    I have this machine and it is my first one so my perspective is limited. However, I have a comment to make about it and the Flex/Ramp settings you covered. Sorry for the length but some perspective is needed: Back when I did my in-lab titration test, I thought I could never use a CPAP. Felt like I was being waterboarded with air. To say I hated it is a massive understatement. Only by not sleeping at all the night before was I even successful (four masks and many hours later) in falling asleep in the lab. They confirmed I needed cpap in a very big way. My experience was so negative I took no action for a few years but finally decided to go back and give it another try with another test, this time at home. (Yeah, okay, the bride was convincing.) Called the company I'd selected to work with (took my insurance) and asked what units they were providing. There were only two, so I researched 'em on line. I landed on this unit purely because of the Ramp and Flex settings. Thought Ramp could be the answer but the Flex setting turned out to be even more key - although both mattered. With these settings in use, I can start with low pressure until I fall asleep. With Flex set to three, I get maximum exhalation relief at all times. These options are what drove me to this model and, after one month, I have nearly fully acclimated to my cpap machine and use it every night. It's not an exaggeration to say that these settings may have been life-saving for me. Without these settings, I am skeptical that I could have adjusted to cpap. As in, ever. (I hated it that much.) Now, as I find myself adjusting, I seem to need them just a little less but am still using them at max levels. Really glad I chose this DS2 unit. The other unit I'd have been issued didn't have these configs, and I had to wait an extra two weeks for them to get a DS2 back in stock. These settings were everything. I'd still be a walking zombie not using a cpap without them. I'm quite certain of this. Sorry for the length, but there's gotta be others out there like me and, if there is, these Ramp and Flex settings could make all the difference. They did for me.

    Really enjoyed your short but very informative video.. I have one question regarding the water tank. Can I operate my CPAP machine without the water tank attached to the unit while I am on vacation in a humid area or environment
    ?? thanks in advance

      Yes that is an option. We have a great tutorial to help on that exact issue of using CPAP without water. Link below. Thanks for watching.

    Mine came with an unheated 12mm tube. I like the smaller tube. It's more flexible and doesn't tangle as much as the thicker stiffer tubing.

    So what do you do if none of the options you show on the comfort menu like humidity or rap time are showing?

      There should be but it is in the Clinical Menu I think. Link below.

    My 86 yo mother just got this unit to replace her recalled unit. I followed all of the setup steps. It automatically transferred all settings from her first unit. I pulled the SD card from her old unit and installed it and it had a read error and now does the same in her old unit. Hearing that she doesn’t need it I am not going to installed the SD card in her dreamstation 2. I set her ramp pressure and had her put on her mask to see how the ramping worked. It was set to ramp up for 15 minutes. The pressure on the old machine would gradually increase. The pressure was set to start at 5. It blinked the whole time but never increased. If you have any insight on this we would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you.

      If it is in Auto mode it may have felt like it did not need to increase. There is also a setting in the clinical menu that is called Easy Start. If this is enabled, then it will start off super conservatively through the first few weeks of usage. Meaning that it will take a while before the pressure will increase.

    I got this unit as a replacement for the dreamstation 1. Woke up with burning smell in my nose. Was freaking out... The water reservoir emptied out during the night. Should i be worried? Shouldn't the machine not have these issues especially with whats going on with Phillips?

    • @CPAPmyway
      @CPAPmyway  Před rokem

      You will probably have to reduce the humidity setting to avoid the water tank emptying out.

      I don’t like the dream station 2.
      It goes through water faster than the 1. Seems to me the water tank is smaller so it holds less.

    How do you turn Ramp off? The menu only offers 15, 20, 45 minutes. I don't see any "Off."

    • @Deerlover75

      While you’re in the ramp function, try tapping the plus button till you get to the off setting.

    • @Deerlover75
      @Deerlover75 Před rokem

      If that doesn’t work, just run the ramp setting up to whatever your pressure is suppose to be. 😊
