Never before have I found an art channel that I’ve consistently watched almost everyday until I found this guy. I also don’t normally leave likes. Not like I purposely avoid doing it, it’s just that I don’t normally even think about it. But with Brunet’s videos I immediately know that I’m actually going to learn something useful, so I pretty much do it right off the bat, simply because it feels like the least I can do in exchange for the information that I’m about to get. Sometimes I’ll watch the videos even just purely for entertainment, and that’s definitely not something I’d normally do on any other art channel. Brunet here is a legitimately outstanding teacher.

**The information I got from this video -**
**Identify your goal:** Before starting to draw, identify what you want to achieve. This will help you focus on the 20% of efforts that will give you 80% of the results.
**Focus on learning anatomy, gesture, and storytelling:** These are essential for character design and will help you achieve great results with very little effort compared to studying everything without a clear goal.
**Practice fundamentals:** Practice gesture drawing and anatomy, which can improve skills like shading and lighting. This will help you become more efficient and effective in your practice.
**Use the 80/20 rule:** Focus on the 20% of art skills that will give 80% of the results, rather than spreading yourself thin by trying to do everything at once.
**Apply the Explorer's path or the Dealer's path:** The Explorer's path involves jumping into a specific task and figuring out how to complete it as you run into roadblocks, while the Dealer's path involves learning skills that can be applied across multiple scenarios.
**Practice quality over quantity:** Don't just draw for the sake of drawing. Focus on quality over quantity in your studies.
**Be intentional:** Decide to improve at drawing and make a commitment to do it. Schedule time for practice and stick to it.
**Look at drawings:** Learn from the work of others. Look at the way they use line and shape, how they shade, and how they tell a story.
**Draw simple things around you:** Mastering basic technical aspects in drawing is essential to improving your skillset. Draw simple things around you and learn the basics of drawing.

Literally just saw the movie, it was a blast. The plot, the art, the music! All top tier.
I've over time realised that my learning method is the "explorer" method. However schools taught more of the "dealer" style, and I couldn't absorb the material as I wasn't able to immediately apply it.
Finally figured it out though, and am learning much faster.
On a side note, just asking out of pure curiosity and want to learn,
Spidergirl's right deltoid seems to be extremely prominent, a huge bulge. I've not actually seen deltoids, especially female deltoids that pronounced without the biceps and triceps being massive too.
Am I missing something in my studies?

I love how the art journey show me over and over again that selfgrow and selfconciousness are the things that actually can push us far. This means, learn what methods or techniques suits you better, not only to get better results with less effort, but to really manage your time better. You even added a beautiful reflexion at the end of the video that proves it. Becoming a better artist may be seen as something that we HAVE to do so we can get money and THEN live well. But when you see the whole picture is more like, "ok how can I get the most from what I do (and love to do) to live a life that I can -mainly- enjoy?" it's not only about spending hours learning to get a good job, its about the life we want to live right now too and how we can make the most of it. You're a beautiful and REALLY BIG PART of my art journey so i'm so deeply thankful for your whole existence and your vocation to share yourself here. Thank you so much Marc, let's keep creating!

I find I learn best by having a practical application for what I'm setting out to learn. Knowing the end result you're shooting for can help to guide what steps you take and where you place your focus. In my case, I learned how to build websites because I had a desire to create my own online video game magazine back in the late 90's. The same thing happened when I set out to learn how to develop iOS Apps - I wanted to make a specific App - which all led to the career I have now.
I drew a lot when I was growing up, but stopped somewhere around middle school. I don't want to say I excelled compared to my peers, but I was often the teacher's pet in art class. I've been thinking about getting back into drawing, and my purpose is to make an indie game.

The anatomy lessons are mind blowing but you HAVE to draw and take notes during the course then do the homework (not necessarily all at once. It’s a lot). After a year of following, I can draw a person head to toe in perspective with no reference. Kim Jun Gi said that took him ten years. I also refined a lot of my general design knowledge (even tho my degree is in design). I sound like a sales person, but as someone who couldn’t pursue an illustration degree due to how expensive private schools are, I love seeing anyone willing to self-dedicate two years to changing their life.

Im so glad i used this method with out even knowing what it is, also as i tend to be a fast learner i got the hang of art pretty quick 😅

I will give an example for 3D, you learn it basically the same way you do with any other art. I decided I want to do level design. I give myself a time limit and all the elements I will use. After the time period is over, there are no additional touchups. I see what is good and what is not and do the next one, using what I have learned. It might be slow at first but you become extremely fast and learn how to plan ahead. For me, there was a problem that I actually needed to learn to be a 3D generalist first so I can actually make all the elements I need, then I had to learn the engine and so on. This type of method is goal orientated (it is basically the first method mentioned in the video but with a few limitations).

I freaking love your content, the way you manage to keep everything entertaining and most of all useful, but there's one thing i've always wondered... what's the amazing music in each of your videos, like really those guitar notes hits me soo much in those seconds of pure peace while you draw.

I LOVE your lessons. I did want to ask 2 things:
    1. How long does an art piece like the Zelda-type character you designed about two weeks ago take?
    2. Can we tag you in any of the artworks put on social media? I'd love to know that you even just got to see some of the character pieces I've been working on.
I'm definitely an explorer type, and I love to draw characters and these lessons have been really helpful as I go through my own art journey. I still use a lot of them to this day just for reminders and reviews to make sure I'm doing some things correctly. Like your cel shading video, I had a go doing cel shading, I was happy with the final result, but somehow it just boosted my shading skills in my normal art, and I was not expecting that at all, 😅

I'm sorry but I remember way more from my elemental school than what you mentioned; in fact, I'd say most things from then, and I regard it as a very important base for our character and thinking, not a waste of time. That part gave me the ick lol

Right now, one of the main things I'm trying to focus on is becoming more efficient with my work. The main thing I noticed is having a good sketch will make everything else go faster. So I think I need to work on anatomy and being able to sketch out the proportions and pose quicker with less time tinkering.

I’m probably more of a dealer path starting and should eventually pan into explorer path.. or maybe just flat out mix them-
since what my end goal is is to be able to do abstract art mixed with realism - but my abstract pieces I visualize in my head always have a character, animal or human in them in some pose or other surrounded by abstract or fantasy elements. So while I have a clear specific one thing only goal - my one thing only has a huge range of elements included in it so I’d have to learn tons of different things anyways.

Hey ! Nice video. For someone like me who's REALLY on a budget, what's the fastest way for me to learn to draw figures and anatomy? Books? Would you suggest books? I could draw from another picture I suppose like you mentioned but I have a handicap with being able to use alot of tech. Let me know! Interested in your course. Not sure how able I'd be to engage with the pc alot tho.

I would love to see a tutorial on the lasso tool. I've watched many of your videos, I'm a new user of a Wacom tablet - which came with a subscription for Clip Studio. I struggle to understand how to use this tool, which seems to be a basic fundamental of your tutorials. I figure this is relevant to the 80/20 rule... I conquer the Lasso Tool and I save 80% of my time!! Thanks, any help or direction to videos that are appropriate. It'd be appreciated.

I really want to draw again, I there still a chance that I can draw the same quality as yours?
I really like your art work.
