Whether you own one or multiple Rolex watches, there is the perfect storage solution for you. If you don’t wear your watch very often, a safe or watch winder might suffice. However, if you wear your Rolex daily, a nice display box might appeal to you more. To best decide which option works best for you, we must ask the question, how often do you wear your Rolex?
Suppose you own a few watches that you rotate through regularly or just one Rolex that you wear every day. In that case, a nice display case will do the job. There are many options available, including those with and without glass tops.
There are even display cases with temperature and humidity monitors for those who live in areas where these factors might affect your watch. If you own a vintage Rolex, its case might not be as water-resistant as it once was. Moisture may find its way into the case and possibly damage the movement. If so, a watch box with humidity control might be the perfect fit for you.
If your collection is too large to wear each Rolex regularly, a watch winder might better suit you. This option keeps your timepiece in motion when it isn’t on your wrist, thus, keeping the movement wound and ensuring that the date and time are always correct.
Storage Options
The Original Box: Some collectors prefer to keep their Rolex in the original box. This option isn’t the best choice for a couple of reasons. First, the box your watch came in wasn’t designed for daily use. Opening and closing the box each time you wear your Rolex adds unnecessary wear. Also, many will argue that it’s best to keep the original box in excellent condition in the event that you choose to resell your Rolex. Lastly, the box takes up a lot of room compared to other options outlined in this video.
Watch Box or Display Case
If you prefer to keep all your Rolexes in one place where you can easily view and access them, a watch box or display case might appeal to you. Cases with a glass top are popular as they allow the wearer to view all their watches at once without the hassle of opening multiple boxes, not to mention it also looks impressive when displayed on your desk or dresser. Furthermore, watch boxes can easily accommodate growing collections without taking up as much space as keeping them in the original box.
Watch Rolls
Watch rolls are another excellent option to keep on hand, particularly for travel. They’re compact, soft, and can often hold several watches. While there are options available that feature a more rigid outer layer, watch rolls are not ideal for long-term storage. They don’t offer the same protection against wear and tear or humidity as a high-quality watch box or display case.
Watch Winders
All modern Rolexes are powered by a Perpetual movement that is wound by the motion of the wearer’s wrist. By keeping the watch in motion, the time and date should not need to be reset, which is one reason why one might choose this option. Winders can consist of a watch box or display case with a timer and a motorized mechanism that moves the watch periodically.
If you have a larger collection, there are more expensive options on the market that accommodate multiple watches. Some watch winders even offer additional settings and might include finer materials.
If your collection includes watches with more complications, such as a Moonphase, a winder might be a good fit for your collection. While the day and date are simple enough to set, added functions may complicate the process. In that case, a winder is both practical and convenient.
Safes
Perhaps, one of the most secure storage options is a safe or bank security box. Rolex watches are valuable. It makes sense that many collectors choose this option to protect their investments. While a deposit box is backed by the security of a bank, it isn’t as practical should you decide to wear your watch. An at-home safe is appealing because it offers the protection that many collectors seek with the convenience of having their collection at home.

I just toss mine in a drawer, lol. Had it since 1982, it runs like a champ. Only serviced twice.
You have lost respect from the rolex community
@@eabnamoliben1598his comment likes determined that was a lie.
@@eabnamoliben1598 Why? A drawer accomplishes the same goal as a watch box.
I'm liking the video first, and then watching. That's how much I'm confident about the content you Guys put together and present!
Magnifique 👍 Wow
i might just create a John Wick safe in the ground
A safe key + sledge hammer would be needed to acces it
I have two Mozsly devices to manage the power reserve of 5 quality automatic watches. I tend to rotate the watches according to when they were last worn and by their power reserve. I switch on the winders for around 8-10 hrs a day only when I think necessary (not always the same watch naturally) and they keep all pieces ticking along very nicely. Super quiet, not silly money and very reliable, they can run off the mains, be linked together, or run on two AA batteries if you don't want the hassle of cables and I've found the latter easily last for over two months when operating them on the standard bi-directional 650TPD setting. They cannot overwind a decent watch - if that was the case and you wear an auto watch daily, it would break in no time. If you are going away for a long time and are not taking all your collection (who does lol), just let the watches wind down, stop and rest. it will do them no harm at all.
#601 liked. Very good video, precise and to the point information. Thank you.
To prevent the Rolex bracelet from scratching the Rolex caseback
maybe use a cushion or a microfiber cloth?
Where can I buy one of those 2-slot zip-around watch case?
Against humidity, I don't understand, do you advice to use a safe?
