- Here is summary of 15 things which I think they should be known among players. I believe my subs know almost all of them (hope do not) but new players should find this video extremely interesting. I do not take credit for all mysteries, only for those already explained in detail on my channel.
- Hry
The Batwings that takes you to Anor Londo, and Batwings enemies are diffirient creatures - the enemies are called "lesser batwing demons", that was noted in Demon Spear item description
now thats finally something I didn't know before watching the video. turns out those 9 minutes weren't a total waste, thanks
TheMike0088 You're fucking sweet baud
Other flying enemies, even huge humanities in DLC can fall and die.
@@noop9k sometimes in the stupidest ways, had Thorn Knight Kirk encounter in demon ruins and I turned around and ran towards him dude just rolled off the edge, got the souls but lost the drop, luckily got the shield on the first encounter and the sword on the last one but I could have really used that humanity.
I saw the Title of this video. I laughed with confidence! I watched this video. I crawled back from whence I came carrying a bucket full of shame...
I haven't even beaten the iron golem and I knew most of this (only started a while ago that's why)
@
@@silverfang4583 you know you're a liar
@@renatinhoss funny thing is I'm not haha
Bwahahahaha same here.
One of the only "Dark Souls secrets" videos worth watching.
He sees that Kalameet was dusted? Really? He saw that? Did he watch me do it?
Couldnt stop laughing when i read this comment!
He sees what you did there.
Well he must’ve heard it. Either that or, in the Kalameet cutscene, he was able to pinpoint exactly where Kalameet was in the sky by feeling the irregularity in the wind caused by his wings, so maybe he figured Kalameet had been destroyed or chased away by the fact that the wind is blowing past him uninterrupted.
Lmao, I died, but I mean if he can somehow hawkeye aim anyway..... uhh...?
The thing with the rins respawning in the chest shocked me so hard. I was wondering what is that chest for a really long time. Now it's time to solve empty chest behind Gwyndolin problem
The Firelink Chest is for any lost "Quest" item that you happen to lose. The Lordvessel, Lord Souls, Broken Pendant... any required item to progress in the game, if you lose it, will spawn in that chest.
like how you drop the lordvessel though?
@@yukarihideki3805People can do some really stupid things, and videogames can do even more stupid things.
Wow, it's amazing that they put that extra dialogue in just in case someone was crazy enough to fight Kalameet right away. Very well designed!
I always though the white rings were bugs in the game lol
thought*
Skittlez Same for me ^^"
+Skittlez They've never appeared for me. Do I have to have a talisman or certain item equipped for them to appear?
No, must be unlucky I guess.
+Skittlez i found them very often in the dark woods
That kalameet trick is quite intriguing, makes gaping dragon looks harder than him kk
OK, now how do I kill the asylum beast?
Andy Hughes funny you :)
+Andy Hughes you have to beat the kalameet dragon`s giant lord, if you beat it, you will obtain a key, that will lead you to an ancient sword, called ``asylum assassin!`` you will be able to kill only the asylum demon, but HK
+Funky Cipher Cat lol that's mean what if he actually did that
MechaKurama Ofc I did, that sword is OP
Lol
Well I never knew there was a hanging cage elevator in Sen's Funhouse.
+Mettan Atem I'm with you on that one.
It's hard to miss
for me i just recently discoreved there is a hidden wall leading to the gate raising giant in the funhouse you talked about xD
Better watch The Dumbshits guide to Dark Souls m8)
I have beat the entire game thrice
And in Sen's fortress I just knew about the Undead Parish bonfire
I'm stupid and suffered for nothing
number 9 is actually quite easy to explain. we see the batwing demons fly from a standing position and when they run, but when they're falling off, they may have too much speed and momentum for their skinny bat wings to let them fly.
