    one TIP: if you rule a region, don't take its disc - just place your token on top of the region's disc ;). I think it's easier to see who rules the region this way, especially in multi-player setting.

    Great playthrough! There is one rule you missed though. There is a special rule for radicalize when there’s a Dominance Check in the market:
    If there is a dominant coalition Wakhan will choose the cheapest Patriot loyal to the dominant coalition, then the cheapest card with the most Army and/or Road impact icons, or, if no coalition is dominant, she will chose the cheapest card with the most spy and/or tribe impact icons. If there is a tie, use the highest card number.

    This game looks really heavy, but totally worth learning. Thank you for this playthrough and I hope when John Company 2nd Edition comes out you will consider doing a teach on that because it looks even heavier than Pax Pamir and I really can’t wrap my head around it 😆 Yours and Colin’s style of teachings are so helpful for me in understanding complex games.

      You better believe I made sure I was on the list for a review copy of John Company, so I will definitely cover it. I’m hoping the Cole/Ricky combo works magic again :)
      Interestingly enough, Oath is on my table for this week :)

    At 32:31 when a dominance check is in the market, the radicalize action without supplementary instruction it works a little different. If there is a dominant coalition, but he would not win if he buys the dom.check, it will radicalize the cheapest patriot card, and if there is no dominant coalition, than will radicalize the cheapest card what gives the most spies/tribes. And if these two special actions are not an option, only then will follow the regular radicalize action.

    Great video. I liked the quick pace of everything--the explanations, editing, etc. Something I caught: at 45:02 Wakhan should've discarded the Karakul Sheep instead of the Herati Bandits because it is a non-leveraged card.

    Holy cow! Wow! This is one if the absolut best vedeos I have seen! You have such a good tempo! Almost all other video makers take 10min to do 1 action becouse they get stuck in describing a bunch of unusefull stuff.
    Very good tenpo, clear and to the point!
    Creeds to you!
    Considering to check out the Root Clockwork bots? They are the best solo experience I have had. They mimic real players in such a good way that its actually doesent feel like substitute.
    You can have fully bot games and after each round every action would have made sence.

      Viktor, thank you so much, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
      I actually already have a root playthrough on the channel, but it was with the better bot project rules (before the official bots came out). I plan to do a second playthrough and a full review of solo/coop root in the next month or so.

    At 32:00 - You rule Transcaspia (since 21:00), so Wakhan should have paid you 1 rupee Bribe, to play the Transcaspia card.
    At 45:14 - Wakhan discarded a Leveraged card, so she should have lost 2 rupees.

    How would you estimate the skill to luck ratio? Some reviewers say there's a lot of luck while others think it's far more skillful than luck based when played at a high level.

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před rokem +1

      I wouldn’t call myself an expert by any stretch, but luck didn’t stand out a ton to me in this one. It seems like more of a factor in my limited plays of John Company so far

  • @DanielBRLima

    Excellent video.
    A little doubt: at 45:49 you perform 2 two movement using bonus action from economic card, but the current favored suit is militar..... Is this a legal movement which you did?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 2 lety +1

      I believe at that moment I used my second action for the turn to use the 2 move from the economic card. Then I proceeded to use some free military cards because of the favored suit. So what seems to be the problem with that? :)

    • @DanielBRLima
      @DanielBRLima Před 2 lety

      @@OneStopCoopShop thanks for answering ;-)
      In the video at this time you mention you will take a "non free action" on a political card which has two moves icon (two flags).
      That's the reason of my question... You don't have military cards on your Court and the favourite suit is military, and anyway you perform a twice movement.... I think this is an illegal move... But I may be completely wrong since I'm just learning the game... I just have two plays against Warkhan...
      But anyway, I thank you so much for the video and for your time.... If you can answer this for me I'll be very grateful ;-)

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 2 lety +1

      The two flags count as one of your two actions for the turn. The fact that it’s 2 flags doesn’t change the fact that it only takes one of your actions. It is a stronger card for that very reason.
      Or am I still misunderstanding your point?

    • @DanielBRLima
      @DanielBRLima Před 2 lety

      @@OneStopCoopShop man, thank you so much for your time and patience....hahahahaha
      The two movements bonus action is in an economic card, right? So you are supposed to use this bonus action just in case the economic suit is favored...and it is not the case because the favored suit is military and you don't have any military card.... That's the point....

    • @OneStopCoopShop
      @OneStopCoopShop  Před 2 lety +1

      So to explain further, you have 2 actions on your turn you can use for anything: playing a card, buying a card, using actions on cards in your court. Additionally you can use any number of cards in the favored suit for their actions for free.
      On the turn in question, I used one of my 2 normal actions to activate the double flag symbol on the ecnonomic card.
      Additionally, for free, I activated the actions on several of my military cards.
      So the icons on the bottom of that economic card are not “bonus actions”, or something you need to have favor to use. They are simply an action OPTION that I can utilize with one of my two actions each turn.
      If economics was favored, I could use those flags as a free action, because they are on an economic card.

      David Ko certainly a good deal simpler to not run the AI, though again after a few plays it’s simple.
