    STORYLINE:
Protesting workers, who are apart of a union of state employees that had been recently laid off, held a demonstration in Buenos Aires on Monday.
The demonstrators gathered at several facilities including the National Institute of Industrial Technology (INTI), the Gender Secretariat and the Human Rights Secretariat for the strike which was organised by the Association of State Workers (ATE).
Police officers with riot shields were on hand to monitor the protest.
The workers' union claims that more than 15,000 layoffs were ordered by the President Javier Milei to cut public spending.
Nearly 300 of such layoffs were made on Monday at the INTI.
Milei maintains that the Argentine state is oversized and that it is necessary to cut personnel.
The unions maintains that the cuts mostly end the jobs of people who carry out their tasks adequately.
