best for the smoothest supernova run: (1) focus on Heavy Weapons - flamethrower with silencer and good stealth ability is deadly, but just as good is using a variety of Plasma Launchers (plasma, electric, corrosive) - the splash effect is great for hitting multiple enemies at once (2) don't bother with Companions... NEVER even recruit one - it boosts a key level 2 perk by +5 more for every ability (3) it's easier to be evil early on - if you side with the Board you can get to Byzantium much quicker, and by acting in the movie audition, you can get a deadly Plasma Rifle 2.0 early in the game, plus steal a Grenade Launcher 2 from the weapons shop there. You can always change your mind and side with Phineas when the Adjutant asks you to plant the tracking signal on Phineas' lab (4) it helps a little if you choose the Bartender occupation during character build - it boosts drink effects by +3% which delays you getting thirsty or tired (5) don't do a Melee build for Supernova. You'll wind up getting maimed by Canids, higher chance of concussions, etc. all of which basically send you all the way back to your ship to sleep off the effect, which is insanely tedious
Does that help? I assume you mean set them to far and passive? I never thought of that. I'm really not struggling with this difficulty but my companions really are!
Ya. Basically until you get better weapons and armor, as well as leadership skills, do not make them fight. Do all the work yourself until they level up
Tip 1 leave your companions on the ship until tartarus(If you have a high charm then you won't need them at tartarus either) Tip 2 Eat drink and sleep You can die and will take stat penalties. Tip 3 speed run it Get to the ship, talk to Thompson, get Max's book, add him to the crew for the hack bonus, turn the power off to edgewater l, take their power relay, fast travel ro your ship. Go to the groundbreaker, grab the shrowd from your room. Then steal the seal from the safe in glades room. (Stand beside it TTD lock pick steal, fast travel while in TTD, go to board guy on the groundbreaker offer to turn in Phineas give him his seal. Go to Bezanthum, begin to steal from the secretary run past the door to your left and go behind the plant he will chase you and unlock the door go in there use the computer. Go steal the chemical from the lab get the ID off the gaurd by the stairs you can steal it. Choose the 32% option. Go to Phineas. Tell him about the board being after him. Hack his computer. Go to the hope skip it using Ada. Go to Phineas' lab avoid getting seen close the door click the pig use the computer get the gun and the navi key. Now get your Persuade to 60 and have felix with the Prrsuade skill. Also have your hack to 80 and lock pick to 100. Armor and skills count. Make sure to have the sprint speed perk. Go to Tarturus jump the boxes, lockpick the door to the left use the elevator, get spoken to once jump on the lift and over the wall use the elevator make it to the last elevator. Now either charm The board lady or lockpick the door and hack the computer for 80 or 100. If its 80 shot the auto and run for your life as the drone kill it. Done. This is from memory it maybe missing stuff.
Coming from a solo fallout 4 survival mode, this doesn’t seem all that bad. The tutorial area is a pain in the ass at first but after a while it shouldn’t be too bad. Probably gonna go for a stealth and TTD run
Don't use companions for super nova until you unlock the resurrection talent. Enemies die pretty easily provided you use an element they are weak to (plasma for most organics, shock for robots, corrosive for mantis). I have all the lone wolf talents and just melt everything without much effort.
Keep them far away from you and change the behavior to passive. That works because the enemy focus on you and will ignore your companions. It's a lot tougher though because you will have to do fight by yourself
Man i despise the enemies having more health part. Wish they woulda went the route where you and enemies both hit hard and both are squishy. Im reinstalling this now bc i been on a kick for trying to beat games that have a hard survival mode after i beat fallout 4 on survival. Survival mode changed that entire game and it worked soooo perfectly. I love how they handled it instead of giving all the enemies sponge armor. Im still gonna give this a try, but im hoping they dont juice the enemy health up to borderlands levels.
