The world hasn’t changed much since the late 1800 and early 1900s. Envy, jealousy, knocking people by those persons who are useless and cowards, still occurs today of course. One can only imagine the field day such persons would have today. Doubt that things like being a cross dresser was part of the language back then. How else would she have dressed. Oh yes, you looked great in that long dress and side saddle Calamity and real nice shoes. Please many women in the West dressed in pants. Do you think that women on the Ranch or farm wore dresses and shoes, feeding the stock, ploughing the field etc. The gossip re Calamity Jane and Dora smells again of jealousy and envy. Both women would be lonely, have a lot in common and the last thing they wanted around them was dirty, smelly men, often drunk. Dora would be a friend in need and a friend indeed, without Calamity resorting to peddling herself. As for self promotion, any good writer or story teller, never spoil a good story with the truth. Do you really think that books of the past, or movies and videos of today, tell the story the way it really happened? Look at all the stories of Tombstone, do you think any of them are truthful. Ringo was a saint in the weekly TV shows, and we all liked it, however, he was anything nothing like the ate in real life. Lighten up and give the girl a break. Actually the sweetheart of 5he screen Doris Day had an abusive home life of screen, but you wouldn’t know it based on the Stories by the Studios. They did nothing about it when a top star was the victim. Look how long it to for the facts of this Sean the Rapper vermin to come out. Yes, people love to knock.