Alternate explanation, from outside the game: This game doesn't have any flying enemies. That is, there are no free-flying enemies in the game comparable to free-walking enemies. The crow women in the painted world are just doing jumps, they never freely fly around, and the moonlight butterflies appear to have some pretty strict, scripted paths through the air that they stick to. Compare to, say, the hollows in the undead burg, or those nasty fang dudes in blight town. You can run and jump and kick them off ledges and they'll track you down like ten minutes later because they have some SERIOUS pathing going on.
I'd suggest that the real-world reason is that the game's pathing systems do not handle aerial movement well, only ground-based navigation, which is VERY common in video games. I know this is a bad explanation because it's not in the game's fiction, but the probable reality is that monsters in this game only "fly" when it's scripted.
Mister Guy What about the mosquitos in Blighttown then? Don't tell me they are strictly scripted.
Volvary they very much are, my friend. They simply hover over the ground, and gain/lose altitude when needed to follow a player.
but they're not scripted because they don't just fly in the same patterns in the same places, they'll follow you anywhere at any height, no matter where you are in lower blighttown.
rugbyfan0025
Hey you know, I did forget about those. You're right, they do fly. They have no pathing - they fly straight at the player, ignoring ceilings and floors. And batwing demons would look weird flying that way. As I said, the game's pathing systems don't seem geared to handle aerial movement. I still maintain it's just not set up for it, and technical/gameplay reasons are the explanation.
and still i find something new everyday about dark souls series
That is what I really love about the game
#15 works with Alvinas ring too. Fun fact: you can also feed them to Frampt for souls and keep getting more from that chest
this is why dark souls is so awesome. they have these little things that seem unimportant but are actually fascinating. and they even put in hidden dialogue for those who would try to kill kalameet without gough's help yet they never said. Amazing.
Apparently the chosen undead is a better archer than gough. I mean he kills the dragon with one shot :P
pretty sure it takes a lot of shots, and the clip is skipped to the end
Videogameaddict78 or maybe it bugs out and he dies in one shot
Diogo Bastos eh, maybe. i know the original dark souls game much better than the dlc
Well some of the original is better. Blight town and demon ruins are most certainly not.
doomlord117 i meant i know a lot more about the original game. not that it is superior
wait, those little circles are mirracle resonances? I always thought they were just game bugs that were never patched...
that's because you're dumb
Matthew Coy How?
@@allew7646 Lack of mental acumen
When I had an Xbox360, I had an unpatched version (never went online) and when I went to the Painted World on NG, there were Black Phantoms.
Anyone else encounter this?
unpatched is why. they changed it so the game wouldnt be more harder than it is
+Ari Rasivirta I doubt it was an act of dubbing the game down as much as it was just fixing a mistake.
Me to
Moreover facts than mysteries.
Should have mentioned Sif and artorias have the same great sword attacks as each other. And that if you save artorias and Sif before killing Sif to get the ring, the cutscenes changes
I FINALLY KNOW WHAT THAT CHEST BEHIND FRAMPT DOES!!
Great finds! I was especially interested by that unique backstab animation at Quelana's spot. I wonder if that was intentionally programmed? Hmm...
I've played a lot of Dark Souls and didn't know a lot of this stuff, like the headshot mechanics, the strength/weight correlation, and I've never heard the extra Gough dialog either. Great video man!
Quelana's pillar and the strength formulae were new to me; surprised after three years playing one of these videos had something I didn't know. Nice job.
Exceptional video in both content and delivery.
Very good video!
Keep up with the good work!
When Gough hits Kalameet with his bow, it lands in the arena that you normally fight it in because of an injured wing. When the player hits it, it tries to fly away, and presumably crashes into the abyss, for the same reason.
Did u know that since Gough is blind and depends on sound to detect his enemies, u can use the slumbering dragon crest ring or the hush sorcery and he won't be able to hit u because he won't know where u are
I knew one and half and yet i like and share with friends. Amazing!
Good video, great content. Few there I never knew about tbh... Well we all learn something everyday!
It's 2020 and a lot from this video was still new to me. Just wow!
Great video, actually had a lot of stuff that I didn't know about.