Forget combat, just go stealth. Very high Intelligence with very high dialogue also. You don't have to worry about companions dying because you won't really be fighting, lol. Seriously, go the pacifist route. You'd be surprised what you can accomplish without violence. ;)
Seems extremely effective, yet boring as I suffer from bloodlust.. I'll just go with a sneaky sniper, TTD, and lonewolf build.. only using companions in more passive areas (given I know I won't be fighting) for those extra skill buffs
Not sure if it's helpful for supernova mode but I found a big food stash and It's kept my inhaler stocked up early on. At the botanical research facility there's about 40+ mock apples. On the floor under trees (not stealing) and in a small storage room near the campfire (must be stolen). A guard does enter the storage.
so i've read some of the perks and i'm confused on Supernova is there a difference between a companion going down vs perma death? cause some perks say revives at 25% HP
Idk about tip 2. All my companions died on the first or second enemy encounter, and I found it better to just use stealth or avoid combat when I could.
This mode would be really fun if New Game Plus existed in the game. I can mow down everything with a Lv55 Specter science weapon. And my ship chest is filled to the brim with consumables.
In a lot of battles once I get to the start where I'll start the ambush, I'll eat a 200% regeneration and a 25% base health, and then in my inhaler I'll have the things I think I might need if things get hairy - maybe an armor boost and a TTD regen boost, or body + mind. Boosting body or mind (depending on if you're a melee or ranged fighter) before any tough battles is very helpful.
You can manipulate the enemies AI in some places. For example, when finding Zoe, if you get spotted, run away and hide. When the enemies stop searching and start running back they don't seem to attack you until they've returned to their original spawn area.
i found that being a few levels higher than an enemy makes it slightly easier and dont take the flaw that makes you scared of automacanicals if you wanna use sam make sure you have companions armor as high as you can afford of your level and get the health and armor perks for them first
Early top for supernova 1: is to get all exp in early game you can get your grubby hands on because you want those stat perks like inhaler healing companions early. And if you spec into that square one you can spend extra points as you see fit. I also recommend good ol'fashioned minmaxing. Dont throw points around here and there be a specialist. This opens up room to take on some flaws that might hinder you entirely otherwise. Lastly. It only limits autosaves. Not manual. Manual save often
Stealth and dialogue OP in Supernova. Also do every quest that's not reliant on combat. You can skip any and every sidequest you find too hard with the exception of the ones needed to stop the broadcast which are all pretty easy with decent gear. But do all the "legwork/talking to people" easier sidequests. You ideally want to be level 20 at least at the end so that you can either do a "Talk to avoid the boss fight" respec or a "Pick and hack the terminal" respec. Unless you want to fight the final boss plus drones fair and square on Supernova, which is hardcore
*me starting ToW for the first time* “Hmmm. Well I always do no follower/stealth in Thesda games so I’ll do that here” *tip 2 of this guide* “Companions are absolutely crucial to your survival in combat” Fuck me I guess 🤷🏻♂️
I don't see how Supernova is even playable. ALL my companions die (get knocked out) on EVERY fight...on Normal. They would all permanently die on their very first fight in Supernova and I don't see how it would go any other way, they charge in and die or they do nothing at all.
Its pretty unbalanced, i am pretty sure its impossible to bring a character with you after the first planet. i mean at least they should add an option to pick up you companions before they die.
I made a diolog focused charicter thinking i could talk or sneak my way to everything...And put it on supernova. Was that a mistake, my guns break like mode of cardboard, companions die at first contact, slowtime lasts a second and takes forever to recharge. Stealth is so barebones its impossable to kill one without all knowing my position. Worst of all, bullet sponge. All enemies are sponges.
I think I will try super nova very soon. Normal is way too easy. And hard doesn't seem like much of a challenge. I have ridiculous amounts of loot that I'll probably never use unless I'm on highest difficulty
Super nova is a breeze even without companions if u tinker your weapons, re assign ur skill points to pass the skill checks, steal always as long as u dont get caught, only keep 2 types of food, adreno, water, i sell any other consumables and mods
Yeah i started supernova and quit it because its dumb. Thats kinda the concenses of players. The no quicksaveing fources redoing diologs over and over again and ruins the fun of reading between the lines of options and takes away the moment to moment gameplay when its the 6th attempt on this hour streach on content. The survival meeters are neat but they are so over bearing. Like really game, 75% hunger gives a status effect? That's bullshit. And the lack of quicksaves only exaggerates lack of polish. No game thats large, complex, and varied could ever be polished to perfection. And tighting of difficulty only exposes the issues.
