It does make you wonder what would happen to the odds and ends like this if there wasn't companies willing to package and sell them. I'm all for it myself. Supermarkets got away with ploughing crops back into the ground if they felt it wasn't what they perceived as what the customers wanted for far too long. Struggling families have a lifeline with this sort of product.
I think it's great for a struggling parent. I was brought up by a single parent (my Dad) in the 80s and we had no money and I remember having fish finger and chips with a nice blob of ketchup 😁 I still have it now every so often. Love it, especially putting the fish fingers on a butty!
That's a really good price for what you get and it's also far better than food that doesn't look perfect going to waste. More stores should be doing things like this when cash is tight..or tbh in general.
Years ago Gaz when i was unemployed after my dad died in 2008 i had an independent frozen food store near where i lived , back then i could buy 3 White fish whole fillets and a large bag of frozen chips with it all in a big bag for only £1 nowadays if that store was still running same food would be £3 at least ! so yeah inflation is outta control we need to get prices back down soon.
Well deserved mile stone. Your reviews honest and just like being in your kitchen. This is ideal not only for kids but a 57 year old kid who loves fish finger butties and tartar sauce but has to be cheap white bread.. If such a thing exists. Really funny in our house it is red brown sauce as well. Now getting spooky medication made me feel so ill last night my husband nipped across to local shop about 9pm for blooming crackers and ginger nuts a drawer full of anti sickness meds but good old crackers or ginger nuts nicer and works well. We seem to have same Boss in house as, well women of house give permission. Will look forward to Friday or if not possible when you next go live when stuck in bed it brings company and breaks up the week.
I worked part time at Ross foods to give me some extra cash whilst at collage. They had a misfits shop were employees could buy the unsuitable supermaket rejects. At the end of the day it's all the same food and taste but a fraction of the cost. Glad to see them being sold in the shops these days.
That's a right bargain @ £2. I'd be thanking the manager for this special. A great way to flog the 'seconds a bit howdy doody looking' fish fingers too. Just add fries, problem solved. There's 3 Fish Finger and 3 Hot Chip butties there with half a loaf of bread! An excellent find and review today Gareth. Cheers 👍🤤😀
I’m shocked. Can’t believe how much food there is 😮🙌👌👏🏻👏🏻 It’s like 10 fishfingers each. Very good suggestion to feed 4 children . Congratulations on reaching 60k subscribers, your hard work and dedication is bearing the fruits that is called success. Blessings. Here’s to 💯 thousand foodies
That's a really good deal and looks nice. I think that would feed a family of four with some other items like beans or veg. Great video as always Gareth.
Never mind about the 'damaged' nature/appearance of the fish fingers - who hasn't bust one or two up as you try and use tongs to get them out of the thing you've cooked them on? Excellent value for money in today's climate!
Thd xsell stuff is just repackaged foods that have often failed the physical quality check or discontinued . I had a few pies and pizzas off em in the past and they was some pies Iceland used to do. They seem have a lot of Iceland stuff
Hey Gaz👍congratulations on 60k+ it's well deserved mate, you're a down to earth fella not trying to give us the hard sell and with all the misery in the world its great to be able to relax and enjoy stuff! So thank you Gareth for your time bringing your reviews to us👏👏✌️🍻
For some reason, it reminded me of the huge fish cakes we used to get in school dinners. When everything was still cooked on site. I do miss the old "black imports" shops that were all around me a couple of decades ago. I used to buy tons of foreign sweets and cakes from them. I suspect a similar thing is happening now, with us "Soft Southerners" willing to buy the cheaper brands from "Up North". Aldi and Lidl have done a lot to kill off our food snobbery down South.
Talking of fishcakes, I remember my local traditional chippy in the 1960's, and they made an awesome fishcake - with actual chunks/pieces of fish and potato, in a crispy batter! 😋 And those were also the days when we used to take our own plates to the chippy, and they would fill the plates with great food, all wrapped up in newspaper! Happy days!
@@fredonline When I was a teenager we had a really old chip shop. That opened at random times, when he felt like it. Used to serve a large portion of chucky chips. In a paper cone he used to fold up out of newspaper. Brilliant memories.
I would buy them Gareth. Havnt had fish fingers in years. Times are tough, forget about presentation, it's a filler. Good that the company is not putting them in the bin. Great for kids. Cheers Debra xxx
It's good value if your struggling, add a tin of beans and some bread and butter and it would be a filling meal. Unfortunately I wouldn't eat the fish fingers as I only buy haddock ones. Congrats on getting to 60K.