Ribosome, nice vid! Do you have thoughts on how the gravelord covenant could be improved for dks2? I am definitely looking forward to your content on the next edition! :D
I am going to try the last on out. Thanks for the vid bro. xD
Great video :D I see 5 videos with 50 think that i "dont know" but already know a lot of them.... but in this video i found a lot of things that i still didnt know :D So im happy n___n
One question, there is always black phantoms in night Anor Londo in ng+ and over? O,o
Yes BPs are there in NG+ in dark Anor Londo.
Loved this video, I'm a ds vet and didn't know at least 80% of the things on the video
I'm pretty sure it is. I actually already encountered that one myself. I had got invaded down there and the invader was standing next to Quelana for protection while chucking pyro at me, and I managed to get around him for a backstab and this happened. I could never figure out how I'd done it before watching this video.
The channeller aura around the gaping dragon looks bloody awesome.
I'm glad you find some useful info in this video.
I knew all except for the strength and weight algorithm. Damnit. I'm a dirty casual
i didn't know must of them
great job man subscribed ^^
Great Video! Keep up doin' your work
I don't know what have of these things mean, but pretty kool to see a bunch of new stuff I didn't know! Thanks!
I like this vid because there is no stupid/annoying commentary by the creator. Thank you for the excellent video!
Learned a lot. Thank you!
Did you know there is a glitch where the Abyss has fall damage with the ring on?
I've watched this video twice and still learned something new.
You got me with the special bstab animation by quelannas stone
Cool. I was wondering about that. Good Info.
The two last ones got me, well played sir :3
I think it's because ordinarily, getting down to a good enough position to be able to take him out, with that weapon especially, is in itself an achievement. It also denies you access to his tail weapon. 60000 souls and an extra dialogue line is hardly a major boost for an end-game boss.
this video was amazing dude
Wow, a "did you know" video that ACTUALLY contains things i didn't know. Good job!
Awesome, I didn't know you could kill Kalameet before fighting Artorias. It's cool that there's alternate dialog too. I also didn't know the strength/weight correlation.
I'm planning to do What do you want from Gravelord in DkS2. So, stay tuned.
Thanks for putting a question mark in the title, since I knew quite a lot of these. And btw, the first one works with cat covenant ring as well.
I would like to think myself a fairly skilled and knowledgeable player of DS but damn... You stumped me on every single on of those! Nice job! great vid!
It makes sense that the pendant works on black flame
good to know too btw, Ive got a tank character who midrolls and since Im not quite quick enough to roll out of the way of black magic I keep the silver pendant on my hot bar to just deflect it, now I can deflect black flame too
Mysteries? Well ... things? :D Nice video though, only knew a couple, but then again, there are like 10 000 things I don't know regarding PVP related stuff.
That Kalameet one blew me away!
Did not know that Strength formula at all. Thanks for that :D
Did not know about the prekilling of kalameet. very cool!
IIRC, the coffin animation in Blighttown happens because that location is exactly located where the Gravelord Servant coffin is in the Catacombs. I don't know if It's below or above it, but it is directly below or above it.
great stuff!!
Those DkS videos motivated me to make a video not only for new players but also for veterans where they can both enyoy in new findings.
hi, #15 was a bit of a let down, but u rly made it up with the other 14. good vid, have a subscription =)
The undead thirds in the lower undead burg have a special backstep animation. I found this out when I used force on them.
Yeah Spy, THIS was my last piece to make the whole picture. I'm glad you find it great and I'm happy to teach you, a proDkS gamer, new stuff :)
This video was... MINDBLOWING!
I know that but thank you for bringing it here.
Thank you! I always wondered why that chest was there in Firelink Shrine.
I knew most of them but the headshots thing and the parry/riposte free zones were interesting, i didn't know that
i knew all but 6. :D but anyway a great video ;)
I knew all but 7. Still, great video!
hey guy, the kalameet kill, was that just the last hit u showed or was it actually just one shot?