@@checkmate058 the lack of quicksaves isn't because of "lack of polish" it was by design. At least its not as unforgiving as Outward, which they got inspiration from for this mechanic.
@@subsume7904 i think you misread my statement. I said a game large and complex and varied is near impossable to polish and that the lack of quicksaves removes the ability of a player to brute force past issues. Fromsoft are able to remove quicksaves because of the polish and moderate scope of the game. But a bethesda style rpg with a large open world, stealth, crafting, diolog options, factions, lockpicking, and more. There will be shortcomeings in some or all of thoes mechanics. And at higher difficulty any flaw feels like a huge issue.
Idk for sure, but I would assume not,. Every game I can think of with achievements for difficulty can tell if you didn't do the entire playthrough in said difficulty.
Honestly with the sneak sniper the hardest part was spoiler.............. Warden. The rest of the game just felt like hard with chores but in a fun way lol
Really only having to deal with the first main quest without having a bed is the only dumb thing about supernova. It's not hard at all. Because there's no stamina meter, not having fast travel isn't really that much of an issue anyway.
I’m struggling with this difficulty I’m trying to get the medicine cache for that dying guy and I just keep dying am I just shit or do I need better gear?
That's like the very first quests you get? Are you even using TDD to your advantage? Modify your weapon to plasma or corrosion to make kills on Mauruaders easier.
Flaws to Perk points are still a choice in the hardest difficulty? What about Science weapons? were those removed in the hardest playthrough? Because if not then you don't need companions at all. just the 2 handed hammer and the mind scrambler rifle.
The only thing wrong with supernova is companion permadeath. I've tried all the tips for keeping them alive short of making them completely passive in a fight(which almost completely negates one aspect of their utility) but they die way too quickly. My first playthrough was on supernova and most of my companions died right when I got them, so goodbye i guess to all the character development that went into them.
I remember my first playthrough (hard), I blindly accepted every flaw not knowing there were drawbacks to them, It was So hard, every enemy hits like they are from tartarus. It was not fun
I hate everything being a bullet sponge. If I'm easier to kill, they should be too (with the exception of heavy armor targets). If I shoot a person in the soft spot of the head it should kill him with one shot.
I just reached The prison (Tartarus) on supernova, i got there in less then 5 hours by basically killing loads of npc which skipped many quests. I am lvl 15 with my best weapon being a lvl 11 and there is no way i can get through all the enemies there. I was hoping that with intelligence below average, it would allow me to skip the prison by sending the Hope in the sun. Well it works, the game end but you don't get the achievement for supernova lvl that way, you have to do Tartarus... Almost 5 hrs wasted, so sad.
Yeah I just finished that place on Normal lvl 30 and I was dying like crazy. First place in the game I actually died. I was only thinking man this is going to be hell on SuperNova....I wonder if there is a key or ID card to make that part easier?
@@IamChloePrice there is an id you can get, but I'm not entirely sure where it is or which one you need but I had it when I got to that part. It makes the entire place a cake walk if you just run on through everything

cant wait for mods so that modders will make better difficulty settings or atleast more configurable, i really like that you have to eat sleep and drink, companions dying, not so much.