So what's the best/safest watch winder for a single rolex?
Any concerns on the direction of placement of the watch over long periods in storage? Does it matter if the face is place face down or on its side for years in storage?
Hey Phif, this is a good point. Depending on the watch you may want to rotate a certain way depending on its movement and inside mechanics.
Ok so I have the safe at home and I'm storing it long term. Should I take it out and wind it a couple times a year once every few months? Hypothetically speaking. Keeping in mind that the date and time would not need to be accurate, just so the mechanism inside doesn't stick
Question? If you store your Rolex on the pillow that comes with the watch won't it streatch the band?? Thanks
I remodeled a room to keep moisture away from my Casio
Great information. Unflattering chair.
Glad it was helpful! Sorry about the chair! 😅
I’m digging the chair!
Can anyone tell me the name/brand of that single- watch leather winder with the ABC & off settings on it? Thanks!
Windsor Module 2.5 Brown Leather Single Watch Winder
3:49 Moisture?!?! 🤣 Oh no, my 300m rated submariner will be ruined! 😂
They say if it is really old and has not been serviced. You don't know the state of the seals, if they degraded, the watch isn't water/moisture resistant anymore.
3:38 Nice Rothwell 😉😂
Buy a hell of a safe and take the time to lock them up. Too much craziness these days.
Make sure the safe you choose can be bolted to the floor from inside the safe so thieves can't access the bolts.
Free standing safes can be taken and opened later.
I just can´t wait to watch the next episode...it could be... "wind your hand winding watch so it starts running"?
Where can one find the winder that is slightly slanted backwards that’s seen in the video winding the chronograph watch?
The watch winder is from Wolf.
@@bobswatches thanks for the response, can’t find it on their website. Is there an affiliate link you can post that links to the winder the Platona is on?
Should you keep it in the green box or a watch organiser
Hey Dewan, It is really all preference. Some like to keep it in the watch winders, or in their personal watch box's. The reccomended best way to store you watch would be on a watch winder if you are not wearing it reguarly.

I bury mine in a shoe box out back
I like to buy a safe and put some rock in it then put the safe in the obvious place and then keep the real valuable item somewhere else. So when a robber came and saw a safe they will just took it back home and not the real valuable item hidden somewhere else in the house 🤣🤣
Why stress storing Rolex Watches, is not storing Watches just storing Watches, or putting Rolex in the Video title draws more views.
Mine is wrapped in a sock
All fine except you missed THE most important factor...
Never, ever buy a cheap watch winder. Their mechanisms are not only unreliable, noisy and ugly they have magnetic fields that can damage your watch (or at least make its timekeeping rate fail).
What’s the best way to store an Invicta? Now that’s the real question.
You and me in the same boat!!
in the toilet
What a nosence to limit the recommendations to Rolex. A Patek Philippe can be stored the same way.
I put all my Rolex and other watches in a custom pelican water and crush resistant box and store it inside my gun safes.
Same
Feel like I’m being shouted at
can I use it in an omega or other poor people watch brands?
Im using it on gshock!
😂 all the poor people with Omega, Rolex, Breitling, Tudor, and Tissot can use it too! Its not just for rich people with Lange and Patek, its for peasants too, you smooth brain! 😂
nope, which means that unless you have Patek, VC, Roger Dubois, RM, AP, or independent watch makers like Gronefeld, you cant store. This is not made for peasant basic SS watches with basic movements with basic finishing like Omega or Rolex or Tudor or Zenith. Only brands above i mention and independent haute horology watch makers.
Well you definitely know how to grab a man’s attention.
If you need a video to tell u to keep it in the box u should not own a Rolex LOL
For someone new to the watch world, they might not know these options, so it's a good showcase of what products are available. I didn't know watch winders existed for years.
Great vid; great advice, great smile, amazing legs.
I use the 8past10.com watch roll for my pieces 😀
Could you say Rolex a bit more please, I don't think you mentioned the brand enough
"Rolex" repeated every 15.7 seconds.
But the real question is: at the end of the day, with which watch does she goes home?
Looks like she’s wearing a Panerai.
@@fjones1914 I mean when she's not at the boutique.
He is probably wearing a Panerai because they are in vogue in the US now, but contemporary Panerai leave something to be desired: even those who work in Panerai find it hard, with the case back open, to distinguish them from the clones.
With the CASIO, obviously. What kind of a question is that?
Why are you trying so hard to smile just act natural
many of those rolex watches look ugly
Woman... Please please don't read with that tone.
