To the day I die I will never forget standing on the Kippax watching the cross-field ball from Lake then the absolutely unbelievable first time cross to the far post where Hinchcliffe finished it off with that glorious header. I hope David realises just how important memories such as those are to City fans. I have incredible respect for how he is raising awareness of such horrific abuse. I truly wish him happiness and peace for the rest of his days.
Thanks for another super vlog Ian

Amazing Ian, I think I mentioned on here that I use to live just down the road from David in Eccles, and I use to speak to him somtimes, I wish I would have known what he went through, because I went through the same, in fact like he said probably worst, incredible to think, there we both were chatting on the street, and both having that deep in the back of our minds well done David for coming out with it, you are not a victim you like me are a survivor. I did the same two years ago, and now work with the independent investigation into child sexual abuse, and it's very rewarding, knowing it might help people like us.

A great Vlog Ian always admired David as a player but he transcends football as a good man who came through a terrible ordeal as a young lad. The evil man who perpetrated is now where he he should have been years ago. Well done Ian and David on a very good interview looking forward to the next part.

I remember up in Macclesfield as a 15 year old playing football in about 1989 with lads my own age. We were challenged to play the young players of an actual club (either Stoke or Crewe, I can't remember).
We went to some football ground in Macclesfield (not Moss Rose I don't think) to meet the other team. The first thing I noticed was that half their team were an absolute bag of nerves. That made no sense to me since it was only a semi competitive game between a bunch of youngsters we'd arranged ourselves. But it came to light that they were afraid that their coach wouldn't like it because he wasn't aware it was happening. Their players were angry, sullen and very irritable. From our team's point of view it all looked a bit sad. It was just going to be a kick around - they should lighten up. It seemed illogical that lads who all love football would fear their coach. To be honest, their coach had not yet been informed we were going to play against each other, and my guess was that he, and his young team must be be arrogant and conceited about their own self importance. That was just my impression. We were a team playing for fun in our plain clothes. They, in their proper football strip were far too serious. Our team was just some local lads cobbled together at short notice, looking for chance to test ourselves against a more formal set up.
One of their boys called the coach to get his permission to play us. We couldn't believe they would hold up an impromptu game we could have already got underway, in the holidays, just to get his consent. Obviously this was very frustrating for those of us who had been informed that we were required only for an informal practice match. We weren't even sure it would definitely happen. But as we had travelled from our local recreational park, and everyone was up for it and present, nobody could understand why we should have to wait any longer.
After their team initially attempted to call it all off, at our insistence, they contacted whoever it was they needed to call (their coach), and shortly after Barry Bennell turned up with a look of thunder on his face. Their players were apologising profusely to him, some even shaking and crying. He would lash out physically at them with added threats. He called it all off there and then, all the while chastising his young charges and telling them they were in trouble.
That was was when some of the lads on our side, including some fairly hefty specimens, started questioning this bell end, and how he held sway over what was only going to be a friendly kick around. As this was happening some of their players started begging us to stop arguing with him and just let it lie.
Frankly we had only just started giving a piece of our minds to this twat. Undeterred, we told him where to go. His response was to round up his most loyal players to confront us about how we were treating him. A bit of pushing and shoving ensued before Bennell slinked off to make a call from the local telephone booth. To this day I could swear he summoned the help of a fully adult sized, but young Gary Speed. We were not much in the mood to take on such an angry athletic, and well built man in what was developing towards an increasingly unpredictable but probable scrap between the two teams.
At this time we were wondering how the hell a football game was becoming a full on skirmish with threats of violence.
One of their players was finding it all too much and had become distraught. He confided that their coach was a perverted bully, who would fiddle with some of them. Gaining sympathy with all of us, we assured him that we wouldn't allow this to continue.
As shouting and threats continued, curtains in the area started twitching. Word spread around what was happening. Then as more dangerous fighting broke out it all started to concentrate towards the heavier hitters, and closer to Bennell.
That's when he jumped in his car and drove off. Reports were made to the police but Bennell left the North-West. He was a complete cowardly asshole who glared at people,he ordered them around, he made threats, but he couldn't even back it up to bunch of adolescent local kids.
It's just awful to discover he carried on his antics. For one day we thought we'd rid the place of his presence, shaken him up, and exposed his criminal behaviour. He went to ground and wasn't seen again. Or at least, personally I heard nothing more until the media finally wrote it up etc.
That he was able to continue even after the police had been informed is a disgrace.
On a side note, I never knew David White was implicated in all this. It is such a pity how it has affected his life and career. He was one of the most impressive players of that time, and i believe would have played as an impact substitute late on for England with his incredible pace on the wing had he maintained his form.