If you bought the items separately you'd get at least the same for your money, but probably more. Better still buy a bag of potatoes and find how much you can get out of them plus there won't be the additives (yes, I do know that we all want some 'naughty' food).
We should all what we can do to reduce waste and that was a real eye opener. Three kids would be happy, warm and have full tummies with that and some beans. Brilliant Gareth.
Thanks for promoting this ‘deal’ - it’ll make a massive difference to a lot of struggling families. Respect 👌🏻 And big congrats on reaching that milestone 👏 Keep up the great work!
i bought these today just to try em on your reccomendation there were sooo many fish fingers and they were sooo cheap i fed my family of 3 on them and just £2.00 bargin would recommend them to all my friends... THANK YOU GARETH!!! another great saving from ya xxx
Great review, Gareth, but once again, I was distracted by the fridge artwork. The "Lady with Long Hair and Glass of Wine" top left, I think, is an amazing bold impressionist piece. Well worth framing. Is there any chance of a close-up of it?
Dear Gareth love your channel it always makes me feel hungry I sometimes don't want to eat but watching you gives me a boost to get my self a meal, well done on 60thousand,, love to you and you family xxx
There is nothing better in the culinary world (including fine dining) , that a fish finger sandwich. Fresh crusty bread, butter, salt and a squirt of chilly Mayo
Hi Gareth, I've been buying these for a long while now (Heron Foods) I've tried just about everything in their range and have never been let down, good on yer for bringing these to CZcams,s attention 👍👍
I love seeing places doing this kind of "wonky" food, it would otherwise go to waste, and let's be honest, if it's saves us a bit of money, especially in these times, most of us wouldn't care if the food isn't picture perfect, we'd be happy for the savings, I know some places, including Lidl also do boxes of fruit and veg near the end of it's life for a sharp discount, which is also great, shame there's no Lidl nearby you guys, would have loved to see you review some of the items there xD
An EX GF worked in Cadbury chocolate factory, and they sold end of run choc in staff shop, like £5 half a bin bag, before throwing them away, we waste so much, these kind of things should be more popular, who cares if fish fingers arent 100% perfect, they taste gr8 Im sure!!
Not related to food but Amazon returns and electronics waste is nothing short of criminal. They want us to piss about with useless electric cars while hundreds of millions of pounds worth of electronic stuff goes to landfill. I've had a pallet which came from a closed Amazon warehouse and it had about twenty grand worth of computer monitors which had been deliberately smashed to bits.
I always walk past these at b&m without having a look , I think because the packaging is very standard and not very appealing! But will deffo stop and look at them next time I'm there ✌🏽
Aldi beans are 22p a can, I got some just yesterday, I hope they're not bullets. Heron's have a full freezer of XSELL stuff, I buy it often. I would never buy chips, but the fish portions are cheap as chips!

“Crustaceans and molluscs.” You have just made my day. 🤣 You are right about shopping around for massive bags of fish fingers and fries, but the problem for me is that I won’t use them all at once and I only have a fridge/freezer, so nowhere to store them unless that is all I want to eat for the next month. The £2 size will do me nicely, thank you. What is more, it would do me twice (at least) with some beans or peas, so £1 per meal is brilliant. I have been buying wonky fruit and veg for a while now (I even got wonky bread a couple of times), and it is every bit as good as the “eight apples per pound and nothing else will do” stuff, so pretty fish fingers are not high on my list of priorities and I would definitely eat these. Well done on the 60,000 subscribers. 👍Thank you for letting real people know about real food that doesn’t cost a fortune. There are plenty of celebrity chefs out there telling us we have to use exotic ingredients no-one has ever heard of and you would need a mortgage to buy, but they are just there to give us a laugh, right?!
We had no money when I was growing up. Personally as an adult I would eat this once in a while to save myself some money and because I do quite enjoy fish fingers and most people like fries. Add a slice of bread and butter and you've got a decent meal. Yes its "junk" food but nothing wrong with having it once in a while. Bargain price great to feed 2 kids easily for struggling family.
whitefish would normally be saithe or pollock. it's a slightly more "fishy" flavour than cod or haddock. Still a perfectly good meal.lots of these fish consumed in scandinavia.
The xsell stuff is usually really good. Some stuff you can tell what it's supposed to be but others you have to guess. It's also a fun game to guess what's wrong with it and why was it rejected. Obviously with the fish fingers it was easy to see. But still fine nevertheless.
