REVIEW: THAI Airways B777-300ER First Class, London Heathrow Airport to Bangkok

  • It has been more than 5 years since my last flight with THAI in first class so I was really looking forward to it. I used 195,000 SAS miles for this trip flying first class on the outbound from London Heathrow Airport to Bangkok with THAI and business class on the inbound (with EVA Air). Service was exceptional on this flight and the staff all seemed enthusiastic. Dining was also very good with the usual caviar and champagne. Sadly, wifi was not complimentary. Overall, a great flight ;)

    I'll be on this flight in business class later this month (second time this year). Biz class on Thai is excellent in my experience. About time they ditched the masks and gloves though. Crew always super friendly and efficient though. Catering top notch.

      I’ve also flown Thai business class and found the seats and food great, and the crew friendly. On my recent EVA Airways (business) and Philippine Airlines (economy) flight , the crew were still using masks and gloves. It could be an Asia thing.

    Booking first class on Thai Air is risky. The royal family has absolute priority, with no advance reservation required, even if they show up a few minutes before takeoff (it's a large group of hundreds of Thais, not just royalties). If there are no first class seats available, Thai Air kick out as many first class passengers as necessary to make room. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. You're never sure your first class seat is guaranteed until after takeoff.

    • @TheFilipinoTraveler
      @TheFilipinoTraveler  Před 11 dny

      I actually flew with a member of the Royal Family from Tokyo to Bangkok in THAI first class in 2018. I guess I got lucky as it was a small group and I believe those who booked in F class stayed in the first cabin. I was moved from my original seat 1A to 1K then to 3K. Two of the 9 seats in F class were not occupied. Felt lucky to have flown first class on that flight ;) Thanks for watching!

      @@TheFilipinoTravelerThe lavatory facilities on Emirates A380s is the best feature of Emirates First Class, to me. I find the cabin itself a bit full of suites - 14, I believe. The aisle seats (2k for me) feel a little confining because of the curvature of the fuselage, particularly with the doors closed. The Arabic mezze is always top notch and some of their main courses are very nice.
      This cabin doesn’t appear particularly dated, to me, but maybe a bit bland. At least it’s light and the seats look very comfortable. I like the fact that the seats are parallel, unlike the reverse herringbone that British Airways uses. The footwells aren’t narrow on BA, but these appear even wider. All in all, I like the lay out, but doors would be nice - like Saudia’s suites, which are very similar to this but with sliding doors.
      The food to me looked OK, but I’m not really a fan of caviar. The steak main course looked like there was something missing. From the menu description, I probably would have selected the chicken Kiev. The dessert and cheese looked pretty good - a sample of each would have been my choice.😉
      Nice review - I flew Thai first class from NRT to Bangkok years ago when the seats were large recliners with footrests (on a 747, I think) and they didn’t have TVs. Today, it’s much nicer (although the catering is less extravagant).
