There’s 7 classes for 25B AIT
Foundations (5 weeks)
Software (2 weeks)
CCNA 1 (3 weeks)
CCNA 2 (3 weeks)
Security Fundamentals (2 weeks)
CPN (1-2 weeks)
Army Net (1-2 weeks)
I’m graduating next week so this is how I know and as long as you try to listen and stay awake in class and study, you’ll be fine. Literally only the people that don’t try fail. If you fail a class and fail the retake then you’ll get sent to RTP where you’ll wait who knows how long to get in that class again, wait can be from 2 weeks to 3 months depending on the class. Good luck.
What If I already have my entry lvl certs, A+ and Sec+, would I be able to skip intro stuff and work on the CCNA?
Eric Dean I think the only class that you might be able to skip is probably Foundations if you score high enough on a test that sees where you’re at. If you do get skipped ahead tho i mean then you’ll be waiting for a spot in a class for a while probably so it probably won’t be much of a difference in time you’ll be there. You’ll have to ask around with the teachers honestly or talk to the boss of the campus, he walks around in classes most of the time, and see what they can do for you. They’ll probably let you try to get more certs too. The ones they offered us to take there was the CCENT and Network Plus. But anyway it’s possible to get skipped up but I doubt you’ll skip more than 1 class.
Bmb.Jonathan Been in IT 5 years, I guess it's always good to revisit the basics. Thanks for info.
Eric Dean no problem
Did you have background in IT? How would it be for someone with no IT experience at all? Do you know any one who passed and didn’t know a thing about IT?
This was really helpful, I just signed and I leave Thursday and Friday for MEPs, I ship out for basic in June 2019, I’m excited to go into 25B. My dad did IT too, he did it in the Air Force, my older brother does IT in the civilian world so I’m super excited to carry on my family tradition.
Donnie Bell What day? I leave on Tuesday for Fort Jackson. In an 25b Mos.
What type of education required
@Ronnie Carroll can you just leave if you don't like it?
@@Getaneh188 Oh boy.....
I just decided I think I’m interested in 25b I haven’t even talked to a recruiter yet but I was wondering if you could give me some insight on requirements to get into IT like a certain asvab score?
I just been assigned the same MOS. Swore in this past Tuesday. I'm excited. Your videos have helped me A LOT!!! I'm 32 (an older recruit) but I feel imma do fine. I've done the research (thanks to your vids, and other) and it seems like A VACATION compared to my life now. Thank you for posting then info!
mark parker how was the vacation ? Lol
Hey I'm going to be swearing in soon and I am 30. How was you experience as an older recruit?
@RKB1989 good to know! I’m turning 39 in a few weeks and a little nervous to be the grandma of the unit lol
@@andrewmcneil528so I’m 29 and just graduated basic training, my mos is 25B , being an old recruit wasn’t so bad but you do stand out since majority of trainees are 18 to 24, however you’ll also have 27 and older even 40, so go for it if you haven’t! I recommend it!
How did it all go in the Army and 25B career field?
I've been binge watching your videos, but I did not expect you to have a video on 25B. Thank you. It was very informative.
Yepp!
Thank you for this. I was looking into which MOS I wanted to do having a computer and tech background 25b stood out the most to me.
I’ve been watching your videos for a while. And today I selected 25B as my MOS. Thank you for your help.
Was it hard to qualify on asvab to get 25b?
@@malachimorgan1440 Not really, but if you want to make the army as a career I don’t recommend you to take this MOS. It’s almost impossible to promote. I had to change to 25Q to be able to promote to SGT.
Leaving my combat mos for this mos! Life transition skill!
this just gave me that push to decide this MOS. thank you.
I am leaving the Marine Corps as a field radio operator soon. Will be switching to the Army for 25B.
I’m switching from a 31b
Thank you for this info!!! This is the only place I have been able to find this info
Subnetting is a bit difficult, where it really gets hard is CCNA
You learn subnetting during network+ because your gonna need it during CCNA
@matt ward - thanks for this video! I’m currently an IT guy that is waiting to enlist in the Army (after the corona virus blows over) and I’m considering doing this as my MOS. Appreciate the info!
