I am retired after 42 years of local p&d in Knoxville, Tennessee. Worked full time with Skyline Transportation, Bowman Transportation, Carolina Freight, ABF and finally USF Holland. Lots of great companies have gone out of business. Worked for many others as a casual. Love watching your videos. Lots of great memories. I miss mostly the customers I got to see on a regular basis. Made a lot of good friends all through out East Tennessee. Still am in contact with many. Thanks for sharing your days.

Between the ones I watch , it reminds me of what I used to do and being on the road which is something I greatly miss . I'm a disabled / retired driver who spent 21 years on the road , running team for a company that was located in Ottowa Illinois back when they were still in business back in the early 80's . The company was Kresser ( not Kressler ) and in the later years of the company the name was changed to Kresser Nationwide . This was back when trucks were trucks with NO air ride and strictly leaf spring suspensions and this company only used International cabovers , so as we drove we felt every little stone on the pavement .

Hi Chuck, I'm a retired truck driver from the netherlands, europe. I have been driving regular services throughout Europe for 42 years. I watch your videos to see how things are done in America and what strikes me is that apart from legal regulations the work itself is not that much different.
I wish you many safe kilometers and pleasure in your work.

Man.. Start to love the 'plain America'(normal working ppl) a lot more, after seeing all these videos - it's suddenly seem a lot more human and normal, compared to what we usually see from polished NY, or other big TV-city's. Love the genuine insight to the plain and normal working ppl's daily lives. Also love the insigth to the unpolished countryside - real life!

First thing he should do is get another estimate or two.
When I saw damages I was thinking to the cargo ... reminded me of when I was a receiving person at a construction site (very large gold mill) back in 1999. I was asked to look for a shipment the crew needed like yesterday. Well, it came in ... missing a pallet. Of course the part (electric water pump assembly) the crew needed yesterday was the one missing.
Next day the contents of the missing pallet showed up looking like it had been dropped on the road. After talking to my boss - and him talking to the crew foreman - he decided to accept it with a notation of damage. So I spent probably an hour documenting the damages (including photos back when that meant film in a camera.) Motor fan broken, fan housing badly dented, and multiple grease zircs broken off...

I run a packaging company and we're a small outfit. We have only a few employees so we all do what we have to do to make the company run. I work with a lot of truck drivers and trucking companies. Whenever I can, I make the drivers life easier. I've restacked and re-wrapped loads that weren't mine because they tipped in the truck, I've pulled pallets to the ass end of a truck because the next stop doesn't have a dock. Drivers have a difficult job and 99% of the drivers I deal with are friendly and respectful. Help out when you can folks. Drivers appreciate it.

Collision shop owner 26 years. Just for some parts prices? That bumper is probably $1,800 headlight could be $800 Fender $300 ... however what most people don't see or think of. Replacing right front fender? You got to blend and paint the right front door so there's no color difference. Area behind headlight called headlight baffle? Usually a part of the radiator support - surely that's bent. So now the radiator A/C condenser, oil cooler, Grill driver's headlight driver's fender all has to come off to replace the radiator support, recharge the A/C, top off the transmission fluid, (oil cooler) top off and bleed coolant system, aim headlights, program headlights ( yes nowadays even those are connected to the computer) Without seeing it closer and slower - might need four-wheel alignment if it hit the tire.... and if it did any suspension damage? Airbags? any airbags go off?... radiator support is probably $1,100 bucks and 15 hours to change all on its own. It adds up quick. Another part people don't know is there are books/software that tells you how long it takes to repair replace or paint every little part on every vehicle on the road.. you go get 3 estimates they'll be within a couple hundred dollars of each other because of that alone. The days of "screwing the insurance company".... been done long ago... at least on collision estimates. Lol
