Hi, today we're taking a look at a new book from the good folks over at Nintendo Force - The Impact of Iwata. We're sort of burying the lead here but our very own Kit contributed to the book with and wrote a section about working on Nintendo Direct with Mr. Iwata. The book is a really great collection and comprehensive history of Mr. Iwata's life. Let us know your favorite Mr. Iwata moment in the comments below.

Thank you for the kind words! And extra special thanks for contributing to the Nintendo Direct chapter, Kit!
I recived my copy about 3 weeks ago. Still haven't found time to read through it yet. But when I do I'll for sure upload my video as well. Amazing job on the book lucas. :)
@@CreativeSteve69Thank you!
Hi lucas! I was wondering if you are going to have a new video on your NF channel? I love watching them and you haven't had one in a while!
@@dg-vc8fzThe NF CZcams channel will be getting active again very soon! (I spent most of the last year focusing on the book!)
Any word on whether this book will be released in the UK? It looks fantastic
I still think of the incredible team Iwata, Miyamoto, and Reggie made. That was something truly special.
“On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer.”
Still very deeply missed, and my favourite quote by Mr. Satoru Iwata, as it showed that he was one of us, not just someone who was only concerned by profits, but as a gamer, knew that “Above all, video games are meant to just be one thing: Fun for everyone.”
I am so grateful you two have spotlighted this book. NintendoForce doesnt get enough credit for being such an amzing, special thing in this time of physical media decay. The book and magazines are of such superb quality and writing.
Man, I really miss him, despite never crossing paths with him, his impact will never be forgotten. His passion for everything he did really shines through even to this day ☺️
I got really teary eyed at the end of the video and it just reminds that even when people are gone, it’s never “the end” 🥹
Thank you Satoru Iwata 🙏
I’ll never forget the announcement of his passing. Was coming home from comic con and I opened twitter to the news of his death. Made the trip more meaningful cause I went to comic con for the Nintendo lounge in particular. No amount of words can express how appreciative I am for him and his contributions to gaming
For Mr. Iwata. Glad I read Reggie's book "Disrupting The Game" and appreciate the recommendations to see other things Mr. Iwata is in, ranging from books to pamphlets and many more. Thanks Kit and Krysta! I bet his spirit is somewhere up in the Kit and Krysta studio.
This man was a great inspiration, i specifically remember his English voice, i remember this specific line about Majora's mask 3D i think. He would say in a super cute way: *Majora's mask can be quite scary*. It went something like that. But its been a long time since ive seen it. Maybe one of you you two remember! his *directly to you* line in directs still hits hard for me.
It still feels like some of that magic is missing sometimes. But this might also just be the company looking forward rather than backwards.
Unfortunately i live in Europe, so i would've loved to purchase one, but I'll have to wait a bit longer for that. In the meantime, great review! The book looks amazing, as well as all the artworks! Many props to all the writers and artists!
I still remember coming home from school, one of the few last directs had Iwata featured not long before his passing on my 3ds handheld. it actually made my tear up. Once I saw this Kickstarter getting recommended to me i knew i had to back it last year and glad I did. Growing up on Nintendo consoels/handhelds most of my life i just had to as well. I still haven't had time to read through it yet. But loved watching you twos review on the book. I also have a copy of the other iwata book as well which i loved.
I love that Iwata poster!
I received my copy a couple weeks ago! The overall product quality certainly exceeded my expectations. Very grateful to Lucas Thomas for putting this book together - it's a wonderful book to celebrate Iwata's legacy. I will cherish this forever!
Hey that's me on the right page at 1:52 lol
I still greatly miss Iwata.
Holy moly! This looks like a really well done book. I love all the illustrations.
We need a story on how it was like working at Nintendo when Mr Iwata passed away & subsequent days after his passing.
Thanks for this review. Just purchased for my Nintendo collection.
I love this book & Iwata-san! I’m a Nintendo Force subscriber, and I got this on Kickstarter with all these goodies! Lucas and his family are in my city in Kentucky! I wasn’t home, but his wife delivered my copy, and my mom talked with her a bit and she seemed very nice! I’d love to meet them one day!
A book of memories, a life journey, and so much more.
Shoutouts to the curiomatic team for the artwork!
Loved Ask Iwata. Will have to check this out.
Looks neat. I actually just got Ask Iwata a couple of weeks ago and am slowly reading through it. This seems like a good book to pick up too. Thank you for the review.
Thank you for sharing!
Nice video!
I actually preferred this over Reggie's book. 😅
Impact of Iwata well done Nintendo Force 🎉
Need to get it!
this is very cool!
is thier a link 2 the book?
Yes, in the description of this video!
Is there an audiobook?
The audiobook is still in the works! We're targeting a May release for it. (Kit contributing his voice too, to read his page aloud!)
Does this book use a lot of Kanji?
None -- it's all in English! There's just a bit of kana and kanji on the obi jacket and cover.
@@marybelle340 thank you.. I'm ok hiragana and katakana, kanji not so much
I wonder if Nintendo blacklisted them, since they seems very adverse to revealing internal stuff outside of corporate channel, also since they visited nontendo
unfortunately not many are even interested in iwata it seems....
Nintendo is a terrible company don't subscribe to nintendo force