Lots of questions for you: Gaming system: Do you recommend bringing a laptop vs. desktop? Once you get to Phase V, can you get around on a longboard, or is it strictly walking everywhere? Can you bring your own pillow or an extra blanket to AIT? After AIT graduation, how soon do you head off to Airborne? If you don't go to Airborne school, do you get time off after graduation before heading to your duty station? Sorry so many. I haven't found much "inside" information about Fort Gordon. Thanks!
YOURE A LIFE SAVER.
I just picked this job today. So glad I found this video. It helped me out a lot. I'm leaving November 11th to go to ft. Jackson for basic and ft gordon. I'm excited because I live like 15-20 minutes from fort gordon.
Kami Vega I go to AiT there in Feb
Do u guys get certification from AIT ???
And how are test? Open book??
What are the asvab scores did you have to qualify?
Yeah I chose 25B and I have no IT experience. But I'm just taking classed in my school to learn at least the basics of computers and networking. This video was helpful in terms of classes and things you do on a daily basis. Thank you
+Joseph Ocampo You're welcome, and yeah just if you study the topics of the classes you will be good to go.
They'll teach you everything.
did you do okay even though you didnt have much IT experience? i am trying to learn same as you- basics of computers and networking...but howd it go for you with not a ton of IT experience? thank u in advance i know this post is old figured id take my chances haha
I'm leaving to Fort Benning on February 11, and then to Gordon in April. I'm super excited and your video helped a lot thank you.
Jamelle Messinger where did you get stationed
I took this stuff in college so this stuff will come smooth to me
I'm a former 25V, but there are a lot of similarities between the 2 AIT environments.
I ship for basic then that in November. I’m ecstatic yet very nervous about all this. Can’t wait to start this.
Thank you Matt for sharing the knowledge. It is very helpful. My Son is interested in 25D Cyber Network Defender, but there are no vacancies, so his next preference is 35G and 25B. Going with MOS 25 is better to keep his options open for 25D or better, or take 35 G as that is his second preference and vacancies are there in National Guard for this?
luv how im getting my security+ next year since my high school pays for all those certifications
Awesome! Good luck, Sec+ is the fairly tough. It combines knowledge of all the different classes I mentioned.
Sad to put my days as a 12b behind me...but I’m pumped to reclass into this!
I'm already in a training program for my A+ and N+ certs, Was looking into this as a start off for experience but it might be redundant to have to go through another A+ course immediately after obtaining it.
I'm excited for my son on his new career with the army hes excited hes finishing basic training. Is my son said he loves being in the army. My son is 18 I hope he does well. When I joined I was a combat engineer very different very strict at Fort Leonard wood. I hope Fort Gordon does not have too many distractions.
Thanks for this video. I'm a junior in hoghschool, signing up for delayed entry. I'm qualified for 25B on the ASVAB, and that's probably what I'll pick. Video was very helpful and answered questions I've had for a long while.
Magik Gaming Same as you man. I'm a junior and I signed up for 25B through Delayed Entry
Magik what you get on the ASVAB?
Can you spell out the types of classes you mentioned? like A+ and etc...I'm shipping out in a couple months for 25B, but I barely have any experience in IT...I have 2-3 months free before going so wondering if there's any class I can take or study material/books/online that I can study before going just so I won't be buried with information with no time to study?
Did I miss the weekend schedule? Sorry. I have been binging your videos lol. My MOS is 25B, I have to pass MEPS first.
How does MOS reclass work? Do you join a fresh outta BCT unit or seperate?
Time in service: 4yr,2mo.
MOS:92A
I'm on VBL from BCT, I was JW do these military classes transfer to a college credits? 4+ weeks left at Ft. Jackson then to Ft. Gordon to become a 25B.
Thank you for your video is very informative.
You said 5 weeks for the first class and I’m shook😂 I’m reclassing soon and I’m going to a weird 7 week AIT at a random national guard camp
Excellent video.
