I had a friend who worked in a restaurant in the mall. I stopped by to see him one night on my way to the record store. I said "I'm heading to the record store, want me to grab you anything?" He leaned in closer, and said in a low voice "Get me Air Supply's greatest hits, but keep it on the down low, ya know what I'm saying?"

Personally not true with me. I had their Greatest Hits and the music book with lyrics. I had hoped to use some of the songs for romance. Didn't happen. Unfortunately, that among other musical tapes, CDs, records (Both my deceased Mom's and my collections) were lost in a public storage unit auction in 2012. Couldn't pay the rent on the unit. Anyway, really great collection of love songs of the 80s. Try these songs. Even The Nights Are Better, Every Woman In The World, ( The song that basically summed up my hope for love), Here I Am,
Them and The Little River Band.

This and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" are my favorites by them. You have to listen to that one too! Oh and I forgot one more - "Just As I Am". Their lyrics and voices had such passion - I think that's why they were so popular. I listened to this one on my cassette player over and over after my first heartbreak in high school 😭 When I hear it again, I'm back there thinking of him and it still brings a tear to my eye - along with probably many more people here too! I knew it would but had to click anyway - I'm just a masochist I guess 😁

You are probably right. My awareness of music in that period is sketchy because just a kid, but I can look back as an adult now and know despite not aware enough to consciously listen to music then I must have heard it in background so there is stuff like Bee Gees, Abba, Oliva Newton-John, Air Supply and Bon Scott era of AC/DC that just my first memories of music and it make me think of my early childhood memories.

Air Supply seemed to be everywhere when I was a teen in the 80s. We used to be writing their lyrics in our notebooks at school. It was the best time, it seemed like yesterday.

We just got home an hour ago from an Air Supply concert! They have the best love songs ever and they still sound great- it was so fun!

I loved soft rock and what's known as bubblegum pop now. I was a Donny Osmond girl as a preteen and a teen.
"Sweet Dreams" by Air Supply is a powerful ballad. "Every Woman In The World" is my favorite. The first 45-inch single I bought in 1981 is "Here I Am" by Air Supply.

I operated with guys in the 80's that liked a certain type of music and Air Supply didn't feature in there. I actually loved there song and was a closet AS fan. Their love songs were always there to sooth me and it was relatable to what we experienced as youth and young adults.

I remember a time when people used to write a letter or call a radio station (KOST103.5 FM) and request this song. People had arguments, disagreements etc and would dedicate this song to their lover. The radio dj would read the letters on the air. It was a cool concept when you could actually request songs and dedicate them to whoever you wanted. I think I just made myself feel old. Hahaha.

Oh My Gosh! When I was about 7, in 1981, my brother who is a few years older than me was in love with a girl, who became his wife used to listen to their greatest hits all night long. When the tape ended, he would wake up and turn the tape over. This went on for a few years! Wonderful memories of my brother when we were kids.

Huge selling artists in their day but not my cuppa tea; I prefer the AC/DC , Aussie Pub Rock bands and music from the same period. The guys met both being in the Australian cast of Jesus Christ Superstar way back in (I think) 1972. After that run they formed Air Supply and found a niche in soft rock, easy listening, West Coast Sound (whichever is you me preferred tag) music from the mid 70s.

I actually had them on 8-track yeah I said what I said I'm closer 50 now but I got to say I've always loved these guys they are amazing. And it's like the Abba thing it's just that you think that it would become dated but it just doesn't and just never really get tired of listening to them. It's this Christmas clean and there as it was way back when I was kid.