That is good value in today's economic gloom and like the dinners that I had when I was young. Only the fries were thicker as mum couldn't cut them that thin. Nice one 👍
My mum cooked large jumbo fish fingers with chips and peas or beans, delicious! Still love them but have to have Birds Eye because I can't stand minced fish. YUK!
Looks good to me @ £2 could't ask for more really , Surely B&M wan't to help people with the cost off living as prices continue to soar This is a Another great review I've not seen these before but will have to be quick if i want to buy Pretty sure they will sell out soon ! Congrats on reaching another milestone you absolutely deserve it being down to earth honest and informative
I grew up with those.. beans or peas some bread beautiful..I still eat it I'll be down b.and .m for that..2 quid smashing deal thank you pal.. i wish I had that when my boys where growing up..but they have so I can have it all to myself self lol what a feed God bless you 🙏
Well done 👏 wow excellent getting that many. That was a really good buy 3 dinners for £2 that will help so many families. Hope you and your family are keeping well 👍 God bless.
A lot of food for a little price, brilliant if you have kids to feed. I love a good fish finger sandwich with a bit of tartare sauce myself....cheers for that review Gareth. Would your challenge be a 'how many dry cream crackers you can eat' before you need to have drink to wash it down lol! I'll be watching Friday to have a laugh regardless 🤣
Well done Gareth on calling out Mrs Hunter….if there is an unexpected dip in your life, like bereavement, illness, job loss….what are you supposed to do with the “3/4” children that you have and love!!!
To be fair Gareth, they do actually look OK. I've spent more than £2 on them well known fish fingers and the fish in them were grey. 🤮 Don't think our B&M have a freezer section but we do have a farm foods. Might pop in.
Hey gaz im late today, great vid and a tip for getting a load of chips at once is to get a flip top head like me lol did the cream cracker thing at school i think,i had 17 in a row and my mouth felt like the westen sahara
The xsell are just the ones that aren’t “perfect “ to sell for an arm and leg …. May be stuck together or coating not quite covered etc…. They do some good stuff from well known brands … I like their stuff and that is a bargain 👏🏼👏🏼
It does make you wonder what would happen to the odds and ends like this if there wasn't companies willing to package and sell them. I'm all for it myself. I still love fish fingers, chips, garden peas and tomato ketchup with bread and butter.
In 90s i grew up on budget stuff too i love a fish finger sarnie not had one in awhile
Yep, like the 80's again! With some beans on the plate, job done!
Still prone to a fish finger sarnie nowadays. Saying thats, ive tried near enough anything in a sarnie, from pot noodles to pies, to pizza. 😂
My dad used to enjoy fish finger sandwiches, and I thought it weird and funny. Now that I'm older, I enjoy them myself lol
Yeah can't beat a fishfinger and cheese slice sandwich with a bit of tartar sauce on it
@@CragScrambler I never tried fancy lol, but thanks for the idea, will try to venture out a bit 😊
For that price, you can’t go wrong. I’m off to B&M!
That's a really good price for what you get and it's also far better than food that doesn't look perfect going to waste. More stores should be doing things like this when cash is tight..or tbh in general.
I notice that you can buy veg that's funny shapes and there's a delivery service for wrong shaped bread...got to be a good way to go.

Haha nearly there 😋👌👌
@@BaldFoodieGuy I'm gonna be watching lol!
Well done Gareth on calling out Mrs Hunter….if there is an unexpected dip in your life, like bereavement, illness, job loss….what are you supposed to do with the “3/4” children that you have and love!!!
Cheers Teresa, yes no reply back from her. Everyone has a voice. Thank you, have a good evening 👍👍
To be fair Gareth, they do actually look OK. I've spent more than £2 on them well known fish fingers and the fish in them were grey. 🤮 Don't think our B&M have a freezer section but we do have a farm foods. Might pop in.
Yes pretty good really just misshaped 😊😋😋😋👍
Hey gaz im late today, great vid and a tip for getting a load of chips at once is to get a flip top head like me lol did the cream cracker thing at school i think,i had 17 in a row and my mouth felt like the westen sahara
Haha cheers pal
Love fish fingers but you've got to have beans or at least peas with that.
For that price it's a no brainer Gareth 👍🏻👍🏻
The xsell are just the ones that aren’t “perfect “ to sell for an arm and leg …. May be stuck together or coating not quite covered etc…. They do some good stuff from well known brands … I like their stuff and that is a bargain 👏🏼👏🏼
Cheers Gill

Best wishes gareth 👍👌