I made it to my AIT for 25B. It's a totally different world from basic. I don't know what I expected, but I wasn't expecting it to be so lax.
Delta 551st or Echo 551st? I know HQ CO Alpha 551st should've been deactivated for 25B.
alexis ramirez Delta
@@desertlightning4200 I'm delta 551
Not sure how it is now since Drills are back in AIT.
Ramirez it ain't bad at all, nothing like basic training drill seargents
Hey, I am planning to join this MOS, I was wondering if it was a hard Mos to get into? Do you remember when you went to Meps if they gave you another test for computers?
A+ AND CCNA AND security +? That’s a very lucrative MOS
I am considering 25S ..Thanks for the video
About how far into 25B AIT do you get your follow on assignment ? Airborne , permanent station etc...
Do you know anybody in 25N? Im wondering what are some the differences in AIT
What are weekends like in the Military? Do you get your weekends or do you have to work/have obligations?
do you go to 25 bravo soon as you get out of boot camp training and how does it work if you're a pc gamer do they have good internet can I bring a desktop or a lab top
How are the test like. Open book or your have to do a lot of memorizing?
How much PT did you had per week approximately? And I was told that for basic I should bring as little as possible, will I be able to have someone else give me my laptop and some other personal items after basic but before AIT?
I'm in the enlistment process, just want to know what should I bring and what to excpect especially with all thats is going on with the corona virus and such. Would help me alot!
Any advice for someone going in as a 25S? I don't really know much about the mos and am unable to find any info regarding the training. Many blessings .
Did you get those civilian certs? if so which ones?
If I already have security+ going into 25B do I need to take that class or can I just submit my cert and skip it?
Hi Matt, I am a civilian who works in IT. I have a kid on the way and am struggling with how I will be able to provide for my family. Looking for jobs but not having luck. I have a bachelor's degree in Cyber Security and Computer networking. I don't have any certifications yet but am studying for my security + certification.
Is joining the Army a good option for me? I just want to be able to provide for my family.
Im about to start CompTIA, A+, and A++ at my community college. How would this help me or how far would this get me in the training?
Do you know anything about 25u or 25q? And will this mos help me after the army??
What’s the barracks room situation like? One to a room? 2 to a room? 4 to a room? (Had to do that once training in pcola). Also, if I end up doing this training, I’ll be a E5 so do higher ranks get more privileges? And how often or were you allowed at all to go off base for libo? Good informational video.
Bro, you'll be MOS-T, permanent party privalages
I'm leaving for bootcamp October 28th. I enlisted as a 25q multi channel transmission system operator maintainer. Anyway you could possibly tell me about ait for this mos?
I believe they just added a week long ftx after foundations, i think this is going to replace cpn and army net
Thanks for the video, I really appreciate it. When you get these certifications, can you use them after the military to get a job? Or are they only for the military? Thanks again 😀
You didn't talk about the certification
I am leaving the Marine Corps as a field radio operator soon. Will be switching to the Army for 25B.
I’m headed to AIT in Fort Gordon in 2 days and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to have my phone and switch with me is it for sure that I’ll be able to have those items with me?
Do you have to give presentations or anything like that?
Thanks for the video!!! Do you have the opportunity to get all your certs while in AIT?
Puggy Puggs Yes you do! But I’d suggest going for your certs when you’re in Foundation or Software class or after completing all classes bc once you get to CCNA1-2 and Security, you will not have time to do ANYTHING else but study
Gotta luv the Chef Boyardees!
I'm just happy I can play my xbox
Just graduated today 01/31/19 E co 3-60th RIVER RAIDERS!!!! Going to fort Gordon now
Where can you find these failure rates? I did a search on google but it only came up with forums and other boards where they asked for the failure rates for particular MOS-es. I'm particularly interested in signing up for 91F which is small arms/artillery repairer.
