Good tips but another important one is a modern undercoating treatment like NHOU or Fluid Film. In NH for example, if you don’t oil undercoat your vehicle, within just a couple of years the brine salt they use on the roads will begin rotting your frame, body and more regardless of how much you wash it. These treatments are typically done annually for best results. I oil undercoat my vehicles each fall. If you’re going to keep your Jeep more than a few years, undercoating is a no brainer.

Good video Matt. I fluid film my vehicles. When I had my 2019 Ram 2500 before I sold it to get my Jl I had fluid film on that and the underside stayed flawless. Would only need slight touchup every year. Just so you know it will displace water. So if you have some rust it seeps into the nooks and crannies to preserve what you have.

Hey Matt. Great tips, especially about being prepared to be stuck in the cold. A few years back, a friend was stuck on the Interstate outside Atlanta for 18 hours when they closed the roads due to sudden ice and snow storm (and southerners, so they didn't have enough plows/salt spreaders).
Also, it was Dielectric Grease is what you were thinking of. I used it in my mechanical keyboard stabilizers 😄

In all of our Jeeps, I have jumper cables, a pair of Mehanix gloves, a 10T bottle jack and a torque wrench. If I have to put on a spare, I have everything there that I need and can get it torqued to spec right on the spot. I use Fluid Film on all of our winter vehicles here in NE Ohio. Have to correct you on that...issues over covering pre-existing rust has to do with a dry undercoating product like paint. Fluid Film never dries and it is a self healing, it does not trap moisture and air under the coating because it displaces moisture and keeps the oxygen from oxidizing the metal. Frames rot from the inside out, so if you're just treating what you can see, you're not going to know that you have a major rot issue until it is too late. The Adams spray looks like it would be nice for fender wells and what you can see, but no way is that going to be able to protect inside of the frame. Check out Fluid Film or Blaster Surface Shield.

Get a pair of LED Road flares I got 6 they come in handy can stick them on your truck or lay them on the ground as a flare for different light sequences and they are orange, Get a visibility vest if you are out of your vehicle at night. few little candles in case you need to keep warm in the vehicle when it's broken during the winter.

I keep some LED Road Safety Flares Roadside Warning Safety Flare Kit for Car, Truck, RV & Boat with Magnetic Base, Hooks to Hang & Carrying Bag | 4 Beacon Disc Pack with 9 Flash Modes in all of my vehicles, instead of flares that can cause a fire and burn out. They come in a storage bag and are super bright. You can use the magnet to stick them on your car or lay them in the street to warn oncoming cars to a problem in the road. Check the batteries regularly to make sure they are ready when you need them. I also keep a LifeStraw Personal Water Filter in the car so we can always filter water.

Dielectric grease is was you're thinking of. Another tip for winterizing, is one my dad taught me. Buy a bottle of glycerin. You can find it at any drug store, or pharmacy. Dip your key in it and insert it a few times, into the door key slot. Then wipe more on all the rubber seals on the jeep, both body and door. After you shut the door, rub some on the gap around the door. All this will ensure your doors and seals never freeze.

on the backpack, I typically keep a 3 day pack. This is more for a break down or accident scenario. Plus, if me and the wifey have a last-minute idea to stay over anywhere, we are covered. When I was in W.V. hills for a while, SEALED dried fruit/meat, TWO pairs of undies, a reflective blanket, and a machete strapped to the rollbar was some I also always had, too.

@@DIRTROADCRED Came across downed limbs dangling across the roads, on the way home one ice storm night. I was able to chop them to the ground and drag them off the road rather than bash them into the windowframe. I’m not going to admit that a machete straps to the TOP of the rollbar and under the top, very easily, hiding it from anyone, but still putting it within easy reach.
