100% As a reader of the books I just couldn’t get behind the Tom Cruise adaptations. The tv series really does it justice.

Too much treble in Cruise's voice, for one.

Tom Cruz was the primary Producer and held the Movie Rights to the Reacher novels at the time he cast himself in the role.

Movies are an adaptation of the books they are based on. The Tom cruise version didn’t push the huge physical presence but rather the mysterious dark presence, mental intensity and that fact that trained combat prowess does not require someone of huge physical size to be deadly. I liked the fact that the Cruise “Reacher” could just blend in and disappear. A ghost in the system. That’s not something Ritchson could do. He will always stand out and couldn’t just easily disappear into a crowd. I liked and appreciate both adaptations for different reasons. Ritchson’s Reacher if not careful could come off a little more 2 dimensional.

The Cruise movies were fine but were very different than the character in the original novels. Something that strengthened the story lines.

I think Cruise was the producer of those films.

Most average people can break bones and zip ties. Technique is everything. The current middleweight MMA champ would absolutely destroy Rickman easily.

I always wondered why they used Tom Cruise for such a role... Lee Child's books always describe Reacher as being huge. Cruise may be agile, fast, but... not huge.

A capable action star for sure, but not the type that befits Jack Reacher

I've never watched the Tom Cruise movies. He's just not believable as a tough guy. Just watched Season 1 of Reacher. Ritchson is awesome in this show! Tom Cruise can go back to his closet!

I disagree. ASK Bruce Lee how much size matters. The new Jack reacher is good, but there was no problem with the Tom Cruise Jack reacher..

No a brick sh*t house is a woman not a man.

Since when? Originally came from the phrase , "built like a brick shit house". Probably mostly used to describe a man, but could be used for a woman too. Equal opportunity phrase ... not one that could ever be used to describe Tom Cruise though.