I'm assuming high. CCNA alone is not a walk in the park. And that's just of the things you learn there
Will i have time to myself ? I want to join 25B but i really want to go to school and earn a degree in military . Is this a job where there are long hours or will i have a “9-5” type schedule ? I dont mind working after a few times a month or will that be almost every week? Pls help, anyone 🙏🏽
At ait you won’t have much time honestly, I’m a 25B right now and about to graduate. Our free time doesn’t usually start till after 1800 or 6 pm formation and the formation could take like an hour too depending on how disciplined your company is and how much info they’ll have to put out. Then lights out is at 2100 or 9pm on schooldays. You actually do get some time on the weekends tho because first formation isn’t until 0900 for us and lights out is at 2300 or 11pm. During that time it’s usually all yours unless you get assigned to do cleaning duties or have to attend some mandatory briefings which happens sometimes. There’s still more formations throughout the day but they don’t usually take much time.
I'm a 25b as well... Fort Benning here I come
Any transitions during y’all time with there? I hope they were left alone lol
What’s the difference between this MOS - 25B, 17C and 35Q? I want a cyber job and I want something that will translate over into the civilian world easily. Right now I’m currently in school and my major is IT with a focus in Cyber Security. I’ve read on the army website that with 17C, after you complete AIT you’ll be able to get your A+, Network+, Security+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CISSP, &
CCNA. 25B or 35Q doesn’t specifically say that in their descriptions. So I’m just trying to understand the pros and cons of each of those MOS’s.
25B you learn A+ stuff, Net+ stuff, Sec+ stuffy, CCNA stuff. Its fairly easy to get the certs after AIT because you were taught it.
Im very exciting to get this mos! Im already Cisco certified but i would also like to do Sec+ and A+. So this is a good MOS for me
Do they give textbooks or is it all PowerPoint
I’m an E5 transferring over to this mos trying to get ready for the training
Leaving for fort leonard wood Missouri on March 19th for basic, I'mma 25B wish me luck 😂
Bradley Powers i’m in south carolina for basic

How would this translate to different certifications?
What is WTX/WTA or FTX?
So when you take the classes A+ CCNA Sec+; Do you recieve the certs?
Yee
Is it easy to get promoted in this MOS? I hear that some MOS' are difficult to get promoted in. What do you think?
25B points are pretty high compared to other MOS's
Do you leave with CompTIA A+ or security +?
So if me and my spouse are doing the same job, we'll be in class together? Being able to help each other study? Also, what would be the hours for this job? And as far as a battle buddy, what if we wanted to hang out with our spouse?
I am a 25 b most leaving Jan. 7 fort Benning basic training also. How bad is the basic training at fort Benning? Your videos are awesome!
If I’m re-classing and going to AIT as 25B. Will I get a different treatment. As in more leniency. Trying to see because when I was going through my OSUT we had reclasses there and they were allowed to basically do anything unless we were training.
Im still undecided on what mos to get, i narrow my results to
91b
89b
88h
92w
25b
92r
92m
Leave for Benning the 15th of September also a 25b
Does this video also work with 25u?
Should I be worried if I don't have a tech background going into this mos?
Dont worry about that just do it. You fail do it again
I’m trying to do 17c, do you need clearance for 25b?
Do you get weekends off when you get stationed?
I'm considering joining the army and this seems like the perfect field for me. Although I was hoping to do something more directly in line with network defense, something like the hackers u see the military movies but I couldn't find a field like that. Quick question, how difficult is it to get the ASVAB scores u need to go into 25 fields?
+code I can't answer that question. Just do the best you can and if you make it you are good. To me it was easy but others barely made the required score. But that's more like the new cyber branch that you are looking at. It's more like programming than anything and is much more of what you seem to be looking for.
Is there a lot of coding in 25B or is it mostly hardware work?
code Mainly hardware work. I got a 64 on my asvab and qualified for it. I say get higher than a 55 and you'll be good
I am currently in 25B AiT and we do absolutely no coding in any of our classes. We train in hardware, network, security, etc.
25D is the MOS you want.