The Kalameet bit is amazing!
Nice vid I like your presentation sub
nice list I only knew about 3 of these. make a vid for dark souls 2 when it releases please.
i knew most of them but will give a like anyway cuz i did learn few new things like #15 and #1
Great video
Man...i miss so much the beginning of the souls comunity...remember when every little discovery was incredible?
Demon's souls & Dark Souls 1 were so different when compared to almost everything else that it took a very long time to discover anything...years later there were still things undiscovered and unclear mechanics
that was pretty unique since today, 99% of the time, everything about a game is discovered in less then a week, and immediately posted on the internet.
From the "technicalities" about the existence of direct hits, instability frames ecc, to the lore mysteries like like "why was there an occult weapon hidden in Anor Londo the city of the gods?", to (useful) game bugs-glitches like toggle-escape, backroll stabbing, cracked talisman of the beast ecc..
about DS1 in particular to this day people still discuss the lore of the game and interpret it in different ways...
while i am a fan of "lore" in a lot of franchises (i spent a lot of time also with D&D lore, or The Elder Scrolls games)
but to this day Dark Souls' lore is the one that captivates me the most by far, and to be honest is the first reason that makes me wish for a Dark Souls 4: gameplay and atmosphere can be reinterpreted faithfully and delivered by either the same people (Bloodborne) or other developers (Salt & Sanctuary did an incredible job) but the story of this world began with "Dark Souls 1" and ended with "DS3 the ringed city"
that's what happens when i think about Dark Souls...i start rambling
better go to bed now : \
#3, my favourite mystery. Nice.
I knew it was a thing, but now I kind of want to host a fight club on the anor londo elevator and have someone constantly spin it, that would be sick.
Wow good vid, I honestly didn't know several of them
Nice video! Where did you get the armor mystery 13?
Greeting, Praise the Sun!!
That's the shortcut you can unlock in Sen's Fortress, you get the key from a corpes down the stairs from the crestfallen merchant.
Damn, did not knew most of them in spite of playing the game for 4 years lol. Thanks for the info :)
Interesting. I knew head armor decreased damage from arrows, but I didn't know how much. Would the Elite Knight Helmet count as a full protection helmet, or only a medium one, do you know? It looks like full protection, but it's also fairly light when compared to the havel's helm...
If the Depths Channeler is willing to buff the Gaping Dragon, then I take it that Seath has an alliance with him on account of both him and the Gaping Dragon basically being complete freaks
I wouldnt be suprised if Seath is actually kkeping that dragon imprisoned in the depths so he can harvest him for scales or something. Probably not the real scales dragonshad but degenerate lesser version but one can make experiments with that i imagine...
He was using silver pendant to ward off black flame.
But you can get more uses of WotG by collecting the spell more than once and putting it in a slot multiple times.
5 years later and I am going to have fun with those chain backstabs shits o-o
If you attack snow, there is a unique sound for it.
If you use the Four-Pronged Plow's 2h strong attack and land in water, there will also be a unique sound played.
Chester has a Baby's Nail sheathe on his coat.
The first 'mystery' applies to all rings you can only acquire once in a play through and are essential to a certain covenant or area. E.g orange charred ring as you are supposed to use it to cross the lava in the Demon Ruins, or the Covenant of Artorias to cross the Abyss.
Good video!
It's amazing how people find all these unique events and what not.
what sword is the player wielding at 8:57?
That last one was really interesting.
My bad, you're right. thanks for clearing that up Draven
First of these videos ever posted to actually bring up things most people don't know, instead of just bringing up common fanboy knowledge. Kudos to you're journalistic integrity sir or complex hoax, facts so foreign they must be verified by additional sources. ;)
Very intrigued by how Gough would say "Blessings of lord Gwyn upon thee" when in all other scenarios he'd tell the chosen undead to lead his life as he sees fit
knew all of them except for the weird for the weird coffin backstab in blighttown