There's a mod on Nexus that lets you tweak supernova difficulty for that exact purpose, but I think it only works on the EGS version. So if you're like me and refuse to support Tencent, then you need to resort to using a trainer (CheatHappens has one that works swimmingly).
played super nova all day yesterday. silent sniper with dead eye assault rifle and euthinasia kit. lone wolf. only problem i had was money....until i duplicated abunch of n-mags and sold them. pry going to finish it after work. its not really that hard....just takes time and being careful
Now that sounds like a build, I had close to the same idea.. I think I'll only bring companions in for skill buffs in passive areas (somewhere I know I won't be fighting)
supernova so far isnt *too hard*. i wish they gave us a quicksave item that costs money bc i have lost some valuable time, but i also quickly learned to prepare well and fight w/ guerilla tactics. i already assumed companions would die asap, so im leaving them on the ship, but i might bring one in later. tbh im not a fan of any of them except maybe the bot, but i dont have him yet.
Silly games like this I really don't like having to manage eating and sleeping and drinking I wish there was just a way to make it harder for combat wise at least because hard isn't difficult enough once you get the science hammer the games ruined
STONEY STONE603 trust me, supernova won’t make the prismatic hammer any less busted. I breezed through supernova (first and last playthrough of this POS), even one-shot the final boss with it. Supernova in this game just tacks on poorly thought out/annoying mechanics. It was still the easiest game I’ve played in years.
There's pacifist speedruns of this game. Just follow those guides if you're just here for the achievement. Completed supernova in 50 mins with no problem.
gameranx released a video on general tips that game doesn't tell you. czcams.com/video/kN1-RXb4C0E/video.html the one at 2:58 says if you fast travel to your ship. The game will auto save on the location you left from. So you can use this to create a temporary save out in the field.
Just started the game. I've never really liked the sleep/eat/etc gameplay mechanics.. well really the idea of "realism" in video games is almost never good and almost always gimmicky. Hard mode is great though
game seems like broken shit to me. can someone explain something. The middle bar below my health bar is water, right? I just drank 5 waters it didn't move, it's still nearly run out and when it does i just start losing health. I am lacking the patience required for this fucking shitty game. this difficulty seems like it was tacked on in the last 5 weeks with no thought behind any of it.

how do you keep your companions from dying early game?
That's the only problem I've run into.
Change your companion behavior
@@BeholderTv Yeah that helped a lot, thank you. Just figured that out a few minutes ago, lol. Thanks anyways.
Does that help? I assume you mean set them to far and passive? I never thought of that. I'm really not struggling with this difficulty but my companions really are!
Ya. Basically until you get better weapons and armor, as well as leadership skills, do not make them fight. Do all the work yourself until they level up
Sound advice! Cheers!
Tip 1 leave your companions on the ship until tartarus(If you have a high charm then you won't need them at tartarus either)
Tip 2 Eat drink and sleep
You can die and will take stat penalties.
Tip 3 speed run it
Get to the ship, talk to Thompson, get Max's book, add him to the crew for the hack bonus, turn the power off to edgewater l, take their power relay, fast travel ro your ship.
There should be option to pick up your companions when they are on the floor. Like 50 sec to heal them.
Get the perk.
@@brotherrabbit5525 oh shit, there is a perk for that ? didnt know that! :D
Yeah but it has 15 min cooldown...
Don't use companions for super nova until you unlock the resurrection talent. Enemies die pretty easily provided you use an element they are weak to (plasma for most organics, shock for robots, corrosive for mantis). I have all the lone wolf talents and just melt everything without much effort.
viable
Yeah I’m thinking I’ll do supernova as my playthrough with the lone wolf perks.. can’t kill em if they ain’t there 👍🏻
Stealth and speech go a long way too.
^Exactly. Don't know why people feel the need to murder everything.
Don't be a baka, listen to maka.
Nice
I enjoyed everything about Supernova besides the companion behaviour. Even changing their behaviour had them dying so often it was just no fun
Keep them far away from you and change the behavior to passive. That works because the enemy focus on you and will ignore your companions. It's a lot tougher though because you will have to do fight by yourself
You can also set them to defensive and they will ignore and be ignored by enemies until you order them to attack
Been watching your videos for ages, only just realised I've not subbed!