I'm hoping to get this MOS
If I already have the certs listed (earned as a civilian prior to enlisting), do I have to test out? Are the test out exams the actual cert exams (ICND1 and ICND2, etc)?
You will be required to take every class and remain for all the days of training like everyone else. The tests at the end of each class are different and easier then the certificate equivalents. You have the ability to obtain the certs while in training at Ait if you want.
I'm confused brah what's your MOS? Your currently my fav army CZcamsr. You get into detail and I understand fully. Just curious what's your MOS? And your opinion on 25B. Cause that's the MOS I'm focused on.
I'm a 25B!
Shootemup89 what did you get on the ASVAB when you took it? Need info on score needed on AFQT to at least qualify for 25B. I know line score I'm jw
Jesse Holley i scored a 90 and i qualify, if that helps.
I have my CCENT, and I'm located in chicago, but I'll be enlisting in brooklyn for 25B or 25S.. i have no idea what to expect.. I failed my CCNA last year by 5 fucking points... you think I'll be able to qualify for this? I'm trying to start my IT career and I think this is the way to go.
I am currently enlisting 25B is what I am looking to do. I have a DUI on my record from a little over 4 years a go. My recruiter is currently telling me that I won't be able to, I have only spoken to him once. I'm supposed to bring my paperwork from the courts
in. What he is telling me is to take a different job once I'm in and at contact renewal I can do 25B. What is your take on this. I know my situation, but don't want to be lied to if I can still go for it with the DUI.
You will have to get that waived but I would ask another recruiter to be safe. It could definitely be true that you can't get 25B with a DUI. If that's true then yes you could possibly switch after your first contract. As long as it's something your unit would allow.
How you doing? Give me some spill on how prior service/reclass prior service treated?
So i have 1 major question, can our family send us our laptops and games from home?
Yah you can have electronics as long as you can secure it inside your wall locker, you may also need to sign something stating the value and type of valuable objects you have in case they are stolen.
I’ve finished the 25B course!
Jeremy Brock where did you get stationed as your first duty station?
Right now I'm in the 15th signal brigade Delta 551 for 25B loving it so far
I will be going to basic training in Jan then off the 25b AIT. What advice would you have for Me?
What do you enjoy about 25B? How long have you been in so far?
pouremilee Fort Gordon is a huge relief from basic training. Only advice would be to make sure you don’t slack off in class and pay attention / work on and study the material from your room when you have the opportunity. Gladiators lead the way
Delta 551!!! Yessir
I have been looking into every class given in 25B AIT, and I can't seem to get a solid answer. Does any of these classes require the learning of any Code Language? And if so, which language(s)?
No code languages at all!
Do you get weekends off or go to class everyday? Did 6 years as an MP, thinking about doing this.
Typically weekends off
Where in the video to you talk about certifications? I skipped through some the irrelevant information.
What If I already have my entry lvl certs, A+ and Sec+, would I be able to work on higher certs like CCNA?
If you already have the certs then yes you can work on others. Not all certifications are offered at AIT but afterwords you can take certifications and get reimbursed by the Gov if you pass
I am going to 25B soon. Regarding the question above, does that mean I need to take the test again? And what do they do with people who already have certification? Thanks in adnvance for your respond
Heading to a recruiter in a few hours to talk about becoming a 25b.
There any transitions? How was their stay there?
Im joining National Guard as a 25b. Will i be able to earn my A+ certification while in AIT?
You will have the opportunity, yes
Me too!
How are you doing now?
Do you actually get the certs for A+ and CCNA?
You can actually get them yes
Hi, I have a question. I am a green card holder and my civilian job is network engineer, I have bachelor degree and I have CCIE certification. I heard this job is not open to non-citizen, but I also told that I will become a citizen once I graduate from basic training. So my question is can I change my MOS to 25B or 25N? Is it common for a qualified solider to change his MOS in the beginning of AIT? Thank you
No you can't change it until you've been in for at least 2 years. The only way for you to change MOS during AIT is if you fail, but even then the MOS is picked for you.
