The 2 songs that I had never heard until watching the movie; this one and 'Heaven', have somehow since become my favorite Talking heads songs. And don't get me wrong . I love all their songs.
I think this is my favorite song from this whole concert movie! Not just the music but the lighting and camera work - so amazing! Shout out to academy award winning director Jonatham Demme (R.I.P.)
This song doesn't get a lot of attention relative to other songs in this concert but it's one of my favorites. Visuals are fantastic too. Starts with almost majestic harmonies goes to a little jam and then BOOM BOOM BOOM
I had a tape copied from the vhs of this movie. Took me 25 years to actually see the film. This did not play on stage as I thought, not in a disappointing way, but just happy I know every note before seeing it. Completely different.
That one is lit from below, i forget the technical term for it, it was like halloween, or when u tell a ghost story in the dark & u tell it holding the flashlight from below shining it up on ur face...but, total light assisted intensification, for sure.....i love that damn song, i tried to figure out the guitar chords once way back in the earlier days of the internet when i wouldnt have known there were online chord charts anyway...i,think i figured them out, but its a tricky song...i love it...great reaction
I think this is a song on a project David did outsider Talking Heads. The Catharine Wheel. It is from a play. On Vinyl it is a very good album. Top. Later on CD too many in between pieces.
Such a strange and deeply moving performance captured on film. Lyrics evoking The Book of Genesis and life and civilizations with kings and beggars and ending with how we live under the threat of nuclear annihilation, all underscored by a driving, funky beat and haunting lighting effects. That’s how I am left feeling, anyway.
As a couple of people have mentioned, this song is from a David Byrne side project, the music for _The Catherine Wheel,_ which is a modern ballet (NOT your grandfather's ballet), by choreographer/auteur Twyla Tharp. This production may be a bit hard to track down, but is VERY worth seeing at least once. Having now seen two reactions to this song in as many days, I feel the need, myself, to try to find some place to see it again....
Bernie Worrell the synth performer on their performances of this. I talked to George Clinton in a little sit down with him. George said that Bernie was an EXPENSIVE hire when those two collaborated for Funkadelic, Bootsy...etc. He said Bernie was a classically trained Pianist.
Best concert I ever saw. Best film capture of a live experience that actually feels like being there. Talking Heads was pure hypnosis.
That performance is pure fire.
Absolutely!
Can we all just appreciate for a moment that rhythm guitar lick? Wow...
The best song on “The Catherine Wheel”, David Byrne’s solo album of songs for a dance project by Twyla Tharp. It fits in well in this show though.
It fits very well!
🎤 "We're going Boom! Boom! Boom!" 🎤 "And in a great big room!" 💃🏾🐰
Masterpiece! love the backing vocals too!
😍 Perfect high energy song, with soaring backing vocals, after Swamp. 😊🐰
This is easily my favorite set-piece of the film. The lighting, the tension and beauty in the music. I love it.
Hard to beat it!

They are all great! Heaven is one of our favorites too!

This is definitely one of the best! Thanks for watching!

Gotta love it!

The visual aspect is definitely a whole other dimension to this. Thanks for watching Dale!

He's Funny, Creative, And Highly Expressive.

Beat bridge/coda ever. Filmed live by Jonathon Demme.
I think this is one of the added songs from the original album.Anyway, there is a Stop Making Sense 2023 show coming out...
Whaaaat?! How cool!
You had to have been there and I was! October 1983 Nashville Tennessee one of the top 10 shows I ever saw.
Sounds awesome! Thanks for watching Bob!
