    Cayley, I love the message - you don't get a six pack overnight...Love it. I think so many people need to hear this starting out. They think, why am I not getting sales? Well, your feedback might be low...your titles might need help, your photos might need help, so many ways to improve listings but if you have the right items, usually sales happen. I've seen horrible listings (bad titles, very bad photos, low feedback) still get incredible high $ sales - because they had the right item. So, start with great items & learn how to improve (as we all have) our titles, keywords, item specifics, photos, & descriptions. But if you keep at it, and keep learning too - eventually you will find success...well we are never perfect, always room for improvement. But I remember my first BIG sale...a gorgeous coat I found at Goodwill. It wasn't even winter, but it was a lightweight designer rain coat. I didn't comp it did not know the brand I paid $13.99 for it which was / and is unusual for me. I looked it up that night - not many sold but they were high $. I listed, priced high but not highest...and it sold for $113 that night while I slept to someone in Europe. I made $100 - minus fees of course. I had been reselling only two months...that kept me going. I have improved on titles, keywords, photos...now its two things: buying higher STR items with higher $ listing & listing faster. You have great advice, and know how to say it.

    I agree that live sales on Poshmark don't really impact my sales. I think customers who go to live sales are a completely demographic than those who shop in our closets. Live sales provide community and you have to wait to find what you want. Closets have immediate access via search to find what you want. Love your videos! Thanks for sharing!

    I would think is listing items that sell and list as much as you can. The problem is most sellers list ordinary items that never sell. A Niche is key.

    Great points! I have been focusing way too much on getting my listing numbers up that I completely missed the point that it's to make sales! If you are making quick sales, there is no way to build inventory numbers to insane levels. I've learned so much from you! I look forward to watching every video you put out. I source for myself and I'm overwhelmed when I sit down to list. I would love to hear a deep dive on how you decided to hire an employee and what that looks like. re: Live sales.
    I do my best to target people who look for quality fabrics, quality items and timeless styles (that isn't to say I dont ever pick up anything super trendy if the price/time is right) but the audience I'm trying to target is not the right audience for live sales. People who look for quality fabrics and timeless pieces don't generally buy things on impulse in the 1 minute or whatever you have to decide. It would be nice to show off some features or fit or flow of a garment sometimes, but thats what the video feature is for. I've never done a live show and don't intend to and my sales have gone up because I've become more selective about pieces I pick up and I do more research about what sells and thats it. Live shows might be right for some people but its just not part of my business model and not right for the things I pick up.

    I agree I have ebbs and flows with sales, a lot of times it is my own fault, I work full time so it can be very hard to feel like all I do is work. I enjoy Reselling part of reseller edge; I just do what I can and don't put pressure on myself. Plus, I stop comparing my numbers to others because I work full time. It is not realistic for me to strive for something I wouldn't be able to achieve especially work 10-hour days

    Thanks for the informative video. First..the way I think the live selling has affected resellers is that I am seeing a general over the top lowball offers on my items after the shows got going...I think people are checking out the shows based on how much posh pushes them and seeing things start at such low bids(and often selling for barely anything0 and thinking we all are able to go that low or will go that low. Definitely the folks shopping the show are a different audience. Ok..and my question is about Posh Promoted Listings. Are you doing it? And what is your opinion on it?

    Hi Carley. Great information. I have a question about keywords. I know the importance of them in the title of the listing but what about putting them in the description area? I see a lot of keywords there when i look at other listings. Do you know if the searches find keywords there in addition to the title? On Ebay or Poshmark? Or both?
    thank you.

    • @cayleyelaine
      @cayleyelaine  Před měsícem +1

      I would prioritize the best keywords for your item in the title and then put the rest in the description. Ebay didn't used to pull from the description in search but I think recently they are starting to. They definitely prioritize the title though. Poshmark pulls from both but again, put the best ones in the title.

  • @5DGuitars
    @5DGuitars Před 11 dny

    DO NOT reduce your 8000 item inventory that quickly!! If you do you will start to see your volume of sales drop dramatically after a couple of months, no matter what quantity or quality you list. Ebay is going to clock your store as being in contraction or recession and assume it is do to lack of market appeal.
    You would be better off either A) match or exceed the # of daily sales and ended listings with new quality listings or B) start a new store with the "good items" and sell off or remove the bad items until the old store stops converting views to sales.

    Been a reseller on ebay since 2001. My method is to turn my store inventory over quickly. I keep about 100 items in my store, and I source/list a few items everyday. I also accept almost all offers. I just sold a Designer piece for $40, it was listed for $75. I accepted the offer cause I got the item for $5. Win- win…. buyer got a deal. And now my account has activity happening which seems to generate more sales and more activity. Lots of items I have listed for $20-$30, if someone offers me $10…. ok- I will likely accept. It evens out. Several times I sell items at my cost or just above. I want buyers to come back, I want the sales. I will do the work for even a net profit of a few bucks.

    Cayley, Great Video! Would love more, more, more FAQ in the future! Here's MY Burning Question: I often skip using keywords like Womens & Mens when I list a brand that is ONLY made for either men or women. For instance, Lilly Pulitzer or even when listing a Dress or Blouse which equate to women. Does it Really Matter since the category is already gender-specific, etc. Hopefully this makes sense, I am able to use more key keywords!??? Thanks!