Had to rectify that
I kept Acrophobia, drug addiction and food addiction on my Supernova playthrough and barely noticed any downside. Great game
I got exactly the same flaws as you lmao, kinda annoying
Not hard at all. My first run was supernova only. I enjoyed seeing these random people wanting to join me only to die in their very first fight.
Supernova rules usurp base rules, so permadeath and no fast travel from ship.
@@ytubebrowser7560 you're wrong the perk works I've bought my companions back multiple time with that perk.
Didn't have a clue you could mix things in your aid kit, golden tip bro, thanks
There was a tutorial popup screen that appears when you first open that part of the inventory that explains those extra slots.
@@mavoc3094 lol, ikr. None of this video has any tips you dont learn just by PLAYING THE GAME
Wish they would have Made an Hardcore Mode Like in nv which is Split from the difficulty.
That’s an awesome name for a difficulty mode haha
Finding water in this mode is game breaking! Why no permanent water resource on your ship
How do you drink? I drank to things and my waters not increasing at all. About to die of hydration.
Doc Comeau try buying the water from bar
make sure you are not drinking alcohol as that doesn't help your thirst
Hover over a drink and if is says something like sugary drink it will make your thirst meter go up things like soda, juice punch and water work
*me starting ToW for the first time*
“Hmmm. Well I always do no follower/stealth in Thesda games so I’ll do that here”
*tip 2 of this guide*
“Companions are absolutely crucial to your survival in combat”
Fuck me I guess 🤷🏻♂️
I don't see how Supernova is even playable. ALL my companions die (get knocked out) on EVERY fight...on Normal. They would all permanently die on their very first fight in Supernova and I don't see how it would go any other way, they charge in and die or they do nothing at all.
Ill try supernova in the future, but just like you, my team goes down very fast, but im on hard.
Super nova is a breeze even without companions if u tinker your weapons, re assign ur skill points to pass the skill checks, steal always as long as u dont get caught, only keep 2 types of food, adreno, water, i sell any other consumables and mods
i started over to play supernova and 1 single enemy robot killed my companion so i stopped there. screw that
Yeah i started supernova and quit it because its dumb.
I'm playing the outer worlds on ps4 right now will I die faster lol?
Thanks I'm really enjoying my first playthrough
Nice and clear.....u the man 😎
Oh shit you're the guy Ray shouts out all the time! Nice channel.
If you play on normal most of the game and switch to hard at the end, will you get the achievement for playing on hard?
Idk for sure, but I would assume not,. Every game I can think of with achievements for difficulty can tell if you didn't do the entire playthrough in said difficulty.
No. You will get the achievement of the lowest difficulty you played
Ah ok thanks, wanted to make sure
the only game i know that did this was Bioshock not seen it happen since
Willie Last also worked for Wolfenstein the new order but then again it’s a different save system
Honestly with the sneak sniper the hardest part was spoiler.............. Warden. The rest of the game just felt like hard with chores but in a fun way lol
Don't forget to tinker your armor too.
Tip 2 is detable... To me is better a "Lone Wolf" playthrough
Still waiting for an exploit to get this achivement easy cba to do this bullshit difficulty
Really only having to deal with the first main quest without having a bed is the only dumb thing about supernova. It's not hard at all. Because there's no stamina meter, not having fast travel isn't really that much of an issue anyway.
There is a small bed in the same room as the workstation on your ship. You can use that during the first quest.
Oh wow I never even noticed.
Hopefully, be lot better than Fallout 76, New Vegas for the stars...
Supernova more like super hell
I remember my first playthrough (hard), I blindly accepted every flaw not knowing there were drawbacks to them, It was So hard, every enemy hits like they are from tartarus. It was not fun
Thanks love x
Solo, melee, stealth build for all those masochists out there
I love your guides. the best ones out there! Thanks for your hard work!
The Hungry Troll there are numerous endings but I heard you can speech check the worst of it? Not entirely sure on the how..
@@IamChloePrice there is an id you can get, but I'm not entirely sure where it is or which one you need but I had it when I got to that part. It makes the entire place a cake walk if you just run on through everything
@@echodec Ok thanks cause I'm on SuperNova difficulty rn about halfway through and there is no way I will be able to make it through that part without the ID. Guess I will google to see where you can find it, if you found out lmk thanks.
@@IamChloePrice I think you can get it from asking the person who calls you before you leave the ship to send you an id
how do i unlock the bed on supernova? don't have access to it rn
There is a bed opposite the workbench on your ship, between two shelving units. It has a green cover
@@bigbeatmanifesto6517 holy shit...................this whole time I was getting mad because I thought I had to complete a mission to unlock the captains quarters to sleep, my character has like 20% left on the sleep bar. the negative stats are massive.

Do the supernova and hard trophies stack?
Thanks Maka, after my 1st playthrough on normal, this will be Very Helpful
cant wait for mods so that modders will make better difficulty settings or atleast more configurable, i really like that you have to eat sleep and drink, companions dying, not so much.
There's a mod on Nexus that lets you tweak supernova difficulty for that exact purpose, but I think it only works on the EGS version. So if you're like me and refuse to support Tencent, then you need to resort to using a trainer (CheatHappens has one that works swimmingly).
@@liesdamnlies3372 im on xbox gamepass for pc , i wouldnt get epic launcher if they paid me to install it, thanks, ill check nexus.
in new vegas hardcore mode i never used companions because of perma death so instead i became a bringer of death on my own, can i do that here?
you can go on your own yes. And there are perks that gives you more dmg when you travel alone.
How do you revive companions?
Does companions death affect other companions ?
Leevi Heiskanen I’d imagine it’d be referenced by the crew but no actual negative effects.. maybe it’ll be linked to a flaw tho?
@@Wanderingwalker-ke6mg ok I got Parvati killed at the start of the game, and looks like everyone just forgot she ever existed
Leevi Heiskanen wow.. it was worth a go 🤷♂️😂
played super nova all day yesterday. silent sniper with dead eye assault rifle and euthinasia kit. lone wolf. only problem i had was money....until i duplicated abunch of n-mags and sold them. pry going to finish it after work. its not really that hard....just takes time and being careful
Now that sounds like a build, I had close to the same idea.. I think I'll only bring companions in for skill buffs in passive areas (somewhere I know I won't be fighting)
supernova so far isnt *too hard*. i wish they gave us a quicksave item that costs money bc i have lost some valuable time, but i also quickly learned to prepare well and fight w/ guerilla tactics. i already assumed companions would die asap, so im leaving them on the ship, but i might bring one in later. tbh im not a fan of any of them except maybe the bot, but i dont have him yet.
thb i wish companions used the inhaler on their own = /
Silly games like this I really don't like having to manage eating and sleeping and drinking I wish there was just a way to make it harder for combat wise at least because hard isn't difficult enough once you get the science hammer the games ruined
Remember you can pretty much skip the last boss of the game with the right skills.
So, can't we unequip followers helmets?! I equipes one and can't have it off from the follower.
you simply must equip them with different item to remove helmet.
@@thecookies6109 So we can't remove it without equipping other one?!? Feels so dumb.
You can go to the settings and turn companion helmets appearance off.

Pizza 4breakfast doesn't like eating? You've got the wrong name then buddy!

Stealth and melee works better for me tbh, I find it to be more reliable
Will earning the supernova trophy apply to the hard trophy as well?

You guys have replaced her armour right?
Prioritise giving your companions your best gear. You can out skill your enemies, your crew members can’t
There's pacifist speedruns of this game. Just follow those guides if you're just here for the achievement. Completed supernova in 50 mins with no problem.
gameranx released a video on general tips that game doesn't tell you.

the one at 2:58 says if you fast travel to your ship. The game will auto save on the location you left from.
So you can use this to create a temporary save out in the field.
This game is alot to take in initially
No new game+ ? That kind of sucks!
Just started the game. I've never really liked the sleep/eat/etc gameplay mechanics.. well really the idea of "realism" in video games is almost never good and almost always gimmicky. Hard mode is great though
